No Winner in Sunday’s Rainbow 6 Means Record Carryover Jackpot For Friday Card At Pimlico

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 went unsolved for the 25th consecutive racing day Sunday, boosting the Maryland state record carryover jackpot to $1,351,928.63 when live action returns Friday, July 2.

No horses were live to take down the jackpot entering Sunday's seventh-race finale, won by 4-5 favorite Sam and Sy ($3.20) and Preakness Meet-leading jockey Charlie Marquez. A total of $125,174 was added to Saturday's carryover of $1,311,881.31. Multiple tickets with all six winners paid $223.78.

Last solved for a $23,346.70 payout May 7, the Rainbow 6 jackpot is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 60 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 40 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Introduced in Maryland April 2, 2015 on opening day of Pimlico's spring meet, the Rainbow 6 has far surpassed its previous state record carryover of $345,898.33 spanning 31 racing programs before being solved by one lucky bettor for a life-changing $399,545.94 payout April 15, 2018 at Laurel Park. The winning ticket was purchased through Maine off-track betting.

Friday's Rainbow 6 will span Races 3-8. The sequence opens with a waiver maiden claimer for 2-year-old fillies sprinting five furlongs on the main track, and includes two races scheduled for one mile over the turf course which drew a total of 28 entries.

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be guaranteed at $100,000 for Saturday's program at Gulfstream Park West.

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the third racing day since one lucky ticketholder hit for a $249,204 jackpot Sunday.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Saturday's Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-10, kicked off by a full field of $12,500 claimers in Race 5, slated to be run at five furlongs on turf.

A half-brother to Tapit, North America's premier stallion, is scheduled to make his debut in Race 6, a 6 ½-furlong maiden special weight race for 3-year-olds and up. Kidtapit, a 4-year-old son of Super Saver, is the last registered foal of Tap Your Heels, a daughter of Unbridled. Kidtapit is owned and trained by Steven Dwoskin, who is also scheduled to saddle Follow Q T R, a 3-year-old first-time starter by Honor Code. Moonlander, a debuting son of Malibu Moon trained by Todd Pletcher; is also prominent in the eight-horse field.

Jorge Delgado-trained Just Kidding, who finished third in the $150,000 FSS Wildcat Heir last time out, drops back to optional claiming allowance company in Race 7. A pair of recent claims from the Michael Maker barn are among 13 fillies and mares entered in Race 8, scheduled to be contested at 7 ½ furlongs on turf. Act Like Artie, who beat $25,000 claiming maidens last time out, debuts for trainer Darien Rodriguez, while All About Kathern, a daughter of Bodemeister who was claimed for $12,500, is set to make her first start for owner/trainer Mary Eppler. Amador Sanchez-trained La Rusia is the 7-2 morning-line favorite after finishing second to non-winners-of-two $25,000 claimers last time out.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will be closed out by a six-furlong optional claiming allowance for 2-year-old fillies in Race 9 and a six-furlong sprint for a full field of $6,500 claimers. Maker-trained Artie's Rose, who graduated in her second career start and first dirt race at Gulfstream Park West Oct. 10, is the 5-2 morning-line favorite in Race 9, which attracted three other last-out maiden winners. Colossal Storm, who broke his maiden by 15 ½ lengths at Louisiana Downs for trainer Steve Asmussen, will make his first start for owner/trainer Peter Walder in Race 10.

Rohan Crichton in a Zone with Three-Win Day

Trainer Rohan Crichton remained in a zone at Gulfstream Park West, saddling three winners from as many starters on Friday's program.

Crichton visited the winner's circle with Great Sister Diane ($4) in Race 3, Trisomia ($6.60) in Race 4 and Septemberten ($7.40) in Race 8.

Mandatory Payout: Saturday’s Rainbow 6 At Gulfstream Features $349,328 Carryover

A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 pool is set for Saturday's FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes program at Gulfstream Park.

Four stakes for 2-year-olds, including the $200,000 FSS Affirmed and $200,000 FSS Susan's Girl, will be included in the popular multi-race wager's six-race sequence.

With a carryover of $349,328.25 heading into Saturday's program, the Rainbow 6 pool is expected to swell into the millions. Gulfstream hosts and analysts Ron Nicoletti and Jason Blewitt look at Saturday's sequence and provide handicapping tips.

The Rainbow 6 sent unsolved for the eighth consecutive program Friday, when tickets with all six winners were each worth $388.14.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is usually only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool usually goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. However, on mandatory-payout days, the entire pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

Saturday's Rainbow 6 sequence will span Race 7-12, kicked off by a full field of $6,250 maiden claiming fillies and mares going six furlongs in Race 7, followed by the $75,000 Proud Man, the $200,000 Susan's Girl, the $75,000 Sharp Susan and the $200,000 Affirmed. The Rainbow 6 sequence will conclude with a 1 1/16-mile turf race for $12,500 claimers.

The Proud Man, a mile turf race, will be contested by nine juveniles, including Boca Boy, who finished third in the $100,000 Dr. Fager, the first leg of the Florida Sire Stakes series Aug. 1. The Sharp Susan, a mile turf race for 2-year-old fillies, attracted Spanish Loveaffair, who captured her July 23 debut by 11 lengths for trainer Mark Casse.

Breeze On By, who captured the six-furlong Dr. Fager, returns in the seven-furlong Affirmed, in which the Ralph Nicks trainee will again clash with Dr. Fager runner-up Gatsby.

Go Jo Jo Go, a late-closing winner of the $100,000 FSS Desert Vixen, will headline the seven-furlong Susan's Girl, in which Desert Vixen runner-up Princess Secret will seek revenge on the Michael Yates trainee.

Breeze On By and Go Jo Jo Go are both owned by Gilbert Campbell's Stonehedge LLC, winner of 14 Florida Sire Stakes series races.
