Turf Paradise To Close Oct. 1

Turf Paradise will no longer offer live racing or simulcasting beginning Oct. 1. Jerry Simms, the owner of the Phoenix-based track, announced Monday that after 23 years of operating the race track, he is retiring to spend more time with his family.

Turf Paradise also maintains 37 Off Track Betting sites throughout Arizona, which televise the live product and simulcasts from other race tracks across America for the purpose of wagering. In order for the OTB sites to operate, live racing is required. Since Turf Paradise will not be running a live race meet and the contract with the Arizona Horsemen Benevolent and Protective Association (AZHBPA) terminates Sept. 30 of this year, the OTBs will have to close effective Oct. 1.

Sky Racing World To Simulcast Racing From Hipodromo Chile

Hipodromo Chile has been added to Sky Racing World's content portfolio of International Racing it was announced Thursday. The live simulcast is to be distributed across North America commencing June 15 and is available to watch on the SRW website, major ADW platforms, and the SRW App.

Racing typically takes place every Thursday and Saturday with the first post at approximately 12pm EST.

David Haslett, CEO of Sky Racing World, stated: “We are proud to offer the simulcast of racing from Hipodromo Chile to North America and expand the audience size for this high-quality racing product.”

Golden Gate Moves Friday Card To Thursday

Due to forecasted high winds and heavy rain in the Bay Area on Friday, Golden Gate Fields will move the Friday, March 10 live race card to Thursday, March 9.

Eight races are on the program for the now-Thursday card with first post time remaining at 12:45 PM.

Live Racing at Fair Grounds Canceled Friday

Following excessive rain overnight and throughout the morning and after a consultation between track management and the stewards, a joint decision was made to cancel Friday's card at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots.

Live racing will resume on Saturday, Dec. 31 with the regular post time of 1:15 p.m. CT. The 10-race card features a quartet of stakes including the $100,000 Woodchopper, $100,000 Pago Hop, and a pair of $100,000 Louisiana Futurities.
