Shaquille’s Fee Set at £15,000; Soldier’s Call Moves to Dullingham Park

As the line-up continues to take shape at Steve Parkin's new stallion operation at Dullingham Park near Newmarket, it has been announced that the G2 Flying Childers winner Soldier's Call (GB) will move from Ireland to join this season's top-rated sprinter Shaquille (GB) on the roster.

In his debut season, Shaquille will stand for £15,000, while Soldier's Call's fee for 2024 will be £8,500. He stood at €7,500 this season and covered 190 mares.

One of this year's leading first-season sires, Soldier's Call began his career at Joe Foley's Ballyhane Stud and has to date been represented by 25 individual winners, including the G3 Prix Eclipse winner Dawn Charger (Ire). He became the first Royal Ascot winner for Parkin's Clipper Logistics and also for his trainer Archie Watson in the Listed Windsor Castle S. Later that season he was third, beaten a neck, when competing against his elders in the G1 Prix de l'Abbaye.

Parkin said, “Soldier's Call is obviously very close to my heart. He gave us so many great days on the racecourse, and we couldn't be happier with the start that he has made at Ballyhane Stud, thanks to the support of the breeders in Ireland. He is siring plenty of fast two-year-olds very much in his image, and we look forward to bringing him to England to bolster our roster alongside the hugely exciting dual Group 1 winner Shaquille.”

Foley, who is director of operations at Dullingham Park as well as running Ballyhane, added, “We're all delighted with the fast start that Soldier's Call has made. He's proven himself to be a talented stallion and I'm sure he'll be a great success in Dullingham Park.”

Sea The Stars and Siyouni to Stand at €200,000 in 2024

Sea the Stars (Ire) and Siyouni (Fr), the flagship stallions of the Aga Khan Studs in Ireland and France respectively, have each had their fees increased to €200,000 for 2024. Representing a career high for both stallions, Sea The Stars stood at €180,000 in 2023 and covered 180 mares, while Siyouni covered 135 at €150,000.

The Aga Khan Studs will have two new stallions next season, with last year's Cartier champion 3-year-old, the G1 Prix du Jockey Club and G1 Eclipse S. winner Vadeni (Fr), joining the roster at Haras de Bonneval at €18,000. There he will stand alongside fellow newcomer Erevann (Fr), who is being introduced at €8,000.

Completing the team of four stallions in France is Zarak (Fr), whose fee will remain at €60,000 in a year in which he was represented by his first Group 1 winner, Zagrey (Fr), and covered 130 mares.

The leading sire in France and second in Europe by prize-money, Siyouni's year has been highlighted by the Classic winners Paddington (GB), who has recently joined the Coolmore roster, and Tahiyra (Fr), the winners of seven Group 1 races between them this season. There have also been Group 1 victories for Mqse De Sevigne (Fr) and the Australian filly Amelia's Jewel (Aus).

Siyouni is also the broodmare sire of new recruit Erevann, who is out of his first Classic winner Erevdya (Fr) and, like Zarak, a son of Dubawi (Ire). Beaten by half a length with third behind Inspiral (GB) in the G1 Prix Jacques le Marois, Erevann won the G2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein and G3 Prix Paul de Moussac.

Hukum (Ire), a recent recruit to Darley Japan, was the leading light for Sea The Stars (Ire) this season, whose quartet of Group 1 winners was completed by Emily Upjohn (GB), Sea Silk Road (Ire) and, in Australia, Just Fine (Ire). He also features as the broodmare sire of Friday's GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner Unquestionable (Fr) (Wootton Bassett {GB}).

Georges Rimaud, manager of the Aga Khan Studs in France, said, “With two internationally proven leading sires, one rapidly rising star and two exciting new stallions to offer breeders in 2024, we go into next year with as strong a roster as we have ever had. Fees Announced for Capital Stud Stallions

G3 Marble Hill S. winner and G1 Middle Park S. runner-up Castle Star (Ire) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}) will stand his first season at Capital Stud for a fee of €5,000. Breeding rights are available.

His stud-mate Alkumait (GB) (Showcasing {GB}), a Group 2-winning half-brother to 2,000 Guineas winner Chaldean (GB) (Frankel {GB}), will remain at €5,000. He covered 121 mares this year and has his first foals at the sales from later this month.

“Castle Star has settled in well to life at Capital Stud, he is letting down well, has an exceptional temperament and conformationally we can't fault him,” said stud manager Ger O'Neill. “We've already received plenty of interest, with some breeders already booked in. We are excited for the 2024 breeding season ahead and welcome breeders to come to see him.

“Alkumait has been very well supported in his first two seasons at stud and his first foals look the part. We look forward to seeing them at the upcoming foal sales and would like to wish all our clients well for sales ahead.”

Classic Sire Muhaarar’s Fee Announced

Champion sprinter Muhaarar (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}), who has moved to Haras du Petit Tellier for the 2024 breeding season, will stand for €14,000, co-owner Haras des Capucines announced on X.

Now owned by Shadwell and a consortium of French breeders including Haras des Capucines, and Haras de Saint-Pair, the bay is managed by Capucines Bloodstock, with Eric Puerari taking point.

The 11-year-old's year was highlighted by the victory of his son Marhaba Ya Sanafi (Ire) in the G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains. That runner would go on to place third in the G1 Prix du Jockey Club. Since the start of the year, he is responsible for nine stakes winners, with other three other Pattern horses among in G2 Princess Of Wales's S. hero Israr (GB) and two-time graded winner Motorious (GB) and G3 Bengough S. hero Annaf (Ire).

In total, Muhaarar has sired 24 stakes winners, half of them at group level. His other Group 1 winner is G1 British Champions Fillies & Mares S. heroine Eshaada (GB).

He bred 124 mares at Haras des Faunes in 2023.
