Hello You Earns Breeders’ Cup Berth In Rockfel Stakes

Amo Racing Limited's Hello You (IRE) announced herself as one of the best 2-year-old fillies in Europe, as she quickened clear in Friday's Unibet Rockfel Stakes (G2) at Newmarket's Rowley Mile course. Her 1 ½-length success secures a guaranteed start into the US$1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) as part of the Breeders' Cup Challenge Series.

The Breeders' Cup Challenge Series is an international series of stakes races whose winners receive automatic starting positions and fees paid into a corresponding race of the Breeders' Cup World Championships, which will be held at Del Mar racetrack in Del Mar, California, on Nov. 5-6.

Hello You, a bay daughter of Invincible Spirit (IRE) out of the Pivotal (GB) mare Lucrece (GB), won impressively on her debut at Wolverhampton back in May but had been unable to get her head in front in four efforts since. Ridden by her regular partner Rossa Ryan, Hello You sat just off the pace set by the George Boughey-trained pair Oscula (IRE) and Cachet (IRE) before accelerating past them both to give young trainer David Loughnane a second Group 2 success of the season, after Go Bears Go (IRE) claimed the GAIN Railway Stakes (G2) at The Curragh in June.

Hello You moved yards from Ralph Beckett to Loughnane at the start of August and her new trainer acknowledged Beckett's work with the filly.

Loughnane said: “She's strengthened up loads over the last month. She arrived with us from Mr. Beckett's in great order, and we're very privileged and lucky to have a horse of her caliber in the yard. I think she'd go on any ground. I said beforehand that she's a Group horse and deserved a Group win beside her name – and I'm delighted she's proved herself today. The Amo team have thought a lot of her from day one. She was very impressive on debut, and you couldn't knock what she did at Royal Ascot.”

When asked about Hello You's future plans, Loughnane declared that connections have their sights set on a trip to the Breeders' Cup.

“I know Kia (Joorabchian) is very keen to potentially have a crack at the Breeders' Cup (Juvenile Fillies Turf) in Del Mar in November. We've always felt she'll be better over 1-mile and she's just outstayed them today over the 7 furlongs.”

Newmarket trainer George Boughey has enjoyed a fantastic season, and he saddled both Cachet and Oscula to finish 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Hello You (7/1) finished the 7-furlongs in 1:23:12, defeating eight rivals over a course listed as good-to-firm.

As part of the benefits of the Challenge Series, the Breeders' Cup will pay the entry fees for Hello You to start in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, which will be run at 1-mile over the Del Mar turf course. Breeders' Cup will also provide a travel allowance of US$40,000 for all starters based outside of North America to compete in the World Championships. The Challenge winner must be nominated to the Breeders' Cup program by the Championships' pre-entry deadline of Oct. 25 to receive the rewards.

Frankel Filly Majestic Glory Chasing Breeders’ Cup Berth In Friday’s Rockfel Stakes

Mrs. Doreen Tabor's Majestic Glory (GB) will bid to complete a hat-trick of wins in Friday's Unibet Rockfel Stakes (G2) for 2-year-old fillies run on Newmarket's Rowley Mile course. The daughter of Frankel (GB) faces nine rivals in the 7-furlong contest, which offers a guaranteed fees-paid berth into the US$1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) as part of the Breeders' Cup Challenge Series.

The Breeders' Cup Challenge Series is an international series of stakes races whose winners receive automatic starting positions and fees paid into a corresponding race of the Breeders' Cup World Championships, which will be held at Del Mar racetrack in Del Mar, California, on Nov. 5-6.

The Andrew Balding-trained Majestic Glory won at her third attempt in a Novice Stakes at Newmarket's July course and followed up with a win in the RacingTV Profits Back To Racing Sweet Solera Stakes (G3) last month, defeating subsequent Group 1 winner Wild Beauty (GB) into second. Ryan Moore will be on board the filly for the first time on Friday.

Newmarket trainer George Boughey runs two in the race, Oscula (IRE) and Cachet (IRE), with the latter finishing a disappointing seventh, after missing the break, in the Prix d'Aumale (Group 3) at ParisLongchamp in her last start.

Boughey said: “Cachet was unlucky in France, she was slow out of the gate, which she has been the last twice. I think you'll see a different Cachet on Friday. She looks great now.”

Meanwhile, Oscula will be having her eighth start of the season. The daughter of Galileo Gold (GB) won the Prix Six Perfections Sky Sports Racing (G3) at Deauville in August, before finishing third as the 7-5 favorite in the Prix Du Calvados (G2) at the same track last time.

Boughey said: “I think she'll run a massive race. I think she's up to this level. She's got to handle Newmarket, she wouldn't have done a huge amount of work on the track, unlike most of mine, so that's a little bit new to her. Her style of racing should suit it.”

The Ralph Beckett-trained Girl On Film (FR) was an impressive maiden winner on Newmarket's July course in her Aug. 7 debut for owners John and Tanya Gunther. A daughter of Dabirsim (FR), Girl On Film will be ridden by Frankie Dettori.

Also putting an unbeaten record on the line is the Roger Charlton-trained Jumbly (GB), who made it two wins from two starts with a comfortable success on Kempton's All-Weather track on Sept. 3.

Romantic Time (GB) has won three of her last four starts, most recently the Ire Incentive Scheme Dick Poole Fillies' Stakes (G3) at Salisbury, over 6 furlongs. Marco Ghiani, currently leading the Apprentice Jockeys' Championship, takes the ride.

Hello You (IRE), Sunstrike (IRE), Kawida (GB) and Femme Friendly (GB) complete the field.

As part of the benefits of the Challenge Series, the Breeders' Cup will pay the entry fees for the winner of the Unibet Rockfel Stakes to start in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, which will be run at 1-mile over the Del Mar turf course. Breeders' Cup will also provide a travel allowance of US$40,000 for all starters based outside of North America to compete in the World Championships. The Challenge winner must be nominated to the Breeders' Cup program by the Championships' pre-entry deadline of Oct. 25 to receive the rewards.

Murphy’s Law At Newmarket On Friday

Newmarket’s Friday fixture is replete with black-type events and it is Oisin Murphy who holds the key to the featured G2 Shadwell Joel S. Having partnered the impressive 2019 winner Benbatl (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), he hands that ride to Frankie Dettori this time as he helps prepare Qatar Racing’s G1 2000 Guineas winner Kameko (Kitten’s Joy) for the G1 Queen Elizabeth II S. Kameko has by dint of fate and circumstance failed to make the places in three starts after his finest hour when taking that mile Classic on June 6 and he is back over the same course and distance here in a no-excuse exercise. “Benbatl is one of the highest-rated horses in the world and Kameko is a Classic winner who ran the fastest-ever Guineas, so it’s a mouthwatering prospect,” Murphy said. “It will be hard for Kameko with the penalty–we have to give Benbatl a pound–but there were limited options and he’s in super form and ready to run. I obviously love Benbatl. I only raced against him once and that was in the Juddmonte International when I won on Roaring Lion. I’ve ridden Benbatl in work recently as well and he’s also in super form.”

With two of Kameko’s subsequent defeats coming over further than 10 furlongs and his only other outing at this trip resulting in a luckless fourth in the G1 Sussex S. at Goodwood on July 29, his rider is happy that he is at the right distance. “He travelled very well in the Sussex and got into second place in the Juddmonte, having sat last, and then his run petered out at the line,” he explained. “Hopefully the ground continues to dry today–both he and Benbatl want top of the ground.”

Last year, Benbatl was winning this off a 10-month gap before finishing a tailed-off last in the QEII at Ascot but he proved in the spring that he retains all his ability and was last seen finishing third in the inaugural Saudi Cup on dirt at Riyadh on Feb. 29. Saeed bin Suroor said he wants the rain to stay away. “He did his last piece of work on the Watered Gallop here in Newmarket and he is doing really well,” he commented. “It is his first run in Europe since he went to Dubai and Saudi Arabia. We are looking for a good result from him. It’s a tough race, but he won it last year and it’s the right race for him. We don’t want the ground to be too soft–good ground would be good for him.”

This is no two-horse race, with Cheveley Park Stud’s talented but mercurial Regal Reality (GB) (Intello {Ger}), Saeed Manana’s Sept. 5 G3 Superior Mile winner Top Rank (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) and Khalid Abdullah’s July 31 G3 Thoroughbred S. scorer Tilsit (First Defence) also in contention.

Also on the card is the G2 Shadwell Rockfel S., where Ballydoyle’s Sept. 12 Listed Ingabelle S. winner Monday (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) and Paul and Clare Rooney’s seven-length Aug. 29 G3 Prestige S. scorer Isabella Giles (Ire) (Belardo {Ire}) appear to be the main protagonists.

The G3 Princess Royal Muhaarar S. sees Kirsten Rausing’s Aug. 20 G1 Yorkshire Oaks runner-up Alpinista (GB) (Frankel {GB}) set the standard, but she faces some up-and-comers including Qatar Racing’s impressive Aug. 1 Listed Chalice S. winner Katara (Fr) (Deep Impact {Jpn}).

Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf Berth On The Line In Friday’s Shadwell Rockfel Stakes

Ms. Susan Lynas' Santosha (IRE) will bid to get her season back on track in Friday's Shadwell Rockfel Stakes (G2) at Newmarket. She is one of five 2-year-old fillies in the 7-furlong contest, which offers a guaranteed fees-paid berth into the US$1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) as part of the ”Win and You're In” international Breeders' Cup Challenge Series.

The Breeders' Cup Challenge is a series of stakes races whose winners receive automatic starting positions and fees paid into corresponding races of the Breeders' Cup World Championships, which is scheduled to be held at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky, on Nov. 6-7.

Santosha provided young trainer David Loughnane with the biggest win of his career when landing the Princess Margaret Stakes (G3) at Ascot in July and Loughnane believes her latest run, an eighth-place finish in the Sky Bet Lowther Stakes (G2) on Aug. 20, can be ignored.

Loughnane said: “The Lowther was just one race too many for her. She got very wound up in the paddock before and then fell asleep a bit in the stalls and missed the kick. She has had a nice break since York. We feel that she has every right to be here and hopefully we can get her season back on track.”

When asked whether Santosha could head to Keeneland for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, Loughnane said: “Every race is on the table for her but we'll take it one race at a time. We certainly wouldn't turn our noses up at the Breeders' Cup if it was the right option for her.”

Aidan O'Brien has won the Shadwell Rockfel Stakes three times in his career, most recently with Just Wonderful, who won the 2018 renewal before going on to finish fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Churchill Downs. He relies on Ballylynch Stud/Irish EBF Ingabelle Stakes listed winner Monday, bred in Kentucky by Chelston, Orpendale & Wynatt, in Friday's contest. Monday is the first foal out of Group 1-winning juvenile Ballydoyle (IRE). She will be ridden by Ryan Moore.

Isabella Giles (IRE), a 7-length winner of the Ladbrokes Prestige Stakes (G3) at Goodwood last time, has won three of her four career starts, with her only defeat coming at the hands of Santosha in the Princess Margaret Stakes. She is trained by Clive Cox and will be ridden by Adam Kirby.

Last year's Rockfel winner, Daahyeh (GB), went on to finish second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Santa Anita. Her trainer Roger Varian, saddles Nazuna (IRE), a Kodiac (GB) filly who was second on her latest start at Doncaster.

The field is completed by Alba Rose (GB), a decisive winner of a novice stakes race over 7-furlongs at Thirsk. Mark Johnston trains the daughter of Muhaarar (GB), who will once again be ridden by Joe Fanning.

As part of the benefits of the Challenge Series, the Breeders' Cup will pay the entry fees for the winner of the Shadwell Rockfel Stakes to start in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, which will be run at 1-mile over the Keeneland turf course. Breeders' Cup also will provide a travel allowance of $40,000 for all starters based outside of North America to compete in the World Championships. The Challenge winner must already be nominated to the Breeders' Cup program by the Championships' pre-entry deadline of Oct. 26 to receive the rewards.
