A 5% share in 5-year-old entire Old Flame (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) (lot 198), a Group 2 winner, sold for A$70,000 to Chatsworth Farm at the Inglis Digital February (Early) Sale on Wednesday.
Bred by Juddmonte Farms, the bay is a son of juvenile winner Lilyfire (First Defence) and made his first four starts in the Northern Hemisphere, winning two. Purchased for 250,000gns out of the Tattersalls Autumn Horses-in-Training Sale in 2021 by Snowden Racing/Will Johnson Bloodstock, he has thrived Down Under. A winner of three of his eight starts in Australia, including the A$500,000 G2 Linlithgow S. at Flemington last October, he has also placed in the A$250,000 G2 Shannon S., the A$1-million The Gong, as well as the A$500,000 The Coast. Overall, he has earned A$625,000 from his eight starts, and he is due to trial later this month, before targeting the G1 Doncaster and the G1 George Ryder S.
Old Flame is a half-brother to the G2 Duchess Of Cambridge S. third Chaleur (GB) (Dansili {GB}), as well as the G3 Ballysax S. third Dalvey (GB), also by Dansili.
