Charles Town: Friday’s Classic Card Pick 6 Features $10,225 Carryover For Mandatory Payout

Despite its jackpot carryover being hit last week, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races will still hold a mandatory payout of its Pick 6 carryover, which stands at $10,225 going into this evening's Charles Town Classic card. The Charles Town 6-12 carries a base wager of $0.20, will commence in Race 8 – the $150,000 Misty Bennett Pink Ribbon Stakes – and sports a low 12% takeout on the bet. Additionally, Charles Town will offer a $100,000 guarantee on both its late Pick 5 and late Pick 4 which begin in races 9 and 10 respectively.

Following all scratches announced this morning, the number of betting interests in the late Pick 4 and Pick 5 sequences as well as the Pick 6 remain unchanged with the only defection being Belle Tapisserie in Race 10 – the $150,000 Russell Road – who will be replaced in the field by Speighstford who draws in off the also eligible list. Alayla, who was on the also eligible list for the Charles Town Oaks, was also an early scratch as were also eligibles Cayenne Creek, Brother Corbin and William and Mary in the final race of the night, the $75,000 Frank Gall Memorial.

Post time for the first race on tonight's Charles Town Classic program is set for 5:00 P.M.

Charles Town To Offer Multiple Guaranteed Pools, Mandatory Pick 6 Payout On Classic Night

In addition to 13 races worth in excess of $2 million in purses, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races will also be offering a series of quality wagering opportunities for horseplayers on its Charles Town Classic card coming up on Friday, Aug. 27.

Both the late, all-stakes Pick 4 and Pick 5 on the Charles Town Classic card will come with $100,000 guarantees, where the track will supplement the difference in either pool if less than $100,000 is wagered. The Pick 4, which covers the final four races on the Classic card, and the Pick 5 covering the final five paid out $380.00 and $1,466.15 respectively for a 50-cent bet on the 2020 Classic card, despite 50-cent win parlays for each sequence returning less than half those amounts.

In addition to the multiple guaranteed pools, Charles Town has also scheduled a mandatory payout of the Charles Town 6-12 carryover which currently stands at $21,243 with 4 cards remaining prior to its distribution. The Charles Town 6-12 is a jackpot style Pick 6 covering the final six races on each Charles Town card and carries a low 12-percent takeout.

Due to the low takeout and size of the carryover, the mandatory payouts of the Charles Town 6-12 have typically resulted in a players' advantage of in upwards of 13% paid out on top of the gross pool on the night of the distribution.

The first race on Charles Town Classic day is slated for 5:00 P.M EST, with the $800,000 Charles Town Classic carrying a tentative post time of 10:18 P.M.

Prairie Meadows Schedules Mandatory Payout Of Jackpot Pick 5 On Aug. 16

Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino will offer a mandatory payout of the Jackpot Pick 5 on Monday, Aug. 16 after receiving the green light from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.

Going into the races of Friday, August 13, the Jackpot Pick 5 carryover will be $308,607.

“The Jackpot Pick 5 has been growing significantly over the last two weeks,” said Garrick Mallory, Assistant Director of Pari-Mutuels at Prairie Meadows. “If the jackpot isn't paid out before then, we expect the carryover to be in the $400,000 range by Monday, Aug. 16.”

“We believe this is a perfect opportunity to get money back in the hands of our loyal bettors and generate some excitement for a large pool,” Mallory added. “Additionally, it will allow enough time for a sizeable carryover to grow or a jackpot to be paid out before the end of our live racing season on Saturday, Sept. 25.”

Prairie Meadows offered a mandatory Jackpot Pick 5 payout earlier this season, on Monday, July 5. A $415,393 jackpot stimulated $2,047,266 in new money wagered into the Pick 5 sequence. Each winning ticket returned $25,072.90.

Prairie Meadows will offer live racing Friday through Monday of the coming week, with the Pick 5 sequence offered on the final five Thoroughbred races of the evening.

First post on Friday and Saturday is at 6 PM CT and first post on Sunday and Monday is at 4 PM CT.

About Prairie Meadows
