Not This Time Heads Taylor Made 2022 Stallion Roster

Leading Second-Crop Sire Not This Time (Giant's Causeway-Miss Macy Sue, by Trippi) tops Taylor Made Stallions roster for 2022 with a fee of $45,000 S&N. Also joining Taylor Made for the 2022 season is four-time Grade I winner Knicks Go (Paynter–Kosmo's Buddy, by Outflanker), likely favorite for the Nov. 6 GI Breeders' Cup Classic at Del Mar. A stud fee for Knicks Go, winner of the 2018 GI Breeders' Futurity in addition to this season's GI Pegasus World Cup Invitational GI Whitney S., will be announced following the Breeders' Cup.

Currently, Not This Time leads all second-crop sires with 14 black-type horses, 10 black-type winners, two graded stakes winners, and heads his division this year with progeny earnings of $4,006,812.

Additionally, he is the leading sire by percentage of stakes winners in North America at nine percent in 2021; is the third-ranked leading sire of sophomore stakes winners in 2021, and the fourth-ranked leading sire of juvenile stakes winners this year. In his first crop, he was represented by Grade I winner Princess Noor when leading all freshman stallions with 29 winners and three black-type winners. His top performers this year include graded stakes winners Easy Time and Yes This Time.

Also highlighting Taylor Made's 2022 roster are Instagrand (Into Mischief–Assets of War, by Lawyer Ron) and Instilled Regard (Arch–Enhancing, by Forestry), both standing their second seasons at stud for $7,500 S&N.

A $1.2 million Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream sale purchase, Instagrand was named a TDN Rising Star following his impressive debut at Los Alamitos before annexing the GII Best Pal S. by 10 ¾ lengths at Del Mar in just his second lifetime start.

Instilled Regard, a $1,050,000 OBS March Sale graduate, a four-time graded winner on dirt and turf recorded his most important career score in the GI Manhattan S. He hails from a prolific family–his second dam is champion mare Heavenly Prize, the dam of Pure Prize.

Also standing for $7,500 S&N, GI Shoemaker Mile winner Midnight Storm (Pioneerof the Nile-My Tina, by Bertrando) and Mshawish (Medaglia d'Oro–Thunder Bayou, by Thunder Gulch), a Grade I winner on the dirt and turf. The latter will stand the upcoming breeding season for $5,000 S&N.

In 2021, Mshawish has seven stakes horses (9.1%) and is the co-leading Second-Crop Sire of graded stakes winners this year along with Not This Time.

Not This Time, Knicks Go Lead Taylor Made Stallions’ 2022 Roster

Taylor Made Stallions has set its 2022 stallion roster and fees for the upcoming breeding season, headed by number one-ranked second-crop sire Not This Time who will stand for $45,000 S&N.

Taylor Made will further bolster its roster in 2022 with the arrival of four-time Grade 1 winner and top-ranked horse on the NTRA Thoroughbred Poll Knicks Go, the likely favorite in the $6-million Breeders' Cup Classic on Nov. 6 at Del Mar.

A stud fee for Knicks Go, who won the 2018 Grade 1 Breeders' Futurity at two and this year captured the G1 Pegasus World Cup Invitational and the historic G1 Whitney Stakes at age five, will be announced after the Breeders' Cup. An earner of $5,553,135 thus far in a spectacular racing career, Knicks Go is a Grade 1 winner from eight to nine furlongs and has run triple-digit Beyer Speed Figures of 113, 111, 108 (twice), 107, and 104, all in top company.

Not This Time, a son of Giant's Causeway, is blazing a trail on the leading sire ranks. He boasts a crop-best 14 black-type horses, 10 black-type winners, two Graded stakes winners, and tops all second-crop sires this year with progeny earnings of $4,006,812, dominating his crop in nearly every major statistical category. In addition, he is the No.1-ranked sire by percentage of stakes winners in North America at nine percent in 2021; is the third-ranked leading sire of 3-year-old stakes winners in 2021, and the fourth-ranked leading sire of 2-year-old stakes winners this year.

Historically speaking, Not This Time, when compared to the industry's top tier of current stallions from their initial two crops to race, tracks extremely favorably to an elite group of stallions that includes the likes of Into Mischief, Uncle Mo, Munnings, War Front, and Tapit.

Even with the smashing early success, the future looks even brighter for Not This Time. His CI (Comparative Index-quality of mares bred) for 2021 was an exceptional 3.11. According to BloodHorse's MarketWatch, in 2019 and 2020, only 10 stallions in North America had a higher CI than Not This Time's 2021 book, and of those, all but one will stand for six figures in the upcoming breeding season.

Represented last year by the brilliant Grade 1 winner Princess Noor in his initial crop, Not This Time, the leading freshman sire of 2020 by number of winners (29) and black-type winners (3), has enjoyed another sensational season in 2021. His top performers this year include graded stakes winners Easy Time, winner of the $120,574 G3 Marine Stakes at Woodbine and runner-up in the $600,000 G2 Franklin-Simpson Stakes at Kentucky Downs, and Yes This Time, winner of the $150,000 G3 Kent Stakes at Delaware Park and the English Channel Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

Instagrand and Instilled Regard will stand their second seasons at stud for $7,500 S&N.

Instagrand, a dominating son of Into Mischief and a precocious $1.2-million Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale purchase, led gate to wire in winning the G2 Best Pal Stakes by 10 3/4 lengths at Del Mar in just his second lifetime start. Undefeated at two, he was named a TDN Rising Star after winning his maiden special weight debut by 10 lengths, clocking five furlongs in :56 flat, just .32 of a second off the Los Alamitos track record. He also placed in the G3 Gotham Stakes and the G1 Santa Anita Derby at three.

Instilled Regard, a royally-bred Grade 1 winner by champion sire Arch and a $1,050,000 OBS March Sale graduate, proved a determined winner of the $400,000 G1 Manhattan Stakes, defeating six graded stakes winners, including Grade 1 winners Sadler's Joy and Channel Maker. A four-time graded stakes winner on dirt and turf, Instilled Regard banked $983,240 in a stellar career. He hails from a prolific family—his second dam is champion mare Heavenly Prize, the dam of Pure Prize.

Standing for $7,500 S&N, Midnight Storm, a brilliantly fast Grade 1-winning son of Pioneerof the Nile, saw his first runners hit the track in 2021. Numbered among his impressive winners are Great Escape, who captured a $120,000 maiden special weight at Churchill Downs in September, Easy Come Easy Go, a maiden special weight winner at Gulfstream Park last month, and Electrostatic, a debut maiden special weight winner at Colonial Downs. After being represented in 2021 by first yearlings up to $200,000 in the sales ring, Midnight Storm saw first 2-year-olds in training sell for up to $550,000 this year.

Mshawish, Medaglia d'Oro's only Grade 1 winner on dirt and turf and his fastest dirt miler, will stand the upcoming breeding season for $5,000 S&N. Mshawish is represented this year by stakes winners around the world, including 3-year-old Bellharbour Music, winner of the G3 Prix Daphnis at Deauville in France, and Sainthood, winner of the $200,000 G3 Pennine Ridge Stakes at Belmont Park and second in the G3 Jeff Ruby Steaks at Turfway Park.

In 2021, Mshawish has seven stakes horses (9.1 percent) and is the co-leading second-crop sire of graded stakes winners this year along with Not This Time.

Last Leaf Victorious In Hollywood Beach, Pro Quality Best In Wildcat Heir At Gulfstream

Trainer Ron Spatz admits he didn't know how Monarch Stables Inc's 2-year-old filly Last Leaf would handle the turf in Saturday's $75,000 Hollywood Beach Stakes at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla.

“My legs are tired. I've been doing a rain dance for three days,” said Spatz, whose filly won twice on the main track before facing colts and geldings in the Hollywood Beach. “They tell me top and bottom is good for [turf], but she has small feet so I really didn't know.”

Any doubts Spatz might have had were erased when Last Leaf drove past a game Nerve in the final sixteenth to win the Hollywood Beach by a head. Barone Cesco was a fast-closing third, another head behind Nerve.

A daughter of Not This Time who has now won three of five starts, Last Leaf covered a 'good' five-furlong course in :57.46 after chasing Nerve past fractions of :22.32 and :45.40. The filly has won at 5 ½ furlongs on a fast track, six furlongs on a sloppy track, and on the turf.

“I told [Monarch Stables Inc.] 'You have an all-terrain vehicle now. That's a good thing,” Spatz said.

In the $125,000 Wildcat Heir, Rodney Lundock's Pro Quality, a 4-year-old gelding trained by Ralph Catanese and ridden by Luca Panici, drove past Shivaree inside the final sixteenth pole to win by lengths

Pro Quality, a son of Exclusive Quality, came into the Wildcat Heir off third-place finishes in the City of Dania and Benny The Bull. Panici raced fourth down the backstretch past fractions of :23.91 and :46.91 before Panici moved Pro Quality three-wide entering the stretch and driving to the finish.

Pro Quality has won four races and has placed first, second or third in 11 of his 13 starts.

Yes This Time Quickens Best in Kent

Heavily favored to score a fifth consecutive victory and his sixth from eight starts overall, Edge Racing's Yes This Time (Not This Time) had some work to turning into the stretch of Saturday's GIII Kent S. over rain-affected turf at Delaware Park, but he rallied through an opening at the rail and outfinished pacesetting Like the King (Palace Malice) for an ultimately comfortable success.

Allowed to amble along as the pacesetter had things very much his own way on the engine, Yes This Time was shuffled back to last and was off the bridle for a stride or two with about three furlongs to race. Busily ridden by Joe Bravo approaching the quarter pole, the chestnut showed a quick turn of foot, confronted the GIII Jeff Ruby Steaks winner to his inside with a bit less than an eighth of a mile

Claimed for $30,000 from his breeder and trainer Mike Stidham out of a victorious effort when trying the grass for the first time at the Fair Grounds Dec. 5, Yes This Time was fourth in a starter/optional event at Gulfstream Jan. 21 before scooping similar events Feb. 20 and Mar. 20. A 2 1/2-length winner when facing allowance/optional rivals in Hallandale Apr. 11, he overcame a very wide trip and rallied from last to earn his first black-type success in the May 8 English Channel S. at the South Florida oval.

Yes This Time becomes the second graded winner for Taylor Made's Not This Time and is simultaneously the 50th graded winner produced by a daughter of the outstanding Smart Strike. The colt's second dam made a name for herself on the Midlantic circuit, winning four black-type events at Delaware Park, including the grassy Beautiful Day S. As a broodmare, Shad was responsible for Strike A Deal (Smart Strike), a two-time graded winner on turf, as well as Pacific Wind (Curlin), victorious in the GII Ruffian S. and third in the GI Juddmonte Spinster S. on the main, while earning graded placings in the GII Honeymoon S. and GIII Senorita S. on the grass. The unraced Smart Jilly is the dam of a 2-year-old colt by Street Sense and a yearling filly by Blame.
