Gold Shines Brightest At Arqana Online Sale

A select catalogue for the Arqana Online January Sale was topped by dual winner Gypsy Gold (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}) (lot 6) who was knocked down to Ibrahim Araci of Old Mill Stud for €280,000.

Consigned by Haras de Saint Pari, the filly-out-of-training is out of the G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches and G1 Prix de Diane-placed Glorious Sight (Ire) (Singspiel {Ire}). The 4-year-old is a half-sister to Group 2 winner Glycon (Fr) (Le Havre {Ire}) and a full-sibling to the stakes-placed Glaer (GB) (Siyouni {Fr}).

There were also four lots marked as sold from the Haras des Coudraies consignment, with that operation in the process of downsizing. Tops of the foursome was Korliska (Fr) (Saint Des Saints {Fr}) (lot 2), who joined the Haras du Berlais fold for €72,000. She is a full-sister to multiple group winner and Group 1-placed Kobrouk (Fr) (Saint Des Saints {Fr}). Haras de Chantemerle snapped up fellow Coudraies draft member Kapkine (Fr) (Kapgarde {Fr}) (lot 4) for €41,000. She is in foal to Masked Marvel (GB).

Breeding rights in both Victor Ludorum (GB) (lot 9) and Latrobe (Ire) (lot 11) sold for €21,000 and €16,000, respectively. The former was picked up by Oliver St Lawrence, while Guy Petit struck for the latter.

Breeding Right In Cracksman Tops Tattersalls Online

A breeding right in Group 1 sire Cracksman (GB) (lot 92) topped the Tattersalls Online January Sale at 50,000gns to Dan Astbury post sale.

The Darley-based sire enjoyed a strong year with his progeny in 2023 anchored by undefeated Classic winner and G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe hero Ace Impact (Ire), who now stands at Haras de Beaumont.

Astbury said, “I am delighted to have purchased the breeding right in the exciting Cracksman on behalf of a client who is building up a very nice band of broodmares. The year the stallion has had speaks for itself, being responsible for superstar Ace Impact who is himself now a very exciting recruit to the stallion ranks. My client is delighted and fingers crossed it works out well for him down the line.”

Ulysses (GB) 3-year-old Trojan Storm (GB) (lot 2) sold from Ralph Beckett's Kimpton Down Stables to AA Bloodstock for 35,000gns. The chestnut horse-in-training ran second on debut at Wolverhampton last week and boasts a strong pedigree, as his Pivotal (GB) dam, Mystic Storm (GB), is a full-sister to listed winner Solar Magic (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) and a half to the G1 1000 Guineas/G1 Coronation S. runner-up Starscope (GB) (Selkirk). The latter is the dam of Cartier Champion 2-Year-Old Filly Inspiral (GB) (Frankel {GB}).

Rounding out the top three lots was Houghton Bloodstock's Renzia (Ger) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) (lot 85) in foal to Cracksman, who changed hands for 25,000gns to One Agency. The 6-year-old mare, a relative of tough American handicapper and GI Gulfstream Park H. and GI Sword Dancer H. hero and Japanese sire Cetewayo (His Majesty) is out of a full-sister to GI Beverly D. S. winner Dynaforce (Dynaformer). Renzia is also a half-sister to a trio of black-type horses, among them dual Grade I-placed Stormy Len (Harlan's Holiday).

Overall, 43 lots sold for a gross of 275,300gns. The average was 6,402gns and the median settled at 3,000gns.

Catalog for Wanamaker’s January Sale Online

The Wanamaker's January Sale catalog is now available online at www.wanamakers.com. The catalog features horses of racing age, open broodmares, in-foal broodmares, and stallion seasons.

Highlights of the Catalog Include:

– A 2024 NG season to Great Notion. Great Notion is the #1 Maryland sire six years running.

Luna Santa, a broodmare by Birdstone offered open for the 2024 breeding season. She is a stakes-placed mare out of a stakes-winning mare.

Cartesian, a 3-year-old racing prospect by Grade I-winning sire Liam's Map. She is out of the Kitten's Joy mare, Pure Elation who is a full sister to two stakes winners.

Topazio, a stakes-placed mare by More Than Ready. She is out of a multiple black-type producing mare by Dixieland Band.

Sinnerman Popular At Auctav January Sale

Sinnerman (Fr) (Territories {Ire}) (lot 3), a 4-year-old out of Passing By (GB) (Raven's Pass), sold for €18,000 to Damien de Watrigant during the Auctav January Sale on Tuesday.

The chestnut is a half-brother to listed winner Sissy Chanel (Tapizar), who was also group placed. Second dam Miss Anabaa (GB) (Anabaa) won the G3 Ballyogan S.

A son of Anodin (Ire), Qantiem (Fr) (lot 1) made €11,000 to the same buyer earlier in the sale.

The mixed sale also featured shares in a pair of trotting sires, with a share in Gu d'Heripre (Fr) (lot 5) making €41,000 to Ecurie Luck; while Olivier Deboudaud spent €40,000 on a share in Ideal Du Pommeau (Fr) (lot 6).
