Our Secret Agent had been a graded-stakes bridesmaid twice, finishing second in Grade 3 Whimsical and the Grade 3 Seaway, but in the Hendrie Stakes, she graduated to winner, taking the Grade 3 stakes by 3 1/2 lengths at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario.
Breaking from post two, the 4-year-old filly settled into second early in the 6 1/2 furlong stakes, jockey Kazushi Kimura positioning her a length behind early leader Toffen. Around the final turn, Kimura sent Our Secret Agent up to challenge Toffen, taking over the lead as the field of six straightened into the stretch.
In the stretch, Amalfi Coast made her run at Our Secret Agent, but to no avail. The daughter of Secret Circle had more than enough to put distance between her and Amalfi Coast as they approached the wire. The final time for the 6 1/2 furlongs was 1:15.68.
Our Secret Agent paid $4.50, $2.30, and $2.10. Amalfi Coast paid $2.70 and $2.40. La Libertee paid $4.00.
Bred in Kentucky by Paul Tackett Revocable Trust, Our Secret Agent is out of the Holy Bull mare Avalos. Consigned by Paul Tackett, she was a $47,000 RNA at the Fall 2018 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Yearling Sale. Owned by Gary Barber and trained by Mark Casse, the G3 Hendrie is the filly's first win in five starts in 2021, for a lifetime record of three wins in 14 starts and career earnings of $277,364.
