AMERICAN PEACE (c, 2, Tapit–La Cloche, by Ghostzapper) is one of at least four runners by this sire entered this weekend for owner Katsumi Yoshizawa of Master Fencer (Jpn) fame and is the early 1-2 favorite off a strong runner-up effort when trying the dirt for the first time at Chukyo Oct. 4 (video, gate 10). The $325K Keeneland September yearling, a full-brother to GSW Bellevais, is out of a Grade III-winning daughter of MGISW Memories of Silver (Silver Hawk), herself the dam of MGISW Winter Memories (El Prado {Ire}) and granddam of MSW & MGSP ‘TDN Rising Star’ Winter Sunset (Tapit). This is also the female family of ‘Rising Star’ Hawkish (Artie Schiller). Don Alberto Corp. acquired La Cloche for $2.4m in foal to Tapit at Fasig-Tipton November in 2014. The filly’s third dam was responsible for MGSW India (Hennessy), whose MG1SW son Mozu Ascot (Frankel {GB}) was recently retired to stand the 2021 breeding season at Arrow Stud. The colt’s second dam Orate (A.P. Indy) also produced SW & GISP Endless Chatter (First Samurai) and is a full-sister to the late, influential sire Pulpit. MOON BEAD (JPN) (f, 2, American Pharoah–Evening Jewel, by Northern Afleet) overcame a wide trip from the 18 hole to graduate by a half-length going this distance on Niigata debut Oct. 17 (see below) and should enjoy a softer run in this more compact field. Shadai Farm acquired this MGISW dam for $950K at KEENOV in 2016 and the mare foaled a Pioneerof the Nile colt the following spring. She was bred to American Pharoah and was exported before producing this filly in March 2018. Evening Jewel is the dam of a yearling Deep Impact (Jpn) colt and was covered this past season by Duramente (Jpn). B-Shadai Farm

The February foal’s third dam includes GSW Cat’s Career (Mr. Prospector) as well as Cat’s Eye Witness (Elusive Quality), the dam of Scat Daddy’s outstanding young sire son No Nay Never, who was second to the fast-finishing Bobby’s Kitten (Kitten’s Joy) in the 2014 GII Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Santa Anita. The $410K KEESEP yearling remarkably won her first career start July 25 despite drifting all the way to the outside, was given intensive retraining in the meantime, and resumed with an eye-catching five-length allowance success over this course and distance Oct. 25 (see below, gate 6). Victorion, whose female family includes Grade I winners Discreet Cat and Discreetly Mine, was purchased for ¥20 million ($180,400) as a foal at th 2018 JRHA Select Sale and his yearling half-sister by successful young sire Duramente (Jpn) made ¥22 million ($206,785) at the Hokkaido Summer Yearling Sale this past August. Owner Katsumi Yoshizawa, who campaigned Master Fencer (Jpn) (Just A Way {Jpn}) in the 2019 Triple Crown, also races SP American Seed (Tapit), who aired by seven lengths in his first start on dirt last weekend. NIGHT FROLIC (c, 2, Into Mischief-Frolic’s Revenge, by Vindication) is out of a five-time stakes winner that has already been responsible for SW American Frolic (Blame) and SP Mc Awesome (Super Saver). The April foal’s MSW second dam Stormy Frolic (Summer Squall) was a daughter of GSW Lindsay Frolic (Mt. Livermore), whose 10 winners from 12 to race included GSW/MGISP Super Frolic (Pine Bluff).
