Northern Farm Strikes for Flotus at 1 Million Guineas at Tattersalls

Flotus (Ire) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}) (lot 1798), who ran second in the G1 Cheveley Park S. earlier this year, broke the seven-figure mark at 1 million gns to Katsumi Yoshida's Northern Farm on Tuesday. The new topper, consigned by Gainsborough Thoroughbreds, also won a listed race and her dam is a half-sister to G1 Phoenix S. third Lottie Dod (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) and the dual group-placed Rockaway Valley (Ire) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}). Bred by Newtown Stud and T. J. Pabst, the juvenile hammered at €65,000 as a Goffs November foal and progressed to make 125,000gns as a Tattersalls October yearling last autumn. Earlier in the session, Northern Farm representative Shingo Hashimoto was in action for the 750,000 gns Dandalla (Ire) (Dandy Man {Ire}) (lot 1735), among a trio of six-figure lots.

Registration Open For ITM Irish Stallion Trail

The 2022 Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Irish Stallion Trail, which includes over 25 participating farms, will last from Jan. 14-15, 2022 and registration for the event is now open. Free to attend, visitors are asked to register for which studs they intend to visit via the ITM website. Due to high demand, it is mandatory to register for a specific date and time slot in order to visit Coolmore Stud. Please note that the dates and format of the Irish Stallion Trail may change due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, visitors are asked to comply with a COVID-19 code of conduct developed by Horse Racing Ireland Health and Safety, wear masks, sanitise hands, and observe social distancing when visiting farms. There will also be no indoor element to the Irish Stallion Trail, so visitors should dress appropriately.

Zerolo Adds Shades of Blue to Brant’s Portfolio at 850,000gns

Lot 1765, the 5-year-old Shades of Blue (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) became the new Tattersalls December topper when hammering for 850,000gns to Michel Zerolo of Oceanic Bloodstock on behalf of Peter Brant's White Birch Farm. Part of The Castlebridge Consignment, the French listed winner, who placed twice at group level, is carrying to Frankel (GB) and will visit Brant's Arc hero Sottsass (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}). Under the second dam is dual Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed stallion Gutaifan (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}). Shades of Blue's most recent prior sale was as a 320,000-gns purchase by BBA Ireland from the 2020 Tattersalls December Sale.

Northern Farm Buys Dandalla For 750,000gns at Tattersalls December

Dandalla (Ire) (Dandy Man {Ire}) was the first mare to breach the 750,000gns mark at the Tattersalls December Mare Sale, which was in its second session on Wednesday. Northern Farm struck for lot 1735, who was consigned by Karl Burke's Spigot Lodge Stables on behalf of Nick Bradley Racing 28 & Partner. A winner of the G2 Duchess Of Cambridge S., G3 Albany S. and the Listed The Arran Scottish Sprint EBF Fillies' S., the Robert Norton-bred was also fourth in this year's G1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. Dandalla originally sold for €15,500 as a Goffs November foal and brought €22,000 from Kelly Burke at the 2020 Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale. Her winning dam Chellalla (GB) (Elnadim) is a half-sister to stakes winner Konkan (Ire) (Aussie Rules).
