Longines Ceremony to be Live Streamed

The 2022 Longines World Racing Awards ceremony will be live-streamed on the social media accounts of Longines and the International Federation of Horse Racing Authorities, the IFHA announced Friday. The ceremony is scheduled to be Tuesday, Jan. 17 January 2023 at 2:15 British time, and 9:15 a.m. EST. The event will honor the Longines World's Best Racehorse and the Longines World's Best Horse Race of the 2022 season.

The in-person event will take place at Banqueting House in London. This year marked the 400th anniversary of the building, which is one of the Historic Royal Palaces and is the only surviving portion of the lost Palace of Whitehall. The live stream of the ceremony will be released on multiple digital platforms including World Horse Racing. Additionally, multiple other racing industry players from around the globe will show the awards, including the TDN on its homepage, and on our social media channels.

Longines To Sponsor Nov. 25 Card At Meydan

Meydan's Nov. 25 card will be presented by Longines. Featuring the G2 Madjani S. Presented by Longines for Purebred Arabians, the remaining six races are for Thoroughbreds, anchored by a 1200-metre handicap worth AED105,000. The first post is 6 p.m. local time.

Baaeed On Top Of Longines WBRR

Shadwell's undefeated Baaeed (GB) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) has improved to a mark of 128, two pounds better than his nearest challenger on the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings, which were released on Thursday. The dominant winner of the G1 Queen Anne S. defeated the 122-ranked Real World (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) at Royal Ascot. Nature Strip (Aus) (Nicconi {Aus}) is co-second on the ratings at 126 after a win in the G1 King's Stand S., alongside GI Metropolitan H. hero Flightline (Tapit).

Japan's Titleholder (Jpn) (Duramente {Jpn}) set a course record in the G1 Takarazuka Kinen defeating Hishi Iguazu (Jpn) (Heart's Cry {Jpn}) (120) and is now equal with Life Is Good (Into Mischief) at 124. State Of Rest (Ire) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}) is now at 122 after taking the G1 Prince Of Wales's S. at Royal Ascot, one pound better than Inspiral (GB) (Frankel {GB}), the victress of the G1 Coronation S. at the same meeting.

Fresh off his victory in the GI Woody Stephens S., Jack Christopher (Munnings) is ranked 123, as is Classic hero Vadeni (Fr) (Churchill {Ire}), who won the G1 Coral-Eclipse S. Longines And HKJC Renew Partnership For Five More Years

Longines and the Hong Kong Jockey Club have extended their partnership another five years to 2026. The partnership, which began in 2012, sees Longines continue as the title partner and Official Timekeeper of the G1 Longines Cup, the Longines International Jockeys' Championship and the Longines Hong Kong International Races. The Longines World's Best Jockey award is also presented during the Longines HKIR.

Hong Kong will also continue to be the home of the world's richest Group 1 turf races over 1200m, 1600m and 2000m when the collective prize money of the four Group 1 features at the Longines HKIR rises to a new high of HK$110 million ($14 million), an increase of HK$10 million ($1.27 million) on 2021. The new distribution of prize-money for the four Longines Group 1 races to be run at Sha Tin Racecourse is:

    • 2000m Hong Kong Cup–HK$34 million ($4.33 million)
    • 1600m Hong Kong Mile–HK$30 million ($3.82 million)
    • 1200m Hong Kong Sprint–HK$24 million ($3.06 million)
    • 2400m Hong Kong Vase–HK$22 million ($2.80 million)
