Great Lady M Highlights Los Alamitos Stakes Schedule

A trio of stakes, headed by the $200,000 GII Great Lady M S., highlight the upcoming Los Angeles County Fair meet at Los Alamitos. The nine-day season is scheduled to begin Friday, June 23 and continue through Sunday, July 9.

Racing will be conducted Friday-Sunday opening week (June 23-25), Saturday-Tuesday (July 1-4) the middle week and Saturday-Sunday (July 8-9) the final weekend. Post time will be 1 p.m.

Highlighting the stakes schedule with $425,000 in guaranteed purses, the six-furlong Great Lady M. S. will be offered Tuesday, July 4.

The $125,000-guaranteed Los Alamitos Derby for 3-year-olds will be contested Saturday, July 8 while the $100,000-guaranteed one-mile Bertrando S. is scheduled for Saturday, June 24.

Preakness 148 Offers Limited Edition Ale

Preakness 148 announced its partnership with Baltimore's Guinness Open Gate Brewery to launch “Preakness Ale”. The limited edition collaboration beer brewed with blood orange and hibiscus will debut May 11 on draft and in cans to-go at Guinness Open Gate Brewery, at select Baltimore area bars while supplies last and at Pimlico during Preakness weekend.

The “Preakness Ale” was brewed exclusively at Guinness Open Gate Brewery in their 10-barrel innovation brewery, where Irish brewing experience meets American beer creativity. At a 5% ABV with a ruby red hue, the fruit-forward beer brings bold flavor and aroma. The Guinness Open Gate Brewery will also serve a special beer cocktail inspired by the iconic Black-Eyed Susan incorporating Preakness Ale and a fresh pineapple-based mixer.

MJC to Host Hiring Fair at Pimlico

The Maryland Jockey Club announced it will host a hiring fair Apr. 20. Open to the public from 1-4:00 p.m., the fair will offer short- and long-term employment opportunities with local businesses including Select Event Group, SAFE Management, The Beadle Group, Battle Tested Security, Ridgewells Catering, Atlas Restaurant Group and the Maryland Jockey Club.

Positions that a slew of companies will look to fill at this year's fair include: line and prep cooks, host staff, servers, kitchen, assistants, buffet managers, action station attendants, tent chefs and supervisors, unarmed event security staff, facilities staff, transportation drivers, commercial driving license (CDL) drivers

field crew project and junior foremen project managers.

Parking is free and will be available in the Clubhouse Parking Lot off Hayward Avenue. Attendance to the event is free and open to the public. Attendees should dress professionally and bring resumés.

Keeneland Expands Public, Corporate Hospitality

Keeneland Hospitality announced a number of new offerings in its stable of unique experiences available to the public through its Keeneland Crafted brand along with expanded enhancements for corporate and private events designed to meet the goals of clients.

Keeneland Hospitality, under its Keeneland Crafted banner, will offer both new and returning ticketed events for the public May through August. These curated events include:

A Taste of Keeneland Tour (May-July). Guests will embark on a behind-the-scenes racing tour with a signature race-day cocktail and participate in a mock betting challenge. Tickets are $65 each.

  • The Exhibit Dinner (May 24 and July 19). A six-course specialty dining experience held at Keeneland Library, which is presenting an exhibit about African American horsemen and – women titled Heart of the Turf: Racing's Black Pioneers. Tickets are $200 each.
  • The Chef's Secret Dinner Series (May 18, June 21, July 27, Aug. 23). Locally sourced cuisine, craft cocktails and live music in surprise unexpected locations throughout the Keeneland grounds. Tickets are $150 each.
  • Breakfast at the Track (June 17). Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children. Kids 3 and under get in free.
