Gimcrack Hero Lake Forest Part Of Tattersalls Autumn HIT Catalogue

The smart G2 Gimcrack S. winner Lake Forest (GB) (No Nay Never) (lot 726) is one of the highlights of the five-day Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale at Park Paddocks in Newmarket from Oct. 23-27.

Part of a 1,750-strong catalogue, the juvenile is rated 109 and will be consigned by William Haggas's Somerville Lodge. He currently holds an entry in the G1 Middle Park S. on Sept. 30.

Some of the other notable lots include G1 Criterium International victor Proud And Regal (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) (lot 674) from Coolmore; a pair of group winners consigned by The Castlebridge Consignment–Audience (GB) (Iffraaj {GB}) (lot 1057) and Lord Massusus (Ire) (Markaz {Ire}) (lot 663); and Juddmonte's G2 Prix Niel third Bravais (GB) (Frankel {GB}) (lot 1076).

In 2022, I'm A Gambler (Ire) (No Nay Never) topped the sale at 850,000gns when sold to Red Baron's Barn & Rancho Temescal prior to becoming stakes-placed in the U.S. From a smaller four-day catalogue, 1,006 horses sold for 36,164,500gns. The average was 35,949gns and the median was 16,000gns.

Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said, “Every year we see horses purchased at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale winning at the highest level, with no less than 83 individual group/listed winners since 2020 bought at the sale including seven Group/Grade 1 winners. That continued success is the key to the sale's enduring appeal and this year's catalogue looks set to cater to both domestic and international demand.”

Group 1 Winners Lezoo And Prosperous Voyage To Be Offered During Sceptre Session At Tattersalls In December

Group 1 winners Lezoo (GB) (Zoustar {Aus}) and Prosperous Voyage (Ire) (Zoffany {Ire}) will be offered at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale on Dec. 4-7. The pair will sell during the Sceptre Session on Tuesday, Dec. 5, for co-owners Marc Chan and Andrew Rosen.

The Cartier European Champion 2-Year-Old Filly in 2022, Lezoo won the G1 Cheveley Park S. over subsequent GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies heroine Meditate (Ire) (No Nay Never) and G1 1000 Guineas victress Mawj (Ire) (Exceed And Excel {Aus}). The Chasemore Farm-bred filly is out of Group 3 winner Roger Sez (Ire) (Red Clubs {Ire}), who has also produced the Group 3-placed winner Navassa Island (Ire) (Territories {Ire}). She was originally a 77,000gns Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 3 yearling, and made €110,000 at the Arqana May Breeze-Up Sale as a juvenile.

A winner of last year's G1 Falmouth S. over Inspiral (GB) (Frankel {GB}), Prosperous Voyage was also second in the 1000 Guineas at three and the G1 Fillies' Mile at two to that foe. Bred by Lynch Bages and Camas Park Stud, the £65,000 Goffs Orby yearling also won the G3 Princess Elizabeth S. and was third in the G2 Duke Of Cambridge S. at Royal Ascot this term. Her dam, the Mizzen Mast mare Seatone, is a winning half-sister to three stakes winners, led by dual Grade I winner Senure (Nureyev).

Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said, “Lezoo and Prosperous Voyage were both outstanding Group 1 winners with their Group 1 wins made even more impressive by the calibre of the fields they defeated. They are both from top class international families and it is an honour to be asked to offer two fillies of this quality at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale on behalf of Marc Chan and Andrew Rosen. There is no doubt that they will be among the highlights of this year's Sceptre Sessions which received international acclaim in their inaugural year.”

Wildcard Entry Midnight Lion Tops Tattersalls Summer Sale

The re-located one-day Tattersalls Summer Sale, held Tuesday at Newmarket's Park Paddocks, saw 77 lots of the 96 offered pass through the ring as sold (80%) for gross receipts of 778,200gns.

Formerly under the now defunct Tattersalls Ascot umbrella, the sale averaged 10,106gns, and the median was 5,000gns.
Horses owned by Rabbah Bloodstock were offered by a variety of agents and filled the top three spots, with wildcard entry Midnight Lion (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}) (lot 79) bringing 85,000gns from Nick Taylor, assistant to Tom Malone Bloodstock, to top the day. The recent Goodwood winner, who was offered by Kingsley Park, will now move on to a jumps career.

“He was clearly the pick of the day for us, and he has been bought for Paul Nicholls,” Taylor said. “We liked him when we saw him, Nathaniel is a big plus to go jumping, he has a lovely soft ground action and is just the type of horse we are looking for. He has the size and Charlie Johnston was very positive about him.”

Stephensen Bloodstock went to 72,000gns to secure the second-highest priced lot of the day, the 3-year-old Laafi (Fr) (Cloth of Stars {Ire}) (lot 74). The winner of the EBF Stallions Golden Horn Maiden S. at Nottingham last year was consigned by Somerville Lodge. She is out of the Smart Strike mare Mediterenea (Fr), who is a half-sister to multiple Group/Grade 1 winner and sire Erupt (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}).

The 4-year-old filly Timeless Melody (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}) (lot 51) rounded out the top three on the day when the hammer fell at 42,000gns for the Leicester novice winner. Matt Coleman of Stroud Coleman Bloodstock signed the ticket for the daughter of Dufay (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}), who came from the Somerville Lodge consignment. The filly's second dam is Group 1 winner White Moonstone (Dynaformer).

“She has been bought for Alec Waugh's Normandy-based Jedburgh Stud,” Coleman said. “Alec has had a lot of luck, as many people have, with mares by Teofilo–he is a phenomenal broodmare sire, and just getting better and better.”
