Frank Conversation Shuttling To Chile For Southern Hemisphere Season

Frank Conversation, a multiple graded stakes-winning son of Quality Road (out of Rushen Heat by Unusual Heat), will shuttle to Haras Santa Sara in Santiago, Chile for the 2020 Southern Hemisphere breeding season.

Frank Conversation just completed his second year at stud at Rockridge Stud in Hudson, N.Y.

“We're thrilled with the quality of his first crop of foals, and would love to see international success for the horse,” says Rockridge Stud's Lere Visagie. “An opportunity to shuttle just seemed like a no-brainer.”

The deal was brokered by Bowling Bloodstock and Sullivan Bloodstock.

“We've had great success in the past with Santa Sara, most recently having sent Goldencents there,” says Matt Bowling of Bowling Bloodstock. “They take very good care of the horses and we think Frank will be well-received there.”

Darby Dan Farm’s Flameaway To Shuttle To Chile’s Haras Dadinco

Flameaway, Darby Dan Farm's multiple graded stakes-winning son of Scat Daddy, is shuttling to South America to stand at Haras Dadinco in Chile for the upcoming Southern Hemisphere breeding season, it was announced today.

In the deal brokered by Matt Bowling Bloodstock and Sullivan Bloodstock, Flameaway will stand alongside Aragorn, Newfoundland and Van Nistelrooy, among others.

“We are thrilled to partner with Haras Dadinco,” said Ryan Norton, stallion director at Darby Dan Farm. “Flameaway was a versatile racehorse and he has a stallion's pedigree. He generated a lot of interest in this, his first season at stud, and we believe it's an exciting situation for our young stallion, as well as for Southern Hemisphere breeders.”

An ultra-consistent near-millionaire earner of $911,634 for owner John Oxley and trainer Mark Casse, Flameaway was a stakes winner each year he raced from ages two to four, winning on traditional dirt, turf, and synthetic surfaces at distances from 4 1/2 furlongs to 1 1/16 miles. All told, he won five stakes, including the Grade 3 Dixiana Bourbon Stakes at Keeneland and Saratoga's Skidmore Stakes at two after breaking his maiden on debut.

The following season, he captured the G3 Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs, defeating subsequent Grade 1 winners Catholic Boy and Vino Rosso. He also won the Kitten's Joy Stakes on turf at Gulfstream Park and the Challenger Stakes at Tampa, retiring having finished first or second in nine of 18 lifetime starts.

At stud, Flameaway proved popular at Darby Dan, breeding 183 mares in his first Northern Hemisphere season.

Hit It A Bomb Shuttling To Argentina For 2020 Southern Hemisphere Season

Hit It a Bomb, the winner of the 2015 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf, will shuttle to Haras Firmamento in Argentina for the 2020 Southern Hemisphere breeding season, the South American publication Turf Diario reports.

The 7-year-old son of War Front stands the Northern Hemisphere season at Spendthrift Farm in Lexington, Ky., where he was advertised in 2020 for $5,000. His first foals are 2-year-olds of 2020, and he was represented by his first winner at stud on June 21, when the gelding Weston won a Santa Anita Park maiden special weight.

Hit It a Bomb has become a frequent traveler to Argentina during his young stud career, having covered 75 mares in the country during last year's Southern Hemisphere season.

The stallion won three of seven starts during his on-track career for earnings of $626,476, highlighted by his Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf score at Keeneland. He also won the Star Appeal Stakes in Ireland as a juvenile. The horse came back at three to place in a pair of Irish group stakes races.

A Kentucky homebred for Evelyn Stockwell, Hit It a Bomb is out of the Irish Group 3-winning Sadler's Wells mare Liscanna, making him a full-brother to European champion Brave Anna.

Classic-Placed Hofburg To Enter Stud In Brazil

Hofburg, a classic-placed stakes winner, will begin his stud career at Haras Santa Maria de Araras in Brazil, according to the South American racing publication Turf Diario.

The 5-year-old son of Tapit raced as a homebred for Juddmonte Farms, and was trained by Bill Mott, winning three of 11 starts for earnings of $554,300.

After breaking his maiden in his 3-year-old debit, Hofburg tested the Grade 1 Florida Derby, where he finished second to Audible. This qualified him for the 2018 Kentucky Derby, where he gained ground in the stretch after a rough trip to finish seventh behind eventual Triple Crown winner Justify.

Hofburg's gaining trip in the Derby, paired with Tapit's growing tradition of success in the Belmont Stakes, led the colt to go off as the second choice in the third leg of the Triple Crown, where he ultimately finished third. He came back a month later to win the Curlin Stakes at Saratoga, then ran fourth in the G1 Pennsylvania Derby.

The horse racing sparingly after his 3-year-old season, winning a Saratoga allowance optional claiming race in his lone start at four, then going unplaced in a pair of graded stakes earlier this year.

Hofburg is out of the placed Touch Gold mare Soothing Touch, making him a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Emollient and Grade 2-placed stakes winner Courtier.

Other notable North American horses that have resided at Haras Santa Maria de Araras include Put It Back – the sire of Brazilian Triple Crown winner and current Calumet Farm stallion Bal a Bali – and Wild Event.
