Kingman’s Well-Related Sparkling Plenty Snags Marseille Feature

Patrice Cottier trainee Sparkling Plenty (Fr) (Kingman {GB}–Speralita {Fr}, by Frankel {GB}) notched a three-length debut success at Marseille-Borely earlier this month and swooped late over the same course and distance in Monday's Listed Prix Delahante to maintain her perfect record on black-type bow. She was steadied off the tempo and settled into a smooth rhythm racing sixth through halfway in the 8 1/2-furlong contest. Hurried along rounding the home turn, the 9-10 favourite made relentless headway under mild rousting in the straight and kept on strongly to usurp long-time leader Tiffanyli (Fr) (Lethal Force {Ire}) by a length nearing the line for a career high.

Pedigree Notes
Sparkling Plenty, the latest of three foals, is one of two scorers produced by an unraced half-sister to multiple elite-level heroine and US champion Stacelita (Fr) (Monsun {Ger}), herself the dam of three black-type winners headed by MG1SW dual Japanese champion Soul Stirring (Jpn) (Frankel {GB}). Descendants of Stacelita also include last term's G1 Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas) and G1 Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks) victrix Stars On Earth (Jpn) (Duramente {Jpn}). Sparkling Plenty's dam Speralita (Fr) (Frankel {GB}) is also a half-sister to the dam of last month's G1 Prix du Moulin victrix Sauterne (Fr) (Kingman {GB}). Eight Declared For Europe’s Juvenile Opener

Europe's first 2-year-old contest of the year, Marseille-Borely's five-furlong Prix de Carqueiranne, takes place Thursday morning and has attracted a final field of eight newcomers.

It features a trio hailing from the Fabrice Vermeulen yard, including €10,000 Arqana September graduate Bad Boy (Fr), who will become the first representative of Haras de Saint-Vincent's freshman sire Fas (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}). The February-foaled bay is a son of Listed Prix Caravelle third Queendara (Fr) (Kendargent {Fr}), herself a daughter of Listed Prix Occitanie victrix and G3 Prix de Royaumont placegetter Dance In The Park (Fr) (Walk In The Park {Ire}).

Europe's second juvenile event, a €23,000 4 1/2-furlong test for newcomers, will take place Sunday at Lyon-Parilly. Pre-declaration entries include standard-bearers for first-season sires Calyx (GB) (Kingman {GB}), Donjuan Triumphant (Ire) (Dream Ahead), Inns Of Court (Ire) (Invicible Spirit {Ire}) and Palace Prince (Ger) (Areion {Ger}).

Ireland is slated to get underway on Mar. 25 at the Curragh, with its usually informative opening five-furlong maiden for youngsters, while Britain waits an extra week for Doncaster's £35,000 Apr. 1 Brocklesby, won last year by subsequent G2 July S. victor and three-time Group 1 placegetter Persian Force (Ire) (Mehmas {Ire}).

Dabirsim’s Horizon Dore Bounds To Delahante Triumph

Patrice Cottier trainee Horizon Dore (Fr) (Dabirsim {Fr}–Sweet Alabama (Fr), by Enrique {GB}) took his tally to a perfect two-for-two when annexing Monday's Listed Prix Delahante at Marseille-Borely. The gelded 2-year-old had posted a five-length debut win at Salon-de-Provence last month and bounded to another wide-margin triumph on black-type bow in the 8 1/2-furlong juvenile contest. Foiling a Cottier exacta, Harry Way (Fr) (Galiway {GB}) nailed Horizon Dore's stablemate Cambronne (Fr) (Alex The Winner) on the line for second.

Recovering from a sluggish getaway to track the leaders in fourth after passing the judge first time, the 14-5 second choice loomed large to launch his challenge full of run in early straight and surged clear of toiling rivals in style, once seizing control approaching the furlong pole, for a career high.

Blue Wings A Stakes First For Wings of Eagles At Marseille-Borely

With Aigle Vaillant (Fr) (Wings of Eagles {Fr}) becoming the third individual winner for his freshman sire (by Pour Moi {Ire}) at Le Pin Au Haras on Sunday, Jean-Pierre-Joseph Dubois' homebred 2-year-old filly Blue Wings (Fr) took matters a stage further by becoming the Beeches Stud incumbent's first stakes scorer in Monday's Listed Prix Delahante at Marseille-Borely.

Blue Wings, who posted a July 25 debut runner-up finish going seven furlongs at Bordeaux's La Teste de Buch venue, graduated in a Sept. 4 one-mile maiden here in her penultimate start and went postward for this black-type bow returning off a Sept. 25 second upped to this distance at Salon-de-Provence last time. Moving forward from an early slot along the rail in fourth to go third at the entrance to the backstraight, she made smooth headway off the home turn to go second along the far-side rail entering the final furlong and was ridden out in the closing stages to deny Asad Zabeel (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) by a length nearing the line for a career high, becoming the first black-type winner for her freshman sire (by Pour Moi {Ire}).

Blue Wings is the fourth of five foals and one of three winners produced by a winning granddaughter of Listed Flying Fillies' S. victrix Arabesque (GB) (Zafonic), herself the dam of six black-type performers headed by MGSW sire Showcasing (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}) and GSP sire Camacho (GB) (Danehill).
