Muhaarar’s Razzle Dazzle Another Rising Star at Newmarket

Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum's homebred 2-year-old colt Razzle Dazzle (GB) (Muhaarar {GB}) finished clear of the remainder when a promising debut second over Newmarket July's seven-furlong strip in his Aug. 6 debut last time and stepped forward to claim 'TDN Rising Stardom' with a most taking display in Friday's MansionBet Watch And Bet British EBF Novice S. back over the same course and distance. The Richard Hannon trainee and 10-11 favourite was swiftly into stride, despite jinking right at the break, and gained an immediate lead. In command throughout, he had all rivals on the stretch when bounding clear approaching the final furlong and extended his buffer under mild coaxing up the hill to outclass Unilateralism (Ire) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}) by an impressive 5 1/2 lengths.

“He is a lovely, big colt and I thought he would run well first time–and he duly did–and he would have improved for that,” commented trainer Richard Hannon. “He shaped with lots of promise first time and was still making up ground going to the line. I was even more pleased today, as he jumped out and was not keen, and he looked a very good horse out there in front. Let's see how he comes out of the race, he is in all the big races and has entries in the [G2] Champagne, [G2] Royal Lodge and [G1] Dewhurst. We will talk to Sheikh Obaid and decide what to do. It is all about next year with him, not about getting it while you can, as he is a long-term project.”

Razzle Dazzle, whose advance entries include an engagement in the Oct. 9 G1 Dewhurst S., is the sixth of seven foals and fourth scorer produced by an unraced granddaughter of G3 Prix du Bois victrix The Perfect Life (Ire) (Try My Best), herself a full-sister to MG1SW sire Last Tycoon (Ire) and the dam of G3 Gordon S.-winning sire Rabah (GB) (Nashwan) and G1 Cheveley Park S. third Najiya (GB) (Nashwan). The Perfect Life is also kin to MGSW sire Astronef (Ire) (Be My Guest) and to the dams of G1SW distaffers Immortal Verse (Ire) (Pivotal {GB}), Tie Black (Ire) (Machiavellian), Valentine Waltz (Ire) (Be Mu Guest) and Sense of Style (Thunder Gulch). The March-foaled homebred bay is full to a yearling colt.

Goat Makes Up Ground In Racing League

It will be a neck-and-neck battle to the finish line next Thursday at the final meeting of The Racing League at Newcastle, with Team Thoroughbid leading by a mere four points (321) after Thursday's penultimate meeting at Lingfield.

Goat Racing-comprising Newmarket trainers Charlie Fellowes, Hugo Palmer, Tom Clover and George Scott-cut into Team Thoroughbid's lead with two wins at Lingfield, both with the team's reserve rider Louis Steward in the saddle. The horses were the Palmer-trained Red October (Ire) (Dawn Approach {Ire}) and the Fellowes-trained Billhilly (Ger) (Sea The Stars {Ire}), the latter of which won another Racing League event two weeks ago.

Steward told Sky Sports Racing: “I'm delighted for the horse, and delighted for Charlie and the team, everyone at home and the owners. They've done such a good job with this horse, just to revive his career. It's so good to see, and great to be on his back today.”

Steward now sits in joint-first with Hayley Turner in the Racing League jockeys' standings.

Team Thoroughbid had one win on Thursday thanks to the Richard Hannon-trained and Sean Levey-ridden Typhoon Ten (Ire) (Slade Power {Ire}).

Shamardal’s Silk Romance Earns TDN Rising Star Honours at Newmarket

Godolphin's homebred 2-year-old filly Silk Romance (Ire) (Shamardal) encountered the racewise Tinderbox (GB) (Farhh {GB}), another Godolphin representative, when an Aug. 11 debut second tackling seven furlongs at Kempton in her only prior start and went postward with the weight of odds-on favouritism for Friday's MansionBet Proud To Support British Racing Fillies' Novice S. returning over the same trip at on turf bow at Newmarket. Positioned on the front end after an alert getaway, the 4-6 pick was shaken up to claim a decisive advantage approaching the final furlong and powered clear of toiling rivals on the climb to the line, earning 'TDN Rising Star' status with an impressive 5 1/2-length defeat of Stellar Queen (GB) (Muhaarar {GB}).

“She has naturally come forward for that first run at Kempton and I was pleased with the performance there today,” said trainer Charlie Appleby. “William [Buick] was very pleased with the performance too, he felt she is now ready to step up to black-type company and I think something like the [Sept. 24 G2] Rockfel [at Newmarket's Rowley Mile course] will be a potential target for her. It will be interesting to see how the Kempton winner [Tinderbox] gets on in the [G3] Prestige at Goodwood tomorrow.”

Silk Romance is the fifth of six foals and fourth scorer produced by G1 Fillies' Mile heroine Lyric of Light (GB) (Street Cry {Ire}), herself the leading performer out of Listed Dick Poole Fillies' S. victrix and G1 Cheveley Park S. runner-up Suez (GB) (Green Desert). The March-foaled homebred bay is a half-sister to G3 Sandown Classic Trial third Bright Melody (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) and a weanling colt by Gleneagles (Ire). Her fourth dam is MGSW matriarch Reprocolor (GB) (Jimmy Reppin {GB}).
