Backed like a lock at 2-5 making a rare dirt-to-turf move for Hall of Famer Bob Baffert, the dark bay locked on to even speedier Helladic (Kantharos) early after a slightly awkward break, pounced on that one at the head of the lane and inched clear from him by 1 1/4 lengths, stopping the clock in :55.25.
