Dandalla To Swerve Morny

Dandalla (Ire) (Dandy Man {Ire}), the six-length winner of the G3 Albany S. at Royal Ascot who followed up in the G2 Duchess of Cambridge S. on July 10, will miss this weekend’s G1 Prix Morny and wait for the G1 Cheveley Park S. on Sept. 26.

“It’s a combination of reasons,” said co-owner Nick Bradley. “The ground isn’t ideal, obviously, and she is actually lighter than she was at Ascot. I think she’s just going through a growing phase. Her work has been very good. It was eye-popping in March/April time. We’re going to be a little bit patient and treat her like a good horse. She’ll come back for the Cheveley Park. That is still the plan.

“We’re treating her with caution. She’s definitely getting there. If we had another week maybe we would have gone.”

Nando Parrado Given Morny Target

Nando Parrado (GB) (Kodiac {GB}), who became the highest-priced winner in Royal Ascot history when winning last week’s G2 Norfolk S. at odds of 150-1, will target the G1 Prix Morny at Deauville on Aug. 23.

“We’re looking towards that. That would be our plans and thoughts at this stage,” said trainer Clive Cox. “It would be a logical step from here.”

Cox said Marie McCartan’s colt didn’t handle Newmarket’s undulations when fifth on debut on June 4, and thus was not surprised by the bay’s improvement in the Norfolk.

“He’s a horse we’ve liked enormously,” the trainer said. “When we got back racing to begin with, the BHA gave us slots that we could achieve a free passage with our intended Ascot runners. The Newmarket maidens that took place to begin with, as you would expect, were jam packed with horses trainers had that intention with. The track at Newmarket did not suit him. It was one of those factors that can happen, and did happen there, but he clearly came back and took a step forward as well.”

The Cox-trained Get It (GB) (Twilight Son {GB}), who stayed on well into fourth in the Listed Windsor Castle S., is set to reappear in the G3 Prix du Bois at ParisLongchamp on July 2.
