Without Parole Fee Set At £10,000

G1 St James’s Palace S. winner Without Parole (GB) (Frankel {GB}-Without You Babe, by Lemon Drop Kid) will stand for £10,000 during his debut season at Newsells Park Stud in 2021. He enters stud alongside Nathaniel (Ire), the sire of the great Enable (GB) as well as G1 Prix de Diane winner Channel (Ire) and G1 Premio Lydia Tesio scorer God Given (GB). Nathaniel will stand for £15,000 next year, down from £25,000 the last two seasons.

Newsells Park Stud’s General Manager Julian Dollar said, “Nathaniel’s progeny have enjoyed another strong year with a further four group winners in 2020, led by Enable who made history this summer with a record third win in the G1 King George [VI and Queen Elizabeth S.]. With 10 group/stakes winners and performers this year and an ever-expanding list of group winners, Nathaniel offers breeders incredible value at £15,000 for this multiple Classic-producing sire.”

“We are also extremely excited to be standing Without Parole,” Gunther added. “He’s a horse that’s close to our hearts, having been foaled and raised at Newsells Park on behalf of John and Tanya Gunther. A beautifully bred son of Frankel with the looks to match, Without Parole has a pedigree rich in speed and as an out-and-out miler himself, who took his unbeaten run through an emphatic win in the St James’s Palace S. in the second-fastest time ever recorded, he should hold great appeal for breeders at just £10,000. Both the Gunthers and ourselves will be supporting Without Parole heavily with quality mares and we also hope to make a number of breeding rights available to breeders.”

Equiano To Join Irish National Stud

Dual Royal Ascot-winning sprinter Equiano (Fr) will move from Britain to stand at the Irish National Stud in 2021.

The 15-year-old son of Acclamation (GB) has spent 10 seasons at Newsells Park Stud, during which time he has sired treble Group 1 winner The Tin Man (GB) and GI Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint victrix Belvoir Bay (GB) among 17 stakes winners.

Irish National Stud CEO Cathal Beale said, “We are delighted to offer Equiano to the Irish market at a time when solid, proven speed influences are ever more valued by breeders. He is an imposing individual with a great walk and, being completely free of Sadler’s Wells and Danzig blood, he is a great outcross option. Standing alongside Invincible Spirit, Equiano’s addition to our roster will mean we can offer Irish breeders two of the most prolific sources of speed available in Europe.”

Equiano started his racing career in Spain under the care of Mauricio Delcher Sanchez and soon progressed to group company in France before beating Takeover Target (Aus) in the G1 King’s Stand S. during his 3-year-old season. Switched to Britain and the stable of Barry Hills following his Royal Ascot success, he won a further three races in England as a 5-year-old, including a second King’s Stand. He was also runner-up in the G1 July Cup by a neck to Starspangledbanner (Aus). Through four seasons of racing he won seven of his 27 starts.

No fee has yet been set for Equiano, who stood at £6,000 for his last two seasons in Britain.

Without Parole Retired To Newsells Park Stud In England For 2021

Without Parole, winner of the Group 1 St James's Palace Stakes, has been retired and will return to the U.K. to commence stud duties at Newsells Park Stud for the 2021 season, it has been announced.

Bred by John and Tanya Gunther, the son of Frankel was unbeaten in his first four starts culminating in his impressive victory at Royal Ascot, where he justified favoritism to beat the likes of Gustav Klimt and Irish 2000 Guineas winner, Romanised. His winning time that day was the second fastest ever recorded at Ascot, faster than Kingman and Without Parole's own sire Frankel. A subsequent switch to Chad Brown in the U.S., saw Without Parole consistently perform at the very highest level over a mile with placings in the Breeders' Cup Mile, Shadwell Turf Mile and Shoemaker Mile.

Commenting on his retirement to Newsells Park Stud, general manager Julian Dollar said, “We're delighted to be standing Without Parole at Newsells Park. It's no secret that we, like virtually every other global stallion operation, chased this horse hard after his impressive win at Royal Ascot and its fitting he should now retire to the Stud where he was born and raised. Without Parole is a beautiful horse with an athletic physique and superb conformation. As his race record states, he's an out and out miler who possesses a great turn of foot. Importantly, he has a potent, proven sire's pedigree which should offer breeders plenty of options. He'll certainly be heavily supported by Newsells Park and of course his Eclipse-award winning breeders, John and Tanya Gunther.”

Commenting on his retirement to stud, John Gunther said: “Without Parole has given me the most memorable and exciting day of my life with his victory in the St. James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. It was my biggest dream come true and I continue to be overwhelmed by the heart and perseverance he has shown with his racing pursuits in America. He has raced in 12 consecutive Grade 1s and faced myriad traffic obstructions, at times unsuitable turf conditions and he just never gives up, as demonstrated again by his third place finish in the prestigious Shadwell Turf Mile. I love this horse and can't wait to breed to him.”

Commenting on Without Parole, John Gosden said: “He was a very sound and tough colt and an incredibly good natured horse to train. He won the St James's Palace in courageous style off a strong pace and he showed great speed in the Breeders' Cup Mile.”

Commenting on Without Parole, Chad Brown said: “When Without Parole came to me last year, he immediately showed himself to be a class horse with tremendous ability. I thought so highly of him that I paired him up with Bricks and Mortar, who of course went on to win the Breeders' Cup Turf and be awarded Horse of The Year honors. Without Parole ran huge in the 2019 Breeders' Cup Mile to be third off of a six month lay-off and it has been hugely frustrating that he hasn't added another Group 1 to his resume. He has run some incredibly good races again this year, just not had the necessary racing luck.”
