Purplepay Unsold at €1.35m as Milldam Makes €145k at Auctav

The latest Auctav Flash Sale concluded on Thursday, with G1 Criterium International third Purplepay (Fr) (Zarak {Fr}) unsold at €1,350,000 and 3-year-old gelding Milldam (Fr) (Martaline {GB}) knocked down for €145,000 to Lucy Snowden. Placed three times hurdling, Milldam (lot 1) is from the family of Dayladam (Fr) (Cyborg {Fr}) and Polidam (Fr) (Trempolino). He will be trained by Jamie Snowden and is bound for the Cheltenham Festival.

Co-owners Jean-Pierre Dubois and Ecurie Hunter Valley will be keeping Purplepay (lot 2). Trained by Cedric Rossi, the filly has only been off the board once in eight starts and sports a Vichy maiden win and a pair of conditions wins at Marseille Borely on Sept. 9 and at ParisLongchamp on Oct. 2. Bred by Lemiere Dubois, she originally hammered at €100,000 during the 2020 Arqana September Yearling Sale in Deauville.

“Seeing seven-figure auctions, is what we dreamed of when we created Auctav in March 2021 and I can only be happy about that because we were honored by the confidence of Purplepay's vendors in this Flash Sale,” said Auctav Managing Director Arnaud Angeliaume. “A sale would have really been the icing on the cake, but seeing the international interest Purplepay generated strengthens our confidence in our 100% online philosophy and in the Flash Sales system. The purchase of Milldam by Lucy Snowden shows that some of our buyers are already becoming regulars, satisfied with their first experience on our platform. We can only thank Richard Corveller and Arnaud Chaillé-Chaillé. They are not what you could call regulars at auctions and they have placed their trust in Auctav.”

In 2021, the grey's Skalleti (Fr) won the G1 Prix d'Ispahan and the G1 Grosser Dallmayr Preis to become his sire's first Group 1 scorer. Tokyo Gold (Fr) won the G2 Derby Italiano and was runner-up in the GI Belmont Derby in America. Time Test Breeding Right Leads at Tattersalls Online

A breeding right in progressive young stallion Time Test (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) was purchased for 100,000gns by Blandford Bloodstock's Tom Goff to top the Tattersalls Online Sale on Friday. Blandford Bloodstock also teamed up with Wardley Bloodstock to acquire the remaining lot, a breeding right in Ardad (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) for 75,000gns.

Lot 2 was offered on behalf of a gentleman. The National Stud resident has already sired four black-type winners in his first crop led by G3 Dick Poole S. heroine Romantic Time (GB) and German Group 3 winner Rocchigiani (GB). The King's Horses (GB) has won at the listed level in Italy and has also placed in the G3 Premio Primi Passi, while Tardis (GB) captured the Listed St Hugh's S. at Newbury. The winning Sunset Shiraz (Ire) has earned black-type four times and was third in the G1 Moyglare Stud S. Overall, the dual Group 2 winner and multiple Group 1-placed Time Test has sired 11 winners to date.

“The Time Test breeding right has been bought for an overseas investor who wishes to remain anonymous,” said Goff. “They approached us earlier in the week about it. The sire is a fantastic addition to the National Stud's roster and has started very well, achieving more than most people expected of him at this stage. He has some excellent crops sizes to come and it's all ahead of him really.”

G2 Flying Childers S. hero Ardad has also enjoyed an excellent season with his first crop of runners. The National Stud consigned the breeding right (lot 1) in the sire of 21 winners. His pair of black-type winners are led by G1 Middle Park S. and G1 Prix Morny hero Perfect Power (Ire). Eve Lodge (GB) won the G3 Sirenia S. and Ardad also has the G2 Coventry S. third Vintage Clarets (GB). It was announced on Thursday that he will stand for £12,500 at Overbury Stud in 2022.

“I am really delighted to secure the breeding right to Ardad for Wardley Bloodstock,” said Goff. “What the sire has achieved this year is nothing short of sensational. My client is very excited to get involved in what is already a remarkable bloodstock story.”
