LTBA to Hold Louisiana Yearling Sale Oct. 1

The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association will host a yearling sale followed by a mixed session under the Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana banner Oct. 1.

The sale will be held at the Equine Sales of Louisiana facility in Opelousas, La. and will be limited to 228 stalls at the facility.

After not conducting a sale since 2015, the LTBA hosted a yearling sale averaging over $13,000 with a median of $8,000.

The entry deadline is July 6. Entry forms will be available in late May and be available to be downloaded from the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association web site of www.louisianabred.com.

LTBA Elects Five to Board of Directors

The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association has elected five members to its Board of Directors. The newly-elected Board members, who will each serve three-year terms, are as follows: Jay Adcock (158), Michelle LaVoice (143), Jim Montgomery (136), Michele Rodriguez (131), Jake Delhomme (126).

MK Election Services, an impartial balloting agency, certified the results.

Custom for Carlos Colt Tops Louisiana Sale

A colt by Custom for Carlos (hip 7) topped the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association's 2021 Yearling and Mixed Sale Saturday in Opelousas, Louisiana on a winning bid of $47,000 from Ricky Lagrange. Bred by Larry Romero, the bay is out of speedy 10-time winner Labadeel (Forest Wildcat). He was consigned by Clear Creek Stud, which was responsible for the auction's top seven lots. Custom For Carlos Colt Tops Louisiana Yearling And Mixed Sale

The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association's Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana held its 2021 Yearling Sale followed by mixed session, Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Equine Sales Facility in Opelousas.

With 13 outs and 22 RNAs, a total of 87 head sold for $898,000. The yearling average was $13,027. The weanling average was $3,117, and the mare average was $2,167.

Hip 7, a Custom For Carlos colt out of Labadeel, a Forest Wildcat mare, was purchased by Ricky Lagrange for $47,000 to top the sale. The bay colt was consigned by Clear Creek Stud, agent.

Hip 54, also out of the Clear Creek Stud consignment, was purchased by Norman Stables for $45,000, the second highest price of the day. A half-sister to stakes-placed Raising the Ante, the bay filly is by Midnight Storm out of the Majestic Warrior mare, Ante Up Annie.
