Mandatory Payout Brings Over $2 Million In ‘New’ Monday To Gulfstream’s Rainbow 6

Gulfstream Park's mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 Sunday had multiple winning tickets each worth $12,558.86.

The Rainbow 6 had a carryover of $266,566.95 going in Sunday. There was $2,077,971 of new money wagered in the pool Sunday at the Hallandale Beach, Fla., track.

The jackpot pool is usually only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. However, on mandatory payout days the whole pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors holding tickets with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

There will be a $100,000 guaranteed pool in the Rainbow 6 when racing resumes Wednesday as well as a Super Hi-5 carryover of $6,357.54.

Maiden Fillies in the Spotlight
A trio of maiden races for 3-year-old fillies highlighted some of Gulfstream's Sunday card.

Gary and Mary West's Slumber Party, a 3-year-old daughter of Malibu Moon, made an impressive debut Sunday, going seven furlongs and winning by 7 ½ lengths in 1:23.05. The filly is trained by Kelly Breen. Another 3-year-old filly breaking her maiden was Joy of Painting, a daughter of Munnings trained by Rusty Arnold, racing on turf for the first time in four starts and covering a mile on a firm course in 1:36.10. Tabor Hall, a daughter of Candy Ride trained by Ken McPeek, broke her maiden in her sixth attempt and her first trip over turf. Tabor Hall covered a 1 1/16 mile course in 1:44.75 while winning by 1 ½ lengths.

WHO'S HOT: Tyler Gaffalione, who had four winners on Pegasus Day, stayed hot with three winners Sunday. Gaffalione won aboard Think It Thru ($4.40) in the second, King Ottokar ($6.80) in the sixth and Royal Meghan ($3.20) in the ninth.

Gulfstream: Spectacular Debut By Prevalance, Rainbow 6 Mandatory Payout On Sunday

Godolphin LLC's Prevalence produced a spectacular debut on Saturday' Pegasus Day program, scoring by 8 ½ lengths under a motionless Tayler Gaffalione in a seven-furlong maiden special weight race.

The 3-year-old son of Medaglia d'Oro ($17.60) slipped through along the rail to take the lead midway along the backstretch, shook off an outside challenge by Stage Raider, a half-brother to 2018 Triple Crown champion Justify, and kicked away to a thoroughly dominating victory.

“I thought he was a nice colt. He put in some nice work, but of course, you're always looking for confirmation. Thankfully, we got it,” trainer Brendan Walsh said. “It was a lovely experience, which is great for a young 3-year-old first time out.”

The homebred colt ran seven furlongs in 1:23 in the Race 6 sprint. John Gunther's Stage Raider finished second in his debut, a half-length ahead of Ghazaaly, a debuting son of Curlin for Shadwell Stable.

Walsh and Gaffalione came right back to team for a victory with Zofelle ($7.60) in the $125,000 Marshua's River (G3), the second of seven graded stakes on Saturday's card that was coheadlined by the $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) and the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1).

Mandatory Rainbow 6 Payout Set for Sunday's Program
A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is set for Sunday's program at Gulfstream Park.

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved Saturday, three days after a lucky bettor broke the jackpot for $636,311 on Wednesday. Multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $2,149.12 Saturday, producing a jackpot pool of $266,566.95 heading into Sunday's card

Sunday's Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 6-11, featuring a field of royally bred 3-year-old fillies in Race 8, a mile maiden special weight race on turf. Chad Brown-trained Richebourg, a daughter of Curlin who was bought at auction for $800,000; Kenny McPeek-trained Salit, a daughter of American Pharoah; Christophe Clement-trained Brina, a daughter of Zoffany, and Phenomenal Woman, a daughter of Mucho Macho Man; and Brian Lynch-trained Scarlett Lace, a daughter of Medaglia d'Oro; are slated to make their respective debuts.

WHO'S HOT: Tyler Gaffalione rode four winner's on Saturday's card at Gulfstream After scoring a natural hat trick aboard Olympic Runner ($11.80) in Race 5, Prevalence ($17.60) in Race 6 and Zofelle ($7.60) in the Marshua's River (G3) in Race 7, Gaffalione came back to ride Tide of the Sea ($10) to victory in the $150,000 W. L. McKnight (G3) in Race 10.

Gulfstream Park: Mandatory Payout Spurs $5.3 Million Into Rainbow 6 Pool

Multiple winning tickets on Gulfstream Park's mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 Saturday were each worth $14,626.86.

There was $5,353.843 of new money bet into the pool at the Hallandale Beach, Fla., track.

The Rainbow 6 begins anew Sunday with a $100,000 guaranteed pool beginning with the sixth race, an allowance optional claiming event at 1 1/16 miles on the turf featuring a field of six. The first race in the sequence is followed by a maiden special weight event at five furlongs on the turf for 3-year-old fillies. There were four turf races in Sunday's Rainbow 6.

There will also be a Super Hi-5 carryover Sunday of $8,740.12.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is usually only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. Gaffalione also won the third race with Shadwell Stable's first-time starter, Lamutanaatty, a 3-year-old son of Into Mischief, and the allowance optional claimer fourth race with Bluegrass Parkway…Trainer Bill Mott had a pair of 3-year-olds break their maidens Saturday. Frank Fletcher Racing Operations, Inc.'s Candy Man Rocket, a son of Candy Ride making his second start, ran away from eight others to win over six furlongs by 9 ¼ lengths in 1:11.28. Donald Dizney's homebred Simovitch won going a mile by 3 ½ lengths while covering the distance in 1:39.04.

Gulfstream Park: Guaranteed $1.4-Million Rainbow 6 Jackpot Thursday; Mandatory Payout Saturday

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be guaranteed at $1.4 million Thursday at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla.

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the 11th racing day in a row Wednesday, when multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $14,488.28.

A mandatory payout of the Rainbow 6 pool is scheduled for Saturday.

Thursday's Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-10, highlighted by the Race 9 feature, a five-furlong optional claiming allowance on turf. Tiger Blood is scheduled to seek his 20^th career victory against six rivals.

There will also be a carryover of $12,612.49 in the $1 Super Hi-5 wager for Thursday's opener going 1 1/8 miles on the grass.

WHO'S HOT: Leading rider Luis Saez made three visits to the Gulfstream winner's circle after scoring aboard Raulito ($5.40) in Race 1, Corey ($7.60) in Race 6 and Shootin the Breeze ($7.80) in Race 8.
