Casa Creed Joins NTRA Top Thoroughbred Poll After Fourstardave Triumph

Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott now has three horses among the 10 comprising the NTRA's Top Thoroughbred Poll, following Casa Creed's win in the Grade 1 Fourstardave at Saratoga and subsequent jump to eighth in Week 29 of the poll.

Stablemates Elite Power and Cody's Wish retain the top two positions. The former took over the top position off the strength of wins in the Riyadh Dirt Sprint, G2 True North, and G1 Vanderbilt, while Cody's Wish dropped to second after his defeat in the G1 Whitney last out.

Last year's champion 3-Year-Old Filly Nest retains third position, having made her 2023 debut a winning one in the G2 Shuvee on July 23 for trainer Todd Pletcher. Fellow Pletcher trainee Up To The Mark sits fifth off two Grade 1 wins on the turf.

G1 Whitney winner White Abarrio is in fourth this week, while Clairiere's two Grade 1 wins in 2023 have her ranked sixth. Forte is the top-ranked 3-year-old in the poll at seventh, following his win in the G2 Jim Dandy last out.

‘Trying To Find A Couple More Lengths’: Asmussen Will Add Blinkers To Disarm For Travers

Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen will add blinkers to the equipment of Disarm for the Grade 1 Travers Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 26, reports the Daily Racing Form.

The 3-year-old son of Asmussen-trained champion Gun Runner wore the blinkers for a breeze over Saratoga's Oklahoma training track on Monday, working five furlongs in 1:00.19.

“Trying to find a couple more lengths,” Asmussen told DRF. “I like how he responded today and I think he's training exceptionally well.”

Disarm will come into the Travers off a fourth-place finish in the G2 Jim Dandy Stakes, in which he was beaten 2 1/4 lengths by champion Forte, also expected to run in the Travers. Prior to that start, Disarm won the G3 Matt Winn at Ellis Park and finished fourth in the G1 Kentucky Derby.
