Nineteen racing yards in Ireland will be opening their doors to the public during a series of open mornings between May and September.
The initiative backed by Horse Racing Ireland Ownership will allow racing fans and those interested in racehorse ownership access to a range of stables across the country, including those of Tracey Collins and Michael Halford on the Curragh, John McConnell, Gordon Elliott and Ross O'Sullivan.
The trainer open mornings are free to attend and follow last year's launch, which saw 17 trainers welcome more than 3,000 visitors. Those interested in attending are asked to register in advance.
“We are looking forward to welcoming owners and racing fans to yards across the country over the coming months,” said HRI Ownership Manager Amber O'Grady. “We were delighted with the success of the 2022 open mornings. The post-event survey saw 78% of visitors saying they were interested in ownership and 56% of trainers signed a new owner off the back of an open morning. It is a wonderful opportunity for trainers to showcase their facilities and horses. It also gives the public a chance to meet trainers in a relaxed environment and get all the information they need before committing to ownership.”
The open mornings will include a tour of the yard and its facilities, and visitors will be able to watch the horses on the gallops as well as meeting the trainers and teams at the yards.
