Dubawi Legend Targets Breeders’ Cup

G1 Dewhurst runner-up Dubawi Legend (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) is being pointed to the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at Del Mar in November. The Dr. Ali Ridha-owned bay has not been off the board in three runs. He won a novice at Doncaster on July 22, and was found to be below his best after a third in the G3 Acomb S. on Aug. 18.

“He's come out of the race great,” said trainer Hugo Palmer. “He ran an absolute blinder. He showed the world what we have always thought of him, that he is a 2-year-old out of the very top drawer. We've been excited about him for a long time and it was great he came and did that. He's a very exciting horse going forward.

“At the moment we are planning as if we are going to Del Mar for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf. He's going to need to be in top order for us to do that but he's come out of the race phenomenally well. He actually put on two kilogrammes for the run. He's a lightly-raced horse and he's had plenty of breaks through the season. The 2000 Guineas is a proper hustle and bustle race. I think the trip to Del Mar will really make him grow up.”

Breeders’ Cup Still Under Consideration For Tarnawa

Last year's GI Breeders' Cup Turf heroine Tarnawa (Ire) (Shamardal) has exited Sunday's G1 Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in good order after running second to Torquator Tasso (Ger) (Adlerflug {Ger}), and her connections are still considering at run at the Breeders' Cup at Del Mar in November. The Dermot Weld trainee opened her campaign with a 6 1/2-length win in the G3 Ballyroan S. at Leopardstown on Aug. 5 and was second to St Mark's Basilica (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}) in the G1 Irish Champion S. there on Sept. 11.

“Tarnawa is tired, but you'd have to be so proud of the effort she has put in,” said Dermot Weld's son and assistant Kris of His Highness The Aga Khan's homebred. “She was in the form of her life, we knew that, and she represented us so well.

“Torquator Tasso's form was very good and was there for all to see. He wasn't running just because it was the Arc, and it was a very good renewal of the race. We'll see how she comes out of the race, and the Breeders' Cup is a distinct possibility, having won it last year. We'll take it one day at a time, and there is no talk about next year yet.”

Breeders’ Cup Possible For Sacred Bridge

Friday's G3 Round Tower S. heroine Sacred Bridge (GB) (Bated Breath {GB}), who races in the colours of breeder Juddmonte, is a possible starter in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, as long as her European campaign concludes in satisfactory fashion, trainer Ger Lyons revealed to the Nick Luck Daily Podcast. The four-for-four bay's next target is the G1 Cheveley Park S. on Sept. 25.

Lyons, who saddled his 1,000th winner on Monday, told the Nick Luck Daily Podcast, “The little filly gave me a 'wow' feeling on Friday–it was her fourth win, but I didn't get a 'wow' off her until Friday. That was a 'wow' performance.

“She literally goes through the motions at home and does what she's done. Every time I've gone to the races I've kept thinking 'is she up to this?', and every time she's produced.

“I love training 2-year-olds, and it's for that reason–you don't know what you're uncovering. It's when they hit the ceiling you go on to the next one, but she's still on the rise.

“Subject to us talking to the [Abdullah] family and everybody being on the same page, that's [Cheveley Park] where you would go with her.”

Sacred Bridge saluted at Naas when unveiled on June 23 and captured Tipperary's Listed Coolmore Ten Sovereigns Tipperary S. just seven days later. A winner of the €300,000 Irish EBF Ballyhane S. on Aug. 2, she was 3 3/4 lengths ahead of her rivals in the Round Tower.

Lyons added, “There's a lot of options open with her, including a trip to the States at the end of the year. If she stays in this form why not, that would have to come into the conversation that we'll be having close to the time.”
