WORLDS COLLIDE (c, 3, War Front–Elizabeth Browning {Ire}, by Galileo {Ire}) was bet into 8-5 favoritism for his six-furlong debut at Nakayama Apr. 8 and got the job done by three-parts of a length (see below, SC 13). A $400,000 purchase out of the 2020 Keeneland November Sale, the bay is out of an Irish Group 2-winning full-sister to G1SW Johannes Vermeer (Ire), SW Sapa Inca (Ire), MG1SP Wembley (Ire) and SP Covent Garden (Ire). AIR GRIFFON (c, 3, Air Force Blue–Yuzuru, by Medaglia d'Oro) is the third foal to race out of his dam, a stakes winner for these breeders and trainer Michael Matz, who is also responsible for Yuugiri (Shackleford), last year's GIII Fantasy S. victress and successful in this year's Carousel S. at Oaklawn Park. Yuzuru is a half-sister to Nokaze (Empire Maker), herself the dam of Japanese Group 2 winner Air Almas (Majestic Warrior) and of Air Fanditha (Hat Trick {Jpn}), who doubled his Japanese stakes tally in listed company just last weekend. Elizabeth Browning, who topped the 2017 Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale on a bid of 700,000gns from Alex Elliott, agent, is also a sister to the listed-winning Sapa Inca (Ire), G1 National S. runner-up Wembley (Ire) and Group 2-placed Petite Mustique (Ire). Worlds Collide was the most expensive of seven purchases by Paca Paca Farm at the 2020 Keeneland November Sale, hammering for $400,000. The second-priciest of those acquisitions, the $250,000 Freewheeling (War Front) offered less than 25 hips later, broke his maiden at second asking in Japan last weekend. The colt's multiple Grade II-placed dam is a daughter of the stakes-winning Merry Me In Spring (Wekiva Springs), whose son So Brilliant (Medaglia d'Oro) won the GIII Hollywood Prevue S. in 2011. Godolphin's Japanese arm also purchased the only other War Front weanling offered in 2020, going to $400,000 for a colt out of Irish Group 2 winner Elizabeth Browning (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). ERIKA BONITA (f, 3, Justify–Caledonia Road, by Quality Road) is the first foal out of her dam, whose upset victory in the 2017 GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies propelled her to Eclipse Awards honors that season. Purchased by Narvick International, agent, for $2.3 million at the 2018 Fasig-Tipton November Sale, Caledonia Road–a half-sister to MGSW Officiating (Blame) and SW One of a Kind (Lemon Drop Kid)–was bred to this Triple Crown winner on an early cover and foaled this filly in Kentucky on Jan. 20, 2020. Put back in foal to Justify soon after, she was exported to Japan and the colt that she produced Jan. 27, 2021 fetched ¥135 million ($1,223,338) at the JHRA Select Sales less than six months later. The current yearling out of Caledonia Road sold for $800,000 at the same event last July. B-Grand Stud (KY)
