Vadamos To Grange Stud

Coolmore has purchased the G1 Prix du Moulin winner Vadamos (Fr) (Monsun {Ger}) from Tally-Ho Stud and will stand him under its National Hunter banner at Grange Stud for 2021 at a fee of €6,000. In addition to the Moulin, Vadamos won the G2 Prix du Muguet and the G3 Prix Messidor. He is out of the listed-winning Celebre Vadala (Fr) (Peintre Celebre), who is a half-sister to the dual Group 1 winner Valixir (Ire) (Trempolino). Vadamos is represented by his first 3-year-olds in 2021 and has thus far had 14 first crop winners headed by the G3 Acomb S. second Spycatcher (Ire).

“Vadamos is a smashing-looking horse who has made an excellent start with his first runners and we’re delighted to get him,” said Grange Stud Manager Albert Sherwood.

Robert Ng To Sponsor Minstrel S.

Racehorse owner Robert Ng has agreed to a three year sponsorship of The Curragh’s G2 Minstrel S., which will be run as the Romanised Minstrel S. in honor of Ng’s G1 Irish 2000 Guineas and G1 Prix Jacques le Marois winner Romanised (Ire) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}), who also won the Minstrel in 2019 and 2020. Romanised enters stud this year at Haras de Bouquetot in Normandy, France.

Ng said, “It gives me great pleasure to sponsor the Minstrel S. as The Curragh has been a lucky racecourse for me. It was very exciting to watch Romanised quicken like he did to win the 2019 and 2020 renewals of the G2 Minstrel S. at The Curragh. These successes also reminded me of the burst of acceleration Romanised showed when he won the Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas in 2018. I hope we will see more excellent performances in the future renewals of the Romanised Minstrel S.”

Thresholds Set For 2-Year-Old Races

As part of a small handful of changes to its race programme unveiled by the British Horseracing Authority on Wednesday, the governing body published the auction value thresholds for its previously announced combined 2-year-old novice and maiden programme:

-Band A: auction value of £50,000 – £80,000 or, if not sold at a sale, sire’s auction median of <£60,000 (35 races)
-Band B: £30,000 – £50,000 or sire’s median of <£40,000 (65 races)
-Band C: £15,001 – £30,000 or sire’s median of <£25,000 (150 races)
-Band D: £1 – £15,000 or sire’s median of <£12,500 (75 races)
-Open races (565)

Any horse running in a Band A-D restricted race will receive a two pound weight allowance for each band it runs in above that which it is qualified for.

Driven by the continuing coronavirus pandemic, amateur riders will be barred from race riding until further notice from Jan. 16 onwards. This is in line with government restrictions around the definition of elite sport and the associated suspension of grassroots sport. Hunter chases will continue to be programmed but restricted to professional and conditional riders.
