5th-NII, ¥13,400,000 ($99k), Newcomers, 2yo, 1600mT
WINE WINE RED (c, 2, Justify–Streaming, by Smart Strike), a half-brother to SP Soaring (Tapit), cost owner Susumu Fujita $650,000 at last year's Keeneland September and the early April foal gets the endorsement of leading rider Yuichi Fukunaga for the debut. The chestnut is the fourth foal to the races for his dam, winner of the 2013 GI Hollywood Starlet S., whose stakes-winning full-sister Treasuring is the dam of Sweet as Pie (Tapit), third in the Leslie's Lady Overnight S. in June. Streaming is also a half-sister to SW Cascading (A.P. Indy) and to the dam of MGSW and $3.65-million juvenile Cezanne (Curlin). The colt's third dam is $14-million mare Better Than Honour (Deputy Minister), herself responsible for a pair of GI Belmont S. winners and the granddam of MGSW Greatest Honour (Tapit). A Justify colt out of Streaming's daughter Shadowing (Tapit) is cataloged as hip 70 at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Monday evening. B-Hill 'n' Dale Equine Holdings & Stretch Run Ventures LLC (KY)

ESPERANZA FLAG (f, 2, Point of Entry–Place of Honor, by First Samurai) is a full-sister to the dual stakes-placed Hierarchy and was purchased in utero for $70,000 at the 2019 Keeneland November Sale. The filly's second dam is the outstanding My Flag (Easy Goer), whose daughter Storm Flag Flying (Storm Cat) won the 2002 GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies en route to champion 2-year-old filly honors. This is also the family of dual-surface GSW Parading (Pulpit) as well as SW & GISP Miles D (Curlin). This sire's eight winners from nine to race in Japan includes MGSW/G1SP Lotus Land. B-Crown Farm USA (KY)

6th-NII, ¥13,400,000 ($99k), Newcomers, 2yo, 1800m
ELEGANT MAIDEN (f, 2, American Pharoah–Sunshine for Life, by Giant's Causeway) is the latest foal of racing age from his Grade III-winning dam, a half-sister to GSW Tubrok (Rahy) and to the dam of Big Trouble (Tiz Wonderful), winner at two of the GIII Sanford S. Elegant Maiden, a $110,000 KEESEP yearling, looks to become the 26th Japanese winner from 31 starters for American Pharoah. She is joined in the field by fellow U.S.-bred filly Modernize Queen (Distorted Humor), purchased for $180,000 at KEESEP last fall and a maternal granddaughter of G1 Chilean Derby heroine and U.S. GISW Noches de Rosa (Chi) (Stagecraft {GB}). American Pharoah Colt Tries The Turf in Japan

In this continuing series, we take a look ahead at US-bred and/or conceived runners entered for the upcoming weekend at the tracks on the Japan Racing Association circuit, with a focus on pedigree and/or performance in the sales ring. Here are the horses of interest for this Saturday running at Niigata Racecourse, featuring the offspring of a couple of Coolmore sires, one looking to build on a promising debut and the other looking for a second straight victory. Sunday's TDN will include four US-breds making their respective first trips to the races:

1st-NII, ¥9,900,000 ($74k), Maiden, 2yo, 2000mT
PSY BREAKER (c, 2, Uncle Mo–Downside Scenario, by Scat Daddy), a $400,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase, gave an excellent account of himself going this distance at Fukushima July 10, running on gamely to be beaten a half-length into second. The Mar. 30 foal is a half-brother to 'TDN Rising Star' Mutasaabeq (Into Mischief), and his dam–who was acquired for $250,000 carrying the colt that would become Mutasaabeq at Keeneland January in 2018–was resold to Stonestreet for $1.15 million back in foal to Into Mischief at Keeneland November last fall. Downside Scenario is a half-sister to Cool Cowboy (Kodiak Kowboy), twice a Group 3-winning sprinter in Dubai. B-BlackRidge Stables LLC (KY)

9th-NII, ¥30,400,000 ($229k), Allowance, 2yo, 1400mT
ADVANCE PHAROAH (c, 2, American Pharoah–Fair Huntress, by Tiznow) debuted with a sound runner-up effort going 1400 meters over the dirt at Tokyo June 19, but shortened up to graduate nicely over 1150 meters at Fukushima last time July 17 (see below, SC 10). The $140,000 KEESEP yearling has the pedigree to take to this new surface, as his unraced dam is a half-sister to Grade III winner Devil By Design (Medaglia d'Oro), who produced GI American Oaks heroine Competitionofideas (Speightstown); and turf stakes winner Kolo (Dynaformer). As promised, a second installment this weekend featuring the horses of interest for this weekend running at Niigata and Tokyo Racecourses. Click for a preview of Sunday's G1 Tenno Sho, featuring the produce of American-sourced mares Rhodochrosite (Unbridled's Song), Tapitsfly (Tapit) and Ginger Punch (Awesome Again), among others:

2nd-TOK, ¥9,680,000 ($85k), Maiden, 2yo, 1600mT
WORLD CONNECTOR (c, 2, Connect–Wild Hoots, by Unbridled's Song) was made the 8-5 favorite for a 1600-meter newcomers' event over the local dirt track on debut Oct. 9, but sat a three-wide trip from a high draw and settled for a clear second (see below, SC 16). The half-brother to SW & GISP Savings Account (Medaglia d'Oro), whose dam is a full-sister to GISW Buddha, switches to the turf for this second go and has the services of Christophe Lemaire. The most expensive of 29 of his first-crop sire (by Curlin)'s weanlings to sell in 2019 when hammering for $250K at Keeneland November, World Connector was bought back for $285K at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga last summer, but fetched $410K at this year's FTFMAR sale. B-Dell Ridge Farm LLC (KY)

3rd-NII, ¥14,360,000 ($126k), Allowance, 3yo/up, 1800m
COSMIC MIND (c, 3, Into Mischief–Mystical Star, by Ghostzapper) turned in a remarkable performance on Nakayama debut Jan. 17, overcoming a world of trouble to score narrowly. Though off the board in three subsequent starts, he wasn't beaten far and makes his first start since April in this spot. A $280K KEESEP acquisition, the late April foal is out of a versatile dam who was a Grade II winner and Grade I-placed on the grass and runner-up in an all-weather renewal of the GI Juddmonte Spinster S. in 2012. Jasper Krone is the first produce for his stakes-placed dam, a $10K purchase by Machmer Hall out of the 2018 Fasig-Tipton Winter Mixed sale. B-Machmer Hall & Godolphin (KY)
