Slumber to Stand at Rockridge Stud

Slumber (GB) (Cacique {Ire}–Sound Asleep, by Woodman), the sire of the stakes-winning Fluffy Socks from his first crop, will join the roster at Rockridge Stud in Hudson, NY, for the 2021 breeding season.

“We are honored to have Slumber join us at Rockridge,” said owner and operator Lere Visagie. “This horse already has a stakes winner with a very modest first crop, and that kind of stallion can really be useful in New York.”

By a full-brother to the likes of Dansili (GB) and Champs Elysees (GB), Slumber was a listed winner and placed three times at Group 3 level in Europe. He scored his biggest victory in this country when defeating Big Blue Kitten (Kitten’s Joy) in the 2015 GI Manhattan S. He was also placed in the GI United Nations S. at 11 furlongs and in the GI Joe Hirsch Turf Classic going a mile and a half ahead of a close fourth in the

GI Breeders’ Cup Turf.

Produced by an unraced daughter of GISW Sleep Easy (Seattle Slew), Slumber hails from the Juddmonte female family of MGISW and multiple Classic-placed Aptitude (A.P. Indy).

Slumber To Stand 2021 Breeding Season At Rockbridge Stud In New York

Top 25 freshman sire Slumber (Gb) (Cacique (Ire) – Sound Asleep by Woodman) will join the stallion roster at Rockridge Stud in Hudson, N.Y., beginning with the 2021 season.

Slumber, full-brother to successful European sires Dansili (Gb) and Champs Elysees (Gb), was a Grade 1 winner in New York (Manhattan S.), and won or placed in 13 stakes races in the U.S. and England – 11 of which were group/graded stakes (five G1 races).

Slumber's first crop are 2-year-olds of 2020. With only six runners to date, he already has a first-crop stakes winner, Fluffy Socks, a homebred for Head of Plains Partners trained by Chad Brown. Winner of the Selima Stakes at Pimlico on Oct. 3, Fluffy Socks was second to stablemate Ingrassia in the Chelsey Flower Stakes at Belmont Park on Nov. 1 in her most recent start.

Slumber previously stood at Calumet Farm in Kentucky.

“We are honored to have Slumber join us at Rockridge,” says owner and operator Lere Visagie. “This horse already has a stakes winner with a very modest first crop, and that kind of stallion can really be useful in New York.”

Slumber's fee is listed as private for 2021 and the stallion is available for inspection at any time.

Frank Conversation Shuttling To Chile For Southern Hemisphere Season

Frank Conversation, a multiple graded stakes-winning son of Quality Road (out of Rushen Heat by Unusual Heat), will shuttle to Haras Santa Sara in Santiago, Chile for the 2020 Southern Hemisphere breeding season.

Frank Conversation just completed his second year at stud at Rockridge Stud in Hudson, N.Y.

“We're thrilled with the quality of his first crop of foals, and would love to see international success for the horse,” says Rockridge Stud's Lere Visagie. “An opportunity to shuttle just seemed like a no-brainer.”

The deal was brokered by Bowling Bloodstock and Sullivan Bloodstock.

“We've had great success in the past with Santa Sara, most recently having sent Goldencents there,” says Matt Bowling of Bowling Bloodstock. “They take very good care of the horses and we think Frank will be well-received there.”
