5.35 Navan, Mdn, €12,000, 3yo/up, c/g, 8fT
BALLSBRIDGE (Lord Kanaloa {Jpn}) is the first foal out of the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere and G1 Moyglare Stud S. heroine Happily (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), the sister to Gleneagles (Ire), Marvellous (Ire) and Joan Of Arc (Ire) from the Giant's Causeway dynasty. One of two Ballydoyle newcomers set for this test, the bay who was described by his trainer as a “little bit laidback” on Monday unsurprisingly sports blinkers and is the pick of Ryan Moore over Drumroll (Ire) (Deep Impact {Jpn}), a full-brother to Saxon Warrior (Jpn). Among the other first-time starters is Moyglare Stud's Time Tells All (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}), a half-brother to last year's Irish 1000 Guineas-winning sensation Homeless Songs (Ire) (Frankel {GB}).

Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Wednesday's Observations features a 'TDN Rising Star'.

12.20 Chantilly, Cond, €34,000, 2yo, c/g, 9fT
PADISHAKH (FR) (Wootton Bassett {GB}) earned TDN Rising Star status on debut when beating the subsequent winner Halfway Line (GB) (Zoffany {Ire}) at ParisLongchamp at the start of last month. Jean-Claude Rouget keeps Nurlan Bizakov's bay out of black-type company for now, with Ecurie Jean-Louis Bouchard's Deauville winner King Of Records (Fr) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) from the Fabrice Chappet stable a key opponent.

3.35 Navan, Mdn, €12,000, 2yo, 8fT
LONDONER (IRE) (Saxon Warrior {Jpn}) is one of two Ballydoyle representatives in this and is a €270,000 Goffs Orby graduate whose dam is the G1 Prix de l'Abbaye heroine Gilt Edge Girl (GB) (Monsieur Bond {Ire}). The April-foaled chestnut meets Newtown Anner Stud Farm Ltd's fellow newcomer Mr King (Ire) (Kingman {GB}), a Ger Lyons-trained half-brother to the G3 Munster Oaks winner and G1 Pretty Polly S. third Thunder Kiss (Ire) (Night Of Thunder {Ire}).

Half to Tenebrism Starts at Navan

Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Saturday's Observations features a half-sister to Group 1 winner Tenebrism (Caravaggio).

1.05 Navan, Mdn, €16,000, 2yo, f, 5f 162yT
STATUETTE (Justify) is the fifth foal out of the G1 Coronation S. and G1 Prix Jacques le Marois heroine Immortal Verse (Ire) (Pivotal {GB}), making her a half-sister to last year's G1 Cheveley Park S. winner Tenebrism (Caravaggio). Coolmore, Westerberg and Merriebelle Stables' March-foaled chestnut is joined by fellow Ballydoyle trainee Unless (Justify), another by the Triple Crown winner and the first foal out of another Cheveley Park heroine in Clemmie (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). They will have to be smart to deal with Amo Coutinho Partnership's Curragh runner-up Olivia Maralda (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}), the Michael O'Callaghan trainee who at 460,000gns was the second-highest-priced lot and top-priced filly at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale.

1.40 Navan, Mdn, €16,500, 2yo, 5fT
AGE OF KINGS (IRE) (Kingman {GB}), the 1.1-million gns Book 1 graduate who went down by a whisker on debut at Naas earlier this month, appears to have things easier in this maiden won three years ago by the G2 July S.-winning sire Royal Lytham (Fr) (Gleneagles {Ire}). Like him, Westerberg, Magnier, Tabor, Smith and Brant's son of the G2 May Hill S. winner Turret Rocks (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) bears the Ballydoyle standard and after such a promising debut it is anybody's guess what he can achieve.

3.35 Newmarket, Novice, £10,000, 2yo, f, 6fT
DISTINGUISHED LADY (FR) (Zoustar {Aus}) is another Amo Racing notable as a 400,000gns Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up graduate entrusted to the capable hands of Richard Hannon and her early education will put her in good stead against a trio of future projects from Godolphin including Mawj (Ire) (Exceed and Excel {Aus}), a half-sister to last year's GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf hero Modern Games (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}).

3.55 Newbury, Cond, £20,000, 2yo, 6fT
PERSIAN FORCE (IRE) (Mehmas {Ire}) currently occupies favouritism in the ante-post market for Royal Ascot's G2 Coventry S., having blown away his rivals in Doncaster's Brocklesby in March.
