OTBO Stallion Season Auction Set for Dec. 14-15

The annual Select Stallion Season Auction hosted by the Ohio Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners (OTBO) will be held Thursday, Dec. 14 and Friday, Dec. 15 with previews Dec. 12 and 13. The OTBO has selected a group of stallions from around the country, including major farms in Kentucky and New York, for the auction. A preliminary list of offerings is available at otbo.com with more information and a catalogue to be forthcoming Dec. 12 at 1 a.m. EST at equiring.com/sale/291/OTBO2024. The OTBO also has access to additional seasons for sale.

Ohio Mixed Sale Set For October 15, Sales Stakes Added At Mahoning Valley

The Ohio Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners is pleased to announce that its annual Mixed Sale of Thoroughbred Horses will be held on Oct. 15 at 2:30 p.m. at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Delaware, Ohio. This is the same venue where the sale was hosted last year.

In addition, with the cooperation of Mahoning Valley Race Course, the OTBO is excited to announce an annual graduate race for horses sold through the OTBO sale.

The race will be held the first week of March for 3-year-old Ohio-bred graduates of the Fall Mixed Sale. Next year, the race is open to horses born in 2019. The purse is $25,000 guaranteed, with an estimated value of $50,000.

Small sustaining payments are required, with the first due by Nov. 21, 2021. This applies to all horses foaled in 2019 that went through any OTBO sales in the previous years, including yearlings offered in last year's sale and 2-year-olds offered this year.

OTBO to Hold Stallion Season Auction

The Ohio Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association (OTBO) is hosting their Stallion Season Auction Sale Dec. 7-10. Detailed information and a complete list of stallions offered can be found on Starquine.com and on the OTBO web site.

There are 134 stallions in the auction including Kentucky-based stallions, such as Candy Ride (Arg), Liam’s Map, Union Rags, Tapiture, Take Charge Indy, Midshipman, etc.

“We are excited to offer such incredible depth and value in our sale this year. With the help and support of all the participating farms, we feel we are providing breeders with a tremendous opportunity to produce outstanding foals! Many of the leading sires by earnings from the entire region are represented in our sale, plus multiple up and coming first-crop stallions that are sure to reward breeders with commercial success,” said Mike Annechino, Executive Director of the OTBO.

Also included in this year’s sale is an actual halter worn by GI Kentucky Oaks winner, Serengeti Empress (Alternation).

Preview days are Dec. 7-8. Bidding opens on Dec. 9 and continues until 9 p.m. Dec. 10.

OTBO Mixed Sale to be Held Thursday

The Ohio Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners (OTBO) Association will hold its annual Mixed Thoroughbred Sale this coming Thursday, Oct. 15., with 87 horses entered including weanlings, yearlings, juveniles, broodmares, and older horses. Eleven horses will be offered from the dispersal of the Estate of Gerald Silver, including Mobil Solution (Mobil), a current runner and dual black-type winner whose record stands at 30-9-9-6 with earnings of $523,070.

The OTBO sale will be held at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Delaware, Ohio, at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Previews will be available from 9:00 a.m. on the day of the sale. Every yearling and horse of racing age has been scoped, with those results available, and a licensed veterinarian will be on site.

The complete catalogue can be found online and phone bids will be accepted.
