The Minkster Looks to Remain Perfect in Grey

The Minkster (English Channel) looks to take his record to three-for-three in Woodbine's GIII Grey S. Sunday. Romping by 6 1/4 lengths in his career bow on the Woodbine turf Oct. 2, the bay took to a route of ground with ease, capturing the nine-furlong Coronation Futurity S. on the synthetic here four weeks later.

Kevin Attard sends out two here in Hicksy (Hootenanny) and Be Like Clint (Point of Entry). A dominant second-out graduate on the local main track Oct. 3, Hicksy captured the Display S. at this oval Oct. 30. Be Like Clint earned his diploma at third asking in an off-the-turfer here Sept. 26 and was second in a track-and-trip optional claimer Nov. 6.

God of Love (Cupid) is one of three from the Mark Casse barn in this event. He broke his maiden at second asking in the grassy Cup and Saucer S. here Oct. 10 and rallied to be fifth in the Coronation Futurity. The chestnut is joined by stablemates On Thin Ice (More Than Ready) and Stowaway (Gun Runner).

Casse Saddles Half of Mazarine Field

Multiple Sovereign Award winner Mark Casse sends out four of the nine runners in Sunday's GIII Mazarine S. at Woodbine. Leading the quartet is Conrad Farms homebred Aubrieta (Speightster). A debut winner sprinting at this oval Sept. 11, the bay was second in the state-bred Shady Well S. Oct. 8 and returned to winning ways in the Glorious Song S. here 22 days later.

Live Oak's $550,000 OBSMAR buy Souper Hoity Toity (Uncle Mo) graduated at second asking on the grass here Oct. 1 and won an optional claimer on the local synthetic Nov. 6.

Spruce Stable's Mrs. Barbara (Bodemeister) may have just earned her diploma, but has already competed well in stakes company. Off the board in her turf sprint debut at Churchill June 17, she was second in a maiden special on the Woodbine synthetic a month later and completed the trifecta in the grass Catch a Glimpse S. here Aug. 21. Fourth in the turfy GI Natalma S. here Sept. 19, the dark bay rallied to victory in a two-turn maiden special weight on the local synthetic Nov. 7.

Rounding out the Casse quartet is Queen Judith (Empire Maker), who receives Lasix for the first time here. Closing strongly to take his debut at Kentucky Downs Sept. 5, the $260,000 OBSOPN purchase could only manage 10th last out in Keeneland's GII Jessamine S. Oct. 13.

Jonathan Thomas looks to upset the Casse crew with Kanta (Into Mischief). Fourth to Aubrieta in her Woodbine unveiling Sept. 11, the bay graduated next out when extended to two turns here Oct. 9.

Moira (Ghostzapper) earned her diploma and black-type badge in one foul swoop, rallying from well back to register a decisive score in the track-and-trip Princess Elizabeth S. Oct. 23.

Brown and Juddmonte Seek Turf Stakes Sweep

A few hours before Chad Brown saddles Juddmonte's Viadera (GB) (Bated Breath {GB}) in search of a title defense in the GI Matriarch S., he will send out that operation's Verbal (Flintshire {GB}) as the likely favorite in the GIII Cecil B. Demille S. at Del Mar Sunday. A homebred son of a freshman stallion raced by these connections, the bay rallied from well back to score an impressive debut victory going a mile at Belmont Oct. 10. His pilot that day, Jose Ortiz, makes the trip west to ride Verbal and Matriarch contender Regal Glory (Animal Kingdom).

Optimising (Ire) (Mehmas {Ire}) won his first start at Wolverhampton June 21 for trainer Michael Bell, after which he was privately acquired by these connections and sent to Michael McCarthy. Fourth in the Del Mar Juvenile Turf S. Sept. 6, the bay checked in second in the Qatar Golden Mile S. here Nov. 5.

Derecho Dandy (Connect) looks to take his turf record to two-for-two. Off the board in his first two tries on the main track here in August, the dark bay went wire-to-wire in his first turf try at Santa Anita Oct. 17.
