Lycetts Leadership & Team Champions Awards Launched

The 2021 Lycetts Leadership & Team Champions Awards were launched by the National Trainers Federation (NTF) and Lycetts Insurance Brokers on Monday.

Entries for the awards open on May 17 and close on June 30 with the winners invited to a hospitality event to receive prizes at Sandown Park Racecourse on Sept. 15, hosted by the NTF and Lycetts Insurance Brokers. The awards, which celebrate racehorse training yards which cultivate the best team ethos, exhibit outstanding leadership qualities and demonstrate innovative approaches to management, are divided into three categories. The categories are:

Lycetts Team Champions Award-£4,000 in prize money to the winning team
Lycetts Leadership Award-sponsored by George Smith Horseboxes and also worth £4,000
Farm & Stable Award for Innovation & Wellbeing-the winning trainer and team will win £2,000 of products from the range at Farm & Stable

Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas Likely For Fev Rover

Group 2 winner Fev Rover (Ire) (Gutaifan {Ire}), who ran third in the G1 QIPCO 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 2, will likely make her next appearance in the G1 Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas on May 23. Runner-up in the G2 Duchess Of Cambridge S. at second asking in July, the Richard Fahey-trained bay took a listed at Sandown later that month, before winning Deauville's G2 Shadwell Prix du Calvados on Aug. 22. The Nick Bradley Racing silksbearer ended her season with a fourth in the G1 Qatar Prix Marcel Boussac-Criterium des Pouliches in heavy going on Oct. 4. The 1000 Guineas was her first run as a sophomore.

“Fev Rover will work tomorrow and we will then have a think of what to do,” said Nick Bradley, Managing Director of Nick Bradley Racing. “We will look at the entries and either go there or wait for Ascot. At the moment I would say she is likely to go to Ireland.

“It was a great run in the 1000 Guineas and I think the track at The Curragh would suit her more than the Rowley Mile. If you watch her races she generally makes most of her ground up running up hill and The Curragh is a stiffer track than the Rowley Mile.

“Looking at the field so far for Sunday I'd like to think she could be up in the first two or three again on a track that will suit.”

High Definition to Improve From Dante

Erstwhile G1 Cazoo Derby hopeful High Definition (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) has emerged from his third-place run in the G2 Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Dante S. in good order. Trainer Aidan O'Brien is expecting more improvement from the previously unbeaten G2 Beresford S. victor. The colt had turned in unsatisfactory bloodwork earlier this month which had ruled him out of a start in the Lingfield Derby Trial and instead had seen him re-directed to the Knavesmire.

“High Definition is in good form,” said Aidan O'Brien of the Coolmore parterns/Westerberg runner. “He hasn't done much since York. I was very happy. Four days before he wasn't going to run and he'll come forward plenty.

“We always give them 10 days to two weeks to get back into full work and then see where they are. Ryan [Moore] was very happy with him. The pace died a bit in the middle and it might have suited if it had stayed strong.”

O'Brien stablemate and impressive G3 Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial S. winner Bolshoi Ballet (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) is currently favoured in the G1 Cazoo Derby markets.

Master of the Seas to Miss Royal Ascot With Injury

Master of the Seas (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}), a close second in the G1 QIPCO 2000 Guineas earlier this month has sustained a setback in training and will miss Royal Ascot in June, Godolphin announced on Monday. A winner of the G3 Craven S. at Newmarket in April, and the G2 Superlative S. at two, the Charlie Appleby trainee had been pointed at the G1 St James's Palace S.

“2000 Guineas runner up Master Of The Seas unfortunately had a setback after training on Saturday and will now be on the easy list for two to four weeks, meaning he will miss Royal Ascot,” Godolphin tweeted on Monday morning.
