TVG’s Weekly Super 8 Contest Features Mandatory Payout Of $250,000 Jackpot

For the first time since introducing the promotion in 2017, TVG, America's horse racing network and leading advanced-deposit wagering platform, will offer a mandatory payout in its popular free-to-play Super 8 contest this week, as the jackpot has grown to $250,000.

The contestant who selects the most winners in this week's upcoming Super 8 will win the $250,000 jackpot. If more than one contestant picks the highest number of winners, those contestants will win equal shares of the $250,000 jackpot.

TVG will announce which races will be part of the Super 8 sequence later this week.

This is the first year TVG has included a carryover component to the Super 8, adding $25,000 per week as the jackpot builds from $100,000. There is no purchase or wager of any kind necessary, but entry is restricted to TVG account holders in TVG participating states as well as 4NJBet account holders, age 21+. New sign-ups will also receive a risk-free bet of up to $200.

In prior years, the Super 8 grand prize was $100,000 for selecting all eight races in the sequence correctly with smaller prizes for selecting more than five races correctly.

Mandatory Payout Of Rainbow Six Scheduled For Santa Anita Derby Day

With sunny skies forecast, Santa Anita Park will play host to a blockbuster 12-race program on Saturday, with the 84th running of the Grade 1, $750,000 Runhappy Santa Anita Derby highlighting an afternoon that will include a total of six stakes races.

Special early first post time is set for 12 noon and there is also a mandatory payout in the popular 20 cent Rainbow Pick Six, creating the possibility of a $5 million pool. Saturday's Rainbow Six will begin with race seven, which has an approximate post time of 3:45 p.m. PT.

Although the state of California has okayed limited General Public admission at Santa Anita beginning this Friday, fans are advised that per state directives, there will be no walk-up admission. All attendees must have a reserved seat, which can be purchased at santaanita.com/open.

The Runhappy Santa Anita Derby, which has produced 19 Kentucky Derby winners and two Triple Crown Champions (Affirmed in 1978 and Justify in 2018), has been carded as race eight, with an approximate post time of 4:15 p.m. PT.

Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert, who has won a record nine Runhappy Santa Anita Derbies, will send out the likely favorite Medina Spirit, a Florida-bred colt that was purchased out of a 2-year-old in training sale last year for a bargain $35,000 and he'll also be represented by lightly raced recent maiden winner Defunded.

The Runhappy Santa Anita Derby will be broadcast live on NBCSN, additionally, all of Santa Anita's races are available live and free of charge at santaanita.com/live.

A dominant force in American racing, Baffert, a two-time Triple Crown winner, won his record-equaling sixth Kentucky Derby last year with eventual Horse of the Year Authentic and he'll be bidding to break a tie with fellow Hall of Famer Ben Jones in this year's Run for the Roses on May 1 at Churchill Downs.

Five other stakes, the Grade 2, $400,000 Santa Anita Oaks, the Grade 2, $200,000 Royal Heroine, the Grade 3, $100,000 Providencia, the $150,000 Evening Jewel and the $150,000 Echo Eddie will all be included in what should be a spectacular day of racing.

With idyllic weather conditions predicted for Saturday, Santa Anita's Infield Area will be open, but fans must pre-purchase tickets at santaanita.com/open, where detailed information is also available.

Full vehicular access will be available on Saturday, via Gate 8 off of Baldwin Ave, Gate 3 off of Holly Ave., Gate 5, at the confluence of Huntington Drive and Colorado Place and via Infield Gate 6.

In addition to the track's website, fans can also call (626) 574-RACE for additional information.

Aqueduct: Empire 6 Will Continue To Offer Daily Mandatory Payout Through April

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) today announced the Empire 6 wager will continue to offer a daily mandatory payout in April at Aqueduct Racetrack.

Featuring a $0.20 bet minimum and 20 percent takeout, the Empire 6 wager requires bettors to select the first-place finisher of the final six races of the card. The full pool, minus takeout, will be distributed to bettors who select the first-place finisher in the greatest number of races on the card.

In January, NYRA established a daily mandatory payout of the Empire 6 at Aqueduct as part of a pilot program in response to horseplayer interest in wagers that reward the daily player with the opportunity for impressive payouts.

The Empire 6 was launched in August 2019 with a jackpot provision in which the full pool would be paid out only to a single ticket selecting the first-place finisher in all six races, otherwise 75 percent of the day's net pool would be distributed to those who selected the first-place finisher in the greatest number of races with the remainder added into a jackpot and carried to the next day's Empire 6.

The Big A winter meet concludes on Sunday, March 28. The 11-day Aqueduct spring meet will run Thursday, April 1 through Sunday, April 18 with live racing offered on a Thursday to Sunday schedule. The spring meet will include 13 stakes worth $2.7 million in purses highlighted by the 96th running of the Grade 2, $750,000 Wood Memorial presented by Resorts World Casino on Saturday, April 3.
