Lady Mystify Gets First Graded Stakes Win In Remington Park Oaks

Lady Mystify made the trip from California to Oklahoma a winning one with a pace-stalking performance in the Grade 3 Remington Park Oaks at the Oklahoma City, Okla., track.

In her only previous try at graded stakes company, Lady Mystify, trained by Peter Eurton, was fifth in the Grade 3 Torrey Pines at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in Del Mar, Calif. in late August. In the G3 Oaks, facing a field that included G3 Fantasy Stakes winner Pauline's Pearl and Cathryn Sophia Stakes winner Lovely Ride, Lady Mystify broke cleanly, jockey Flavien Prat putting her third behind front-runner My Girl Red early in the 1 1/16-mile stakes.

Around the far turn, Prat pulled his filly even with My Girl Red as Ricardo Santana, Jr. moved Pauline's Pearl on the outside of horses to start her bid in the stretch. At the top of the lane, Lady Mystify took over the lead as Pauline's Pearl tried to challenge on her outside. The Eurton trainee was too much for Pauline's Pearl, drawing away to win by three lengths. Amendment Nineteen was third and Bobbin Tail fourth.

Lady Mystify paid $14.00, $5.00, and $2.80. Pauline's Pearl paid $2.80 and $2.10. Amendment Nineteen paid $2.10.

Bred in Kentucky by Scott Dilworth and Evan Dilworth, Lady Mystify is by Bernardini out of the Unbridled's Song mare J. Quirk. She is a 3-year-old filly owned by Exline-Border Racing LLC, SAF Racing, and Richard Hausman. Lady Mystify was purchased by Exline-Border Racing from consigner Niall Brennan Stables for $325,000 at the 2020 Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. With her win in the G3 Remington Park Oaks, Lady Mystify has three wins in five starts in 2021, for a lifetime record of 6-3-1-1 and career earnings of $217,520.

Pauline’s Pearl Headlines Remington Park Oaks Field

Pauline's Pearl, winner of the $600,000 Grade 3 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park in April, has been made the morning-line favorite at 5-2 odds for the $200,000 Grade 3 Remington Park Oaks. The Oaks is the top supporting stakes on the Oklahoma Derby Day undercard at Remington Park in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Trained by Asmussen, Ricardo Santana will ride Pauline's Pearl. She finished eighth in the $1,250,000 Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks following her Fantasy score. Most recently she was second in the $400,000 Grade 3 Charles Town Oaks on Aug. 27.

The Remington Park Oaks will go as the eighth race on Sept. 26 at 6:33 pm. Here is the lineup for the Oaks by post position and program order, with trainer, jockey, and morning-line odds:

The big Oklahoma Derby Day program begins at 3 pm on Sept. 26. Remington Park racing goes with its longest week of the season, Wednesday through Sunday, Sept. 22-26. The nightly post time is 7:07 pm, prior to the special Derby day card. All times are Central.

Opening Day: Fire At Will, My Girl Red Headline Friday Stakes At Keeneland

Three Diamonds Farm's Fire At Will, winner of last fall's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) here at Keeneland, will face five rivals in Friday's 33rd running of the $150,000 Kentucky Utilities Transylvania (G3) for 3-year-olds going 1 1/16 miles on the turf.

The Transylvania will go as the ninth race with a 5:30 p.m. post time.

Trained by Mike Maker, who saddled Field Pass to a victory in the 2020 Transylvania, Fire At Will returns to the turf after finishing eighth in the Fountain of Youth (G2) on dirt in his most recent start. Tyler Gaffalione has the mount and will break from post position four.

Top threats to Fire At Will could come from Bantry Farms' Barrister Tom, winner of the More Than Ready Juvenile at Kentucky Downs last fall, and Stuart Janney III's Scarlett Sky, runner-up in the Palm Beach (L) at Gulfstream Park in his most recent start.

Trained by Michael Ewing, Barrister Tom will be making his 2021 debut and break from post five under Drayden Van Dyke.

Joel Rosario has the mount on Scarlett Sky and will break from post one for trainer Shug McGaughey, who won the 2011 Transylvania with Air Support.

The field for the Transylvania, with riders and weights from the inside, is: Scarlett Sky (Rosario, 118 pounds), Palazzi (Chris Landeros, 120), Breadman (Luis Saez, 118), Fire At Will (Gaffalione, 123), Barrister Tom (Van Dyke, 120) and Earls Rock (IRE) (Florent Geroux, 120).

Erich Brehm's My Girl Red, stylish winner of last summer's Sorrento (G2) at Del Mar, headlines a field of seven 3-year-old fillies entered Monday for Friday's 36th running of the $150,000 Beaumont (G3) Presented by Keeneland Select.

Run over the Beard Course of 7 furlongs, 184 feet, the Beaumont offers 17 points toward the $1.25 million Kentucky Oaks (G1) on a 10-4-2-1 scale to the first- through fourth-place finishers.

The Beaumont will go as the afternoon's eighth race with a 4:57 p.m. post time. First post time for Friday's 10-race program that opens the 15-day Spring Meet is 1:05.

Trained by Keith Desormeaux, My Girl Red will be making her 2021 debut on Friday. James Graham will be aboard for the first time and break from post one.

Two fillies coming out of Florida may provide challenges to My Girl Red.

West Point Thoroughbreds, John Ballantyne, William Freeman and Michael Valdes' Lady Traveler finished second in the Forward Gal (G3) at Gulfstream in her most recent start on dirt. Trained by Dale Romans, Lady Traveler will break from post five under Corey Lanerie.

G. Watts Humphrey Jr.'s Farsighted, winner of the Any Limit at Gulfstream in her most recent start, returns to Keeneland where she broke her maiden last fall before running second in the Songbird on the Breeders' Cup's Future Stars Friday undercard. Julien Leparoux has the mount and will break from post three.

The field for the Beaumont, with riders and weights from the rail out, is: My Girl Red (Graham, 120 pounds), Slumber Party (Joel Rosario, 118), Farsighted (Julien Leparoux, 118), Amalfi Princess (Tyler Gaffalione, 118), Lady Traveler (Lanerie, 118), Cilla (Colby Hernandez, 118) and Twenty Carat (Luis Saez, 118).

Lindy Farms and Ice Wine Stable's Fauci, never worse than second in four career starts, will begin his 2021 campaign Friday when he headlines a field of 10 3-year-olds entered Monday for the second running of the $100,000 Palisades Turf Sprint going 5½ furlongs on the grass.

The Palisades Turf Sprint will go as the seventh race Friday afternoon with a 4:24 p.m. post time.

Trained by Wesley Ward, Fauci ran second to stablemates Golden Pal in the Skidmore at Saratoga and Outadore in the Juvenile Turf Sprint at Kentucky Downs to close his 2020 campaign.

Tyler Gaffalione has the mount on Fauci and will break from post position eight.

Returning to Keeneland, where he won the Indian Summer (L) Presented by Keeneland Select last October, is Kristin Boice and Marylou Holden's Bodenheimer.

Trained by Valorie Lund, Bodenheimer closed 2020 with an eighth-place finish behind Golden Pal in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G2) here. Brian Hernandez Jr. will be back aboard and break from post two.

Pricey Princess Noor Leads Field For Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante

Zedan Racing Stables' Princess Noor, a $1.35 million purchase at auction earlier this year, appears a solid choice at Del Mar Sunday when she heads a lineup of six juvenile fillies in the 70th edition of the Grade 1, $250,000 Del Mar Debutante.

Princess Noor “won for fun” in her straight maiden debut at the shore oval on Aug. 22 under Victor Espinoza and is wheeled back 15 days later in quest of her first chunk of black type. The rider put his charge on the lead out of the gate, then never asked her late in her bow and she just cruised away from six rivals that day to tally by two and a half lengths. She's worked twice since for conditioner Bob Baffert and the daughter of the Giant's Causeway sire Not This Time could take a lot of catching on Sunday.

Here's the full field for the seven furlong headliner from the rail out with riders and morning line odds: Reddam Racing's Get On the Bus (Mario Gutierrez, 8-1); Dale F Taylor Racing, Taylor, et al's Roll Up Mo Money (Drayden Van Dyke, 12-1); Erich G. Brehm's My Girl Red (Flavien Prat, 3-1); Princess Noor (8/5); Bolton, Leidel or Lipman, et al's Illumination (Abel Cedillo, 4-1), and Phoenix Thoroughbred's Forest Caraway (Ricky Gonzalez, 7/2).

Princess Noor's chief rival appears to be the Texas Red filly My Girl Red, who trains out of the barn of J. Keith Desormeaux. The bay miss has raced twice and won both, most recently in the G2 Sorrento Stakes at Del Mar on Aug. 7. Desormeaux and owner/breeder Brehm raced My Girl Red's daddy, winning the Breeders' Cup Juvenile with him, several other major stakes and more than $1.6 million.

Get On the Bus began her career in the Sorrento and was a good second to My Girl Red that day. The Uncle Mo filly, a $340,000 purchase at a 2-year-old in training sale in March, has trained well for Doug O'Neill since that start and should move forward from her racing experience.

Forest Caraway was a winner of her lone outing, a straight maiden sprint at Del Mar on Aug. 15. The bay daughter of Bodemeister races out of the Peter Miller barn.

Roll Up Mo Money, also an Uncle Mo offspring, won her debut at Del Mar on Aug. 2, capturing a five-furlong dash by a length and a quarter. She's put in four solid works for trainer Jeff Mullins since.

Illumination chased home Forest Caraway in her first attempt at afternoon racing. The Medaglia d'Oro miss was a $900,000 yearling purchase and she also is under the training care of Hall of Fame conditioner Baffert.

The Del Mar Debutante, one of three stakes Sunday, goes as the ninth race on an 11-race card. First post on Sunday is 1 p.m.
