Lexus Named Official Breeders’ Cup Partner

Officials at the Breeders’ Cup announced Friday that Lexus will be the Official Luxury Vehicle and Transportation Partner of the 2020 World Championships, to be held Nov. 6-7 at Keeneland, and will provide participants with exclusive experiences. Breeders’ Cup and the luxury automobile company, in partnership with sports management and consulting firm JMI Sports, will provide a fleet of luxury vehicles to squire owners, trainers, breeders, and partners to the track and other relevant areas. The parking lot at Keeneland will be designated as the “Lexus Lot.”

“We are delighted to be partnering with Lexus, one of the world’s most premier automobile brands, to provide exclusive experiences for participants and viewers of the 2020 World Championships and reinforce Breeders’ Cup as a leading luxury lifestyle event,” said Chris McNamara, Breeders’ Cup Senior Vice President, Corporate Partnerships.

The partnership also involves sponsorship of this year’s Jockey Cam. The 2020 Breeders’ Cup will be the first Thoroughbred racing event in the U.S. to use two Jockey Cams during live competition.

Heider Family Stables to Sponsor G3 Round Tower S.

American-based owner Scott Heider and his family will sponsor the G3 Round Towner S., The Curragh announced on Thursday. The six-furlong contest for 2-year-olds will be held on Aug. 28. Heider’s yellow and red colours are under the Heider Family Stables banner. They have been carried to victory by Kitten’s Joy colt Crossfirehurricane in the G3 CoolmoreTen Sovereigns Gallinule S. in June.

“It’s just been a fantastic experience for us,” Heider reflected, on his five-year involvement with Irish racing. “We love our partnership with Joseph O’Brien and we’ve been very fortunate to race some talented individuals on Irish racecourses the last few years including Crossfirehurricane, A New Dawn (Ire) (Zoffany {Ire}), Take A Deep Breath (GB) (Bated Breath {GB}) and our latest winner, an American Pharoah filly named Pista. Horse Racing Ireland has been a pleasure to work with as they always seem to go out of their way to make sure our experience is quite special.”

Coolmore Renews Matrong S. Sponsorship

Coolmore has extended their support of the G1 Matron S. at Leopardstown during Irish Champions Weekend, Leopardstown announced on Monday. The race, which has twice been voted the highest-rated race for fillies and mares by the Longines World Thoroughbred Rankings, will be officially known as the G1 Coolmore America Justify Matron S. Coolmore’s Ashford Stud in Kentucky stands two Triple Crown winners, American Pharoah (Pioneerof the Nile) and Justify (Scat Daddy). The 2019 edition of the Matron was landed by Iridessa (Ire) (Ruler of the World {Ire}).

“Coolmore are delighted to be maintaining all of our Irish race sponsorships at pre-covid levels including the flagship Coolmore America Justify Matron S.,” said Coolmore’s David O’Loughlin. “American Pharoah has already enjoyed fantastic success on both sides of the Atlantic with his first crop and as the best son of Royal Ascot phenomenon Scat Daddy, we expect the same from Justify in due course.”

Juddmonte New Sponsor of Irish Oaks

Juddmonte will sponsor the G1 Irish Oaks for the next three years, The Curragh announced via Horse Racing Ireland on Wednesday. The 2020 edition is slated for Saturday, July 18. The distinctive pink, green and white silks have been first past the post three times in the fillies’ Classic-Wemyss Bight (GB) (Dancing Brave) in 1993, Bolas (GB) (Unfuwain) in 1994 and Enable (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}) took the 2017 edition. In 2020, Prince Khalid Abdullah’s operation will be represented by homebred fillies G1 bet365 Fillies’ Mile victress Quadrilateral (GB) (Frankel {GB}) and Pocket Square (GB) (Night of Thunder {Ire}). Both of Aidan O’Brien’s 1000 Guineas winners–Love (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) in the English and Peaceful (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) in the Irish equivalent–are also set to line up.
