Maximus Mischief’s Glengarry Too Strong in Bowman Mill

Iowa-bred Glengarry (Maximus Mischief) ran his record to three wins from as many appearances with a good-looking victory in Saturday's Bowman Mill S. at Keeneland.

The 5-2 second choice off a 12 3/4-length romp against his fellow state-breds in the Sept. 30 Iowa Cradle S., the gray colt was under the pump early from Luis Saez as he tried to match strides with Cowes (Outwork) to his outside, but when it was apparent that he was not going to make the lead, Glengarry was taken hold of for a stride or two and guided into the two path to stalk the loose leader. Asked to claim that front-runner as they hit the stretch, Glengarry went for home at the three-sixteenths, but may have idled a bit as Normandy Hero (Omaha Beach) began to cut into the lead. But the Doug Anderson trainee rebroke and maintained a safe margin to the wire.

“It was a pretty quick decision we had to make,” Saez said of the choice to drag Glengarry off the pace. “We know this horse has been running on the lead, and he's fast. Today was a tough race. He broke from there sharp, and we had a little pressure, but we had to make a quick decision and take a little hold. I put him right there outside, and he responded perfectly.”

A $55,000 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July yearling, Glengarry made for a nice profit when hammering for $150,000 at this year's Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-olds in training sale in May. One of two stakes winners for his leading freshman sire (by Into Mischief), Glengarry is out of a half-sister to a pair of black-type placers and has a yearling half-sister by Good Samaritan and a weanling full-sister. L. A. Way was most recently bred to Tonalist. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by FanDuel TV.

Madness Yet Another First-Out Winner for Maximus Mischief

2nd-Gulfstream, $42,000, Msw, 10-22, 2yo, f, 5f (AWT), :57.61, ft, 2 lengths.
MADNESS (f, 2, Maximus Mischief–Mine Own, by Mineshaft) became the crop-leading 22nd winner for her first-crop sire (by Into Mischief) with an 57-10 upset at first asking. Last away and outsprinted through the early exchanges, the $15,000 KEENOV weanling turned $75,000 OBSOCT yearling–equipped with cheek pieces and a shadow roll for the debut–was angled down to the inside by Samy Camacho and commenced a steady advance three furlongs out. Swung out wide for the drive, the bay quickly rounded up odds-on On the Dot (Summer Front) at the furlong grounds and finished up strongly to score by two lengths. From the family of Capote and Exceller, Madness is the last listed produce for her dam. Sales history: $15,000 Wlg '21 KEENOV; $75,000 Ylg '22 OBSOCT. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $24,000. Grade I Producers Added To The Fasig-Tipton November Sale

The dams of two recent Grade I winners and of a third elite-level scorer heading to the GI Breeders' Cup Distaff are among the latest supplemental entries to The November Sale at Fasig-Tipton.

The stakes-winning Toni Tools (Roaring Fever), cataloged as hip 254 and selling with EliTE, is the dam of Candied (Candy Ride {Arg}) who ran her record to two wins from as many starts in the GI Darley Alcibiades S. and heads to California as a leading chance in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Nov. 3.

Similarly, 'TDN Rising Star' Muth (Good Magic) will be one of the favorites for the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile on the strength of his impressive victory in the GI American Pharoah S. Oct. 7. His 7-year-old dam Hoppa (Uncle Mo) is back in foal to Good Magic and will be offered by Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa, agent, as hip 257.

Brooklynsway (Giant Gizmo), winner during her racing days of the GIII Doubledogdare S. at Keeneland and earner of nearly $725,000, sells as hip 258 from the Taylor Made draft. The Ontario-bred mare's first foal is Adare Manor (Uncle Mo), who took out this year's GI Clement L. Hirsch S. at Del Mar and is pointing for the Nov. 4 Distaff for trainer Bob Baffert. She is cataloged as hip 258 and is pregnant to Tapit, having produced a full-brother to Adare Manor this past March.

Other additions to The November Sale include MSW/MGSP Happy Soul (Runhappy) (hip 253) from Denali Stud; Plum Pretty S. winner One More Kelly (Not This Time) (hip 255) to be sold by Pope McLean, agent; and a weanling colt by leading freshman sire Maximus Mischief (hip 256) that is consigned by Bluewater Sales.
