Diva Victoria Joins Arqana February Mixed Sale

The winner Diva Victoria (Fr) (Recorder {GB}) (lot 70) has been added as a wildcard to the upcoming Arqana February Mixed Sale. Offered by trainer Jean-Claude Rouget, the great granddaughter of the G1 Oaks heroine Eswarah (GB) (Unfuwain) will go through the ring on Tuesday, Feb. 15 along with the other 95 horses-in-training. Her dam is a half-sister to G2 Prix de Pomone and G3 Prix de Psyche victress Raabihah (Sea The Stars {Ire}), who also ran second in the G1 Prix Vermeille. Diva Victoria, who is currently rated 85, won a Cagnes-sur-Mer maiden race by five lengths on Feb. 11.

Deauville hosts the two-day sale on Feb. 15-16, with sessions beginning at 11 a.m. local time each day.

Six Wild Cards Added to Arqana Autumn

A pair of flat performers and four jumpers have been added to the Autumn Sale catalogue as Wild Card entries, including 2-year-old Quessigny (Fr) (Recorder {GB}), offered as Lot 367 and Whizz Kid (Ger) (Teofilo {Ire}), who is catalogued as Lot 368. The Wild Card offerings will go under the hammer in Deauville Nov. 15 alongside the 184 horses-in-training already catalogued. An additional 15 Wild Cards will be added to this section.

Heading the flat entrants, Antoine de Watrigant's juvenile colt Quessigny most recently won the Coupe des 2 ans at Toulouse over 1600 metres. Also recent winner in France, Whizz Kid won at Saint-Cloud in the colours of Klaus Allofs and Gestüt Fahrhof and trainer Peter Schiergen. A half-brother to Grade I winner Wake Forest (Ger) (Sir Percy {GB}), he is out of the black-type mare Wurfspeil (Ger) hails from the family of Arc hero Waldgeist (Ger).

Over jumps, Donatien Sourdeau de Beauregard offers two lots–Keep Running (Fr) (Turgeon), who will go under the hammer as lot 391 and Ice Coast (Fr) (Coastal Path {GB}), offered as lot 402. A winner by three lengths on his first outing over hurdles at Nantes over 3,500 metres, Particuliere Dream (Fr) (Peer Gynt {Jpn}) is catalogued as lot 392, while High Game Royal (Fr) (Martaline {GB}) will be offered as lot 403. Recently runner-up over 3000 metres on his first start, the latter is a brother to G2 Prix Congress scorer Echiquier Royal (Fr).

Freshman Sire Recorder Off The Mark at Lyon-Parilly

Montfort et Preaux sire Recorder (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) became the latest European freshman off the mark when Finn Blichfeldt's 21-10 favourite Hot Queen (Fr) shed maiden status with an all-the-way win in Monday's Prix des Iris over 1350 metres at Lyon-Parilly.

HOT QUEEN (FR) (f, 2, Recorder {GB}–Hot Fudge {Swe} {Ch. Grass Mare-Sca, Ch. Older Mare-Sca & SP-Nor}, by Lomitas {GB}) hit the board in her two latest starts, including a June 8 last-out second over six furlongs at Saint-Cloud, and made a sharp getaway to establish a clear lead by halfway in this fourth outing. Allowed an inch of rein passing the quarter-mile marker, the 21-10 favourite came under increased pressure for a period and kept on strongly in the closing stages to easily hold Alromy (Fr) (Al Wukair {Ire}) by a geared-down three lengths, becoming the first winner for her freshman sire (by Galileo {Ire}). She is the latest of eight foals and fifth scorer produced by the stakes-placed dual Scandinavian champion distaffer Hot Fudge (Swe) (Lomitas {GB}). The March-foaled chestnut hails from a family featuring G1 Dubai Duty Free-winning sire Right Approach (GB) (Machiavellian), dual Classic heroine Highclere (GB) (Queen's Hussar {GB}) and the latter's MGSW daughter and blue hen Height of Fashion (Fr) (Bustino {GB}).
