Woodbine To Offer Mandatory Payout On Hi-5 Aug. 8; Jackpot At $268,052

Woodbine Entertainment announced on Saturday that there will be a mandatory payout for the Woodbine Thoroughbred Jackpot Hi-5 next Saturday, Aug. 8.

Wagering on the Jackpot Hi-5 will be suspended following this weekend and will not be offered on the Thursday, Aug. 6 and Friday, Aug. 7 racing programs. The carryover, which has been growing since June 21, currently sits at $268,052.47.

The Jackpot Hi-5 wager, which has a 20-cent minimum bet, requires horseplayers to select the top five finishers in the correct order for the final race on the program. The Jackpot proviso means that the entire pool pays out only when there is a single winning ticket or when there is a mandatory payout.

The last time there was a mandatory payout on the Thoroughbred Jackpot Hi-5 was on the 2019 season finale (December 15). The carryover was $80,221.02 with $284,592 wagered in new money. The payout was $7,164.70.

The draw for Saturday's race card will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 5.

Gulfstream Park: Friday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Guaranteed At $1.1 Million; Mandatory Payout Rescheduled For Aug. 9

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be guaranteed at $1.1 million Friday at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla.

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the 16th consecutive racing program Thursday, when multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $3,541.40

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

A mandatory payout of the Rainbow 6 jackpot pool has been rescheduled from Sunday, Aug. 2, to Sunday, Aug. 9, due to forecasts that Tropical Storm Isaias may pose a weekend threat to Florida.

Friday's Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-10. Combination looms as a popular 'single' in Race 6, having won seven of his last eight starts. The 4-year-old son of Alternation, who is rated as the 9-5 morning-line favorite in the starter allowance, has been claimed out of his last five starts, most recently by owner Frank Calabrese and trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. for $25,000.

Races 8 and 10 will also be included in Friday's Stronach 5 sequence. In Race 8, a mile turf race for $40,000 claimers, stakes winner Joseph-trained Captain D will seek to make amends for recent disappointment against better company.  Race 10, a $12.500 claiming race for non-winners of three races, will be contested at five furlongs on turf. The Stronach 5 will be kicked off by Race 6 at Laurel Park, followed by Race 8 at Gulfstream, Races 7 and 8 at Laurel and Race 10 at Gulfstream.

$447,361 In Pick 5 Jackpot For Mandatory Payout Monday At Assiniboia Downs

The $447,361.22 carryover for the Assiniboia Downs Jackpot Pick 5 pool will be paid out on Monday, July 6.

“The stage is set now for the mandatory payout event,” said Darren Dunn, CEO of the Winnipeg, Canada, track.  “Assiniboia Downs has the highest carryover for any pool in North America right now and we are paying it all out on Monday.”

The single winner Jackpot Pick 5 pool has not been won after 18 consecutive racing programs and it is scheduled for a mandatory payout day. A mandatory payout day requires that the entire jackpot and the current day's pool must be paid out to the winners that day. These events draw substantially more wagering as everyone is trying to win their share of the jackpot bonus.

“Players have been chasing the jackpot for weeks now and have been eager to claim a share of that carryover,” said Dunn.  “They know the wagering will be huge on that day, which just adds to the excitement.  This will most likely be a record setting day.”

Estimations for the pool size vary widely but it could possibly exceed $1,000,000 for that one pool.

The Jackpot Pick 5 bet requires the selection of the winners of the last 5 races in the program.  The cost of a ticket is only 20 cents.

Assiniboia Downs racing product is available throughout North America and it is now being broadcast internationally to places such as Australia and Europe.

The Downs also has a Jackpot Hi-5 bet with a carryover now of $63,000. This pool requires the correct selection of the first 5 finishers of the last race of every racing program.

Racing continues every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday through September 15 at 7:30 pm (Central Time).
