Tobys Heart Rides Rail To Victory At Kentucky Downs

Joel Rosario has made the Kentucky Downs winner's circle a familiar sight in his time at the Franklin, Ky. track, adding another win to his record total with Tobys Heart's victory in the Music City Stakes. Patiently sitting on the rail throughout, Rosario sent Tobys Heart surging to the front in the stretch to take the 6 1/2-furlong stakes.

Breaking from post six, Tobys Heart settled in the back of the field of 11 early, content to hang back while Risky Reward led the field down the hill and around the bend. Into the stretch, Rosario found room on the rail to sneak through and pass Risky Reward to win by 2 3/4 lengths. Alwayz Late passed Risky Reward to take over second.

Tobys Heart is a 3-year-old filly by Jack Milton out of the Lil's Lad mare Pick of the Pack. She was bred in Kentucky by Trackside Farms. She is owned by Gary Barber, Terry Hamilton, and Bryan Lynch, who also trains the filly. Consigned by Bold Arrow Thoroughbreds, Tobys Heart was purchased for $45,000 by Alistair Roden Bloodstock at the 2020 Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's March Two-Year-Olds In Training Sale. With her win in the Music City, Tobys Heart has two wins in six starts in 2021 and a lifetime record of four wins in eight starts with career earnings of $494,750.

Family Way Finds Winner’s Circle In Ladies Marathon At Kentucky Downs

Family Way and Tyler Gaffalione stalked the pace throughout the 1 5/16-mile Ladies Marathon at Kentucky Downs, went wide on the final turn, and then split horses in the stretch to take the last stakes race at the Franklin, Ky., track's 2021 meet. La Lune was second and Big Blue Nation third.

Breaking from post seven, Family Way was away fastest, giving way to Stand Tall early and settling in behind horses. Stand Tall held the lead on the backside, with Blame Debbie in second and Big Blue Nation third. Going down the hill, Blame Debbie took over, with Stand Tall shuffling back to third, just ahead of Family Way.

Blame Debbie held her lead around the race's final turn into the stretch, but soon gave way to Big Blue Nation as Family Way split horses at the top of the stretch to find running room on the outside of Blame Debbie. Big Blue Nation tried to hold off a surging Family Way, but the filly caught her at race's end, hitting the wire a neck in front with La Lune surging past Big Blue Nation to take second. Favorite Luck Money was fourth.

Koala Princess Wins Ainsworth, Adds To Win Total For Leading Rider Rosario

Koala Princess followed up her maiden victory with her first stakes victory in the Ainsworth Stakes at Kentucky Downs. As the Franklin, Ky., track finishes up its 2021 meet, the 2-year-old filly adds another win to Joel Rosario's record-breaking total.

After an even break, Mystic Eyes went to the front first, with Poppy Flower challenging on her outside and J.L.'s Rockette in third. Koala Princess settled in toward the back of the pack early in eighth.

The top three kept their positions around the final bend. Mystic Eyes entered the long stretch on the front, but Poppy Flower challenged from the outside and Koala Princess found room on the rail to mount her own bid for the lead. As they approached the wire, Rosario had Koala Princess on the lead, drawing away to win by 2 1/4 lengths. Mystic Eyes was second, followed by Poppy Flower and Cavalier Cupid.

It's closing day of the FanDuel Meet at Kentucky Downs, and the Paulick Report is ahead of it with another Longshot Look video segment.

Bloodstock editor Joe Nevills steps in with an attempt to end the season on a high note, singling out a price play with his reasoning for what makes the horse worth a look when they might go overlooked.

Nevills turns his attention to Race 4 on Sunday's card, a seven-furlong allowance for fillies over Kentucky Downs' unique turf course. His pick showed some real flashes of turf ability in her most recent start, and she has the class to build upon it in her toughest test to date.
