Group 1 Sire Tasleet On The Move To India

Group 1 stallion Tasleet (GB) (Showcasing {GB}), who was placed in three top-level sprints, has been acquired by Dr. Anhad Sidhu's Star Born Stud and will stand in India in 2024. A fee for the bay will be announced at a later date.

“Tasleet [is] getting ready to head to India,” said New Approach Bloodstock's Ajay Anne on X, who assisted with the deal. “Congratulations to Star Born Stud on acquiring this smart stallion. Thank you Shadwell Stud and Hissa Hamdan. All the best to Anhad Sidhu.”

The 10-year-old son of Bird Key (GB) (Cadeaux Genereux {GB}) is the sire of G1 King's Stand S. and G2 Coventry S. hero Bradsell (GB), as well as the stakes winner American Sonja (GB), who has placed four times at group/graded level. From the same family as crack sprinter Battaash (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) and his full-brother The Antarctic (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}), the G2 Duke Of York S. and G3 Greenham S. hero stood at Shadwell's Nunnery Stud this year for a fee of £6,000.

Anne had previously assisted Star Born Stud with their acquisition of stallion Well Done Fox (GB) (Acclamation {GB}).

Sheikha Hissa Announces Death Of Sarayir

Sarayir (Mr. Prospector), a daughter of champion Height of Fashion {Fr}) (Bustino {GB}) and the dam of 2009 G1 1000 Guineas heroine Ghanaati (Giant's Causeway), has passed away, Sheikha Hissa Hamdan tweeted Friday. She was 29 years old.

A half-sister to the likes of Nashwan, Unfuwain, Alwasmi, Mukddam and Nayef, Sarayir won her maiden and the Listed Oh So Sharp S. at two for Major Dick Hern and added a third career success as a 3-year-old in 1997. The first of her produce to make an impact at the races was her foal of 2005 Mawatheeq (Danzig), winner of the G3 Cumberland Lodge S. and runner-up in the G1 Champion S. for trainer Marcus Tregoning.

Foaled in 2006, Ghanaati was conditioned by Barry Hills to three wins from six trips to the races, graduating by a half-dozen lengths at second asking in 2008 before taking the 1000 Guineas and G1 Coronation S. in succession the following season. Ghanaati would go on to produce G2 Joel S. hero Mutasaabeq (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) and Wafy (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}), winner in Dubai of the G3 Mahab Al Shimaal S.

Rumoush (Rahy) continued Sarayir's streak of breeding shed success, winning the Listed Feilden S. for Tregoning before crossing the line in fourth, but placed third via disqualification, behind Snow Fairy (Ire) in the 2010 G1 Investec Epsom Oaks. Rumoush was also third in the G3 Prix de Psyche in France and second in the G2 Park Hill S. before going on to account for multiple Dubai Group 3 winner Muntazah (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), G3 City of York S. heroine Talaayeb (GB) (Dansili {GB}) and listed winner Wadilsafa (GB) (Frankel {GB}). This is also the female family of German Group 1 winner Wind in Her Hair (Alzao), famously the dam of the outstanding Deep Impact (Jpn), and of Miqyaas (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}), expected to run in the G1 Al Quoz Sprint next weekend.

Sarayir, a full-sister to Baaeed (GB)'s fourth dam Bashayer, was the granddam of the stakes-winning Zawraq (Ire) (Shamardal), G2 Queen Mary S. winner and 1000 Guineas G1 Cheveley Park S. third Maqaasid (GB) (Green Desert). She was the third dam of G1 Sydney Cup victor Shraaoh (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) and G3 Bahrain Trophy hero Raheen House (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}).
