Santa Anita: Pyfer Caps Four-Win Day In Anchor Leg Of Mandatory Payout Rainbow 6

With a mandatory payout in place, there was $4,623,265 in new money wagered in Santa Anita's popular 20 Cent Rainbow Pick 6 Jackpot on Sunday, making for a total 'Rainbow Six' pool of $5,171,437 at the Arcadia, Calif., track.

There was a Jackpot carryover of $548,172 after Saturday's races, which helped generate a frenzy of parimutuel action on Sunday, resulting in a Rainbow 6 payout of $267.20 on 15,256 tickets.

The Jeff Mullins- trained, Predictable Tully, with Tiago Pereira up, initiated a form-full beginning to Sunday's Rainbow 6 as the 7-5 favorite won by 1 ½ lengths and returned $4.80 to win.

Sunday's Rainbow 6, which was comprised of races four through nine, produced the following $2 win payoffs:  R4, #7 Predictable Tully ($4.80); R5, #9 Mount Pelliar ($6.40); R6, #2 Mr. Impossible ($6.40); R7, #7 Lofty ($7.40); R8, #5 Tobacco Road ($7.40); R9, #4 Sweet Devil ($10.00). The latter gave leading apprentice Jessica Pyfer her fourth winner of the day.

Mandatory Rainbow 6 Payout Set For Santa Anita Derby Day April 3

With a tremendous 12-race card in prospect and the 84th running of the Grade 1, $750,000 Runhappy Santa Anita Derby headlining a total of six stakes on Saturday, there is a mandatory payout and thus the possibility of a 20 cent Rainbow Pick 6 pool of $5 million according to track officials in Arcadia, Calif.

With the Runhappy Santa Anita Derby carded as race eight, it will be leg two in the Rainbow 6 and be broadcast live on NBCSN and on Fox Sports, with approximate post time set at 4:15 p.m. PT.

Saturday's Rainbow 6 will start with race seven, with post time projected for 3:45 p.m. PT.

In addition to the Runhappy Santa Anita Derby, Saturday's blockbuster program will include the G2, $400,000 Sant Anita Oaks, the G2, $200,000 Royal Heroine, the G3, $100,000 Providencia, the $150,000 Evening Jewel, and the $150,000 Echo Eddie.

Entries for Saturday's races will be taken Wednesday morning and will be available at santaanita.com later in the afternoon.

Beginning this Friday, Santa Anita is reopening to the General Public on a limited basis.  Fans are encouraged to visit santaanita.com/open beginning at 10 a.m. PT Monday to obtain reserve seating.

Due to state and local COVID guidelines, there will be no walk-up admission and all attendees must pre-register for proof of reserved seating.  All admission as well as food and beverage transactions are required to be contactless, with no cash accepted.

Santa Anita Rainbow Pick 6 To Have Mandatory Payout On Big ‘Cap Day

Providing there is no Single Ticket winner on Sunday or Friday, Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif., has announced there will be a mandatory payout in its popular 20 cent Single Ticket Rainbow Pick 6 Jackpot on Santa Anita Handicap day, next Saturday, March 6 ,and track officials project the total Rainbow 6 pool could reach $6 million.

There was no Single Ticket winner today, resulting in a carryover of $509,265 into Sunday's nine-race card, which gets underway at 12:30 p.m. PT.  Approximate post time for Sunday's fourth race, the beginning of the Rainbow 6, is at 2:06 p.m. PT.

With a carryover from Friday of $460,345, there was $213,688 in new money wagered Saturday, creating a total Jackpot pool of $674,033.  Although there was no Single Ticket winner, there were 34 tickets with six winners, each worth $3,399.25.

Sunday's main event is the $100,000 Tiznow Stakes, for California-bred or sired horses four and up at one mile.  Santa Anita morning line maker Jon White has installed the Harris Farms homebred Fashionably Fast as the 6-5 morning line favorite.

Santa Anita: Mandatory Payout, $1 Million Jackpot Carryover Should Fuel Big Rainbow 6 Pool On Closing Day

With a mandatory payout component that will be sure to fuel the pari-mutuel fires, Santa Anita officials project Sunday's 20 cent Single Ticket Rainbow Pick Six Jackpot pool could approach $5 million.

With a Jackpot carryover from Saturday of $1,089,836 to get the party started, Sunday's Rainbow Six will begin with race seven and conclude with the day's 12th and final race at the Arcadia, Calif., track.

Field size over the six-race sequence stands at 9.1 runners per race and race seven is the $150,000 Melair Stakes for California-bred or sired fillies and mares at a mile and one sixteenth.

Perhaps the best betting race on the entire program, the Grade III, $100,000 American Stakes, which offers players a field of 10 three year olds and up at one mile on turf, has been carded as Sunday's 10th race, leg four in the Rainbow Six.

First post time Sunday is at 12:30 p.m., with approximate post time for race seven at 3:33 p.m. PT.

In addition to the Melair Stakes and the American Stakes, Santa Anita will also present the track's traditional closing day feature, the Grade III, $100,000 San Juan Capistrano at a mile and three quarters on turf (R6), the $150,000 Melair Stakes (R7) and the $75,000 Siren Lure (R1).
