Mandatory Payout Scheduled For Saturday’s All-Stakes Derby City 6 At Churchill Downs

There will be a mandatory payout in the 20-cent Derby City 6 on Saturday at Churchill Downs with all monies distributed to ticket holders with the most winners in the six-race series.

The jackpot carryover was $89,846 at the start of Thursday's eight-race card, and provided there are no single ticket winners Thursday or Friday, track officials estimate the force-out of Saturday's total Derby City 6 pool to eclipse $500,000 with new money.

Each race in Saturday's Derby City 6, which only costs 20 cents per combination, is a stakes race as part of Stephen Foster Preview Day. The sequence will cover Races 6-11 starting at 3:18 p.m. (all times Eastern).

The daily six-race Derby City 6 sequence has challenged bettors to select the winners of six consecutive races but the Jackpot pool only is paid if there is a single winning ticket. When multiple tickets contain six winners 90 percent of that day's pool is paid out and 10 percent is added to the Jackpot carryover. Again, Saturday's Derby City 6 pool will be paid to all ticket holders with the most winners in the six-race series.

Takeout on the Derby City 6 is just 15 percent, which is one of the lowest multi-race wager takeout rates in American racing.

Saturday's sequence features the $150,000 Blame for 4-year-olds and up at 1 1/8 miles (seven entries); the $150,000 Shawnee for fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles (eight entries); the $150,000 Regret (Grade III) for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/8 miles on turf (nine entries); $150,000 Matt Winn (GIII) for 3-year-olds at 1 1/16 miles (eight entries); $150,000 Aristides for 4-year-olds and up at six furlongs (10 entries); and $110,000 Douglas Park Overnight Stakes for 4-year-olds and up at 1 1/16 miles on turf (nine entries).

Churchill Downs' admission gates will open at 11:30 a.m. and tickets, starting at $5, are available on www.ChurchillDowns.com/tickets. The first of 11 races is 12:45 p.m. and the finale is scheduled for 5:58 p.m.

All 11 races on the Stephen Foster Preview Day card at Churchill Downs are scheduled to be televised on Fox Sports 2 from 12:30-6 p.m. as part of the “America's Day at the Races” coverage produced by the New York Racing Association.

Mandatory Payout For Santa Anita Rainbow 6 Slated For May 16

With the middle jewel in racing's Triple Crown, the Grade 1 Preakness Stakes on Saturday, there will be a mandatory payout in Santa Anita's popular 20 cent Rainbow Pick 6 Jackpot the following day, Sunday, May 16.

Providing there is no Single Ticket Rainbow Six winner on Saturday, track officials project Sunday's total Rainbow Pick 6 pool could approach $4 million. As an additional enticement to players, 1/ST BET, the official app of Santa Anita Park, is offering players a free wager, up to $10, on Sunday's Rainbow Pick Six.

In order to be eligible, players are asked to download the 1/ST BET app and to place a wager on Sunday's Rainbow Six, and the first $10 will be on the house.

With entries taken on Thursday for a nine-race card Sunday, first post time is at 1:00 p.m., the Rainbow Six will begin with Sunday's fourth race, which has an approximate post time of 2:30 p.m. PT.

Although there is still no walk-up admission, Santa Anita is now open to the public on a limited basis by visiting santaanita.com.

For those not attending in-person, all of Santa Anita's races are available free of charge at santaanita.com/live and fans can watch and wager via several ADW platforms, including 1ST.com/bet.

Nicoletti, Mailloux Handicap Saturday’s Mandatory Payout Rainbow 6 At Gulfstream

A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 pool is set for Saturday at Gulfstream Park, and there will also be a Super Hi-5 carryover going into the first race of $3,766.40.

The Rainbow 6 wager went unsolved Friday for the 10th racing day since an April 17 mandatory payout, producing a carryover pool of $419,268.47 heading into Saturday's mandatory payout.

Ron Nicoletti & Ashley Mailloux sit down and handicap Saturday's mandatory Rainbow 6, a sequence with full fields and the English Channel Stakes.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. However, on mandatory payout days, the entire Rainbow 6 pool is disbursed to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will be kicked off by a six-furlong maiden special weight event for 3-year-olds and up in Race 7. Todd Pletcher-trained Splashtown, a 3-year-old son of Speightstown, and Kent Sweezey-trained Prowler, a sophomore son of Quality Road, are among three first-time starters in a field of 11. Mauricio Fuentes-trained Maddy's Dream, who finished second in his April 17 debut despite an awkward start, is like to receive a lot of attention from bettors.

Race 8, a mile race for $6250 claimers at a mile, will quickly be identified as a 'spread' race by many Rainbow 6 players.

Setting the Mood, who is scheduled to make his first start for leading trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. after being claimed for $20,000 out of a third-place finish, has been installed as the 5-2 morning-line favorite in Race 9, a mile turf race for $20,000 claiming fillies and mares that have not won two races lifetime. The former Todd Pletcher-trained 4-year-old filly, who finished fourth in the 2020 Belmont Oaks Invitational (G1), will clash with nine other well-matched fillies and mares.

Race 10, a six-furlong sprint for fillies and mares that haven't won two races lifetime, is likely to become another popular 'spread' race.

The English Channel, a 1 1/16-mile turf stakes for 3-year-olds, should also provide a strong challenge to handicappers in Race 11. Trainer Carlos David's highly regarded duo of Fulmini and Hot Blooded drew the two far outside posts, just inside Yes This Time, the 3-1 morning-line favorite in a field of 10, not including two main-track-only entrants.

A full field of $12,500 claimers will contest Race 12, a 1 1/16-mile turf race for 3-year-olds and up. Joseph-trained Keep Quiet, who is coming off a victory in $16,000 claiming company, is the 3-1 morning-line favorite.

Kentucky Derby Day To Feature Mandatory Payout Of Derby City 6

Large pools and a mandatory Kentucky Derby Day payout in the newly named Derby City 6 (formerly Single 6 Jackpot) highlight a spectacular wagering menu for the 38-day Spring Meet that begins Saturday at Churchill Downs.

The 20-cent Derby City 6, a jackpot wager where bettors must correctly tab the only winning combination to take down the entirety of the pool, handled more than $1.06 million in 2019. The 15-percent low takeout bet will begin Saturday and if multiple winning combinations correctly select six winners, 90 percent of the daily pool gets paid, while 10 percent will carryover to the next day. If no one correctly selects all six winners, the entirety of the day's pool will carryover to the next day.

Along with the Derby City 6, the return of the two-day Oaks/Derby Pick 6 will also be a top wager. The $2 minimum bet (2019 handle: $479,561) spans six Grade 1 events across Kentucky Oaks and Derby Days. The bet begins on Oaks Day with the $500,000 La Troienne (G1) and the $1.25 million Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1). It continues Kentucky Derby Day with the $500,000 Derby City Distaff presented by Kendall-Jackson Winery (G1), $500,000 Churchill Downs presented by Ford (G1), $1 million Old Forester Bourbon Turf Classic (G1) and the $3 million Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve (G1).

There will be four Pick 5 and Pick 4 wagers on Kentucky Derby Day. The third Pick 5 (2019 handle: $3,980,809) and third Pick 4 (2019 handle: $4,091,771) will feature an all-stakes sequence and culminate in the Kentucky Derby.

Superfecta wagers will once again return to a $1 minimum on Kentucky Derby and Oaks days but will be a 10-cent minimum on all other days.
