Racing Staff Week Returns Saturday

Racing Welfare's Racing Staff Week returns for its seventh year this Saturday, June 24, the charity announced on Monday. The industry's annual celebration of people who work in British horseracing brings together the racing business and its followers to recognize the workers inside the industry. Sponsored by Betfair, this year will see five charity races specifically for stable staff, as well as a number of community events and a competitions with prizes of £500 in vouchers awarded to the winners. Races will be held at Ayr, Chepstow, Newbury, Nottingham and Newcastle throughout the week.

“Racing Staff Week is the highlight in our community calendar,” Racing Welfare's Head of Community Engagement Adam Ferguson said. “It provides a brilliant opportunity for everyone in the industry to celebrate the dedication, passion and skill of racing's people, whether that be through supporting our stable staff riders, attending or hosting a community event or entering the thank you competition. We're looking forward to getting started on Saturday and encourage anyone working in racing to get involved if they can.”

Lifetime In Racing Awards Nominations Open

Nominations for Racing Welfare's Lifetime in Racing Awards are now open. Recognising those that have dedicated their life to working in racing, nominees are welcome from any sector of the UK racing industry. There will be four regional winners selected by a judging panel and recognised with a trophy presentation and VIP race day experience during the autumn. The nominating process follows the week-long Racing Staff Week, which was held from June 25-July 1.The two Racing Staff Week charity races at Doncaster and Newton Abbot were won by Michael Vokins aboard Amsby (GB) (Sir Percy {GB}), for the Harry Eustace stable and Imogen Levick riding Uncle Dick (GB) (Toronado {Ire}) for Eve Johnson Houton, respectively.

Racing Welfare Chief Executive, Dawn Goodfellow, said, “It was an absolute delight to see so many organisations across the industry celebrating Racing Staff Week. Congratulations to all the riders in the charity races for an exceptional achievement and for their outstanding fundraising efforts. Racing Staff Week Returns

Racing Staff Week kicks off with the launch of Ascot's Champions Day meeting Saturday. In its fifth year, Racing Staff Week, recognizing the contribution of the industry's workforce, including stud and stable staff, breeders, racecourse staff and administrators, is supported by Betfair through the efforts of Racing Welfare. Racing Welfare will have a presence on all courses that have meetings throughout the week, including 'The Big Racing Staff Week Quiz,' offering staff the opportunity to come together either in person or virtually Oct. 21. Hosted by racing presenters Niall Hannity and Vanessa Ryle, the quiz will give staff across the country to compete for a chance to win £1,000 in high street vouchers. Other events throughout the week include the presentation of four regional Lifetime in Racing awards, and the Betfair Clock Tower Cup at Doncaster, which gives 12 members of stable staff the opportunity to raise funds for Racing Welfare.
