French Guineas Target For Miss Amulet

Trainer Ken Condon is looking ahead to next spring’s G1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches with Miss Amulet (Ire) (Sir Prancealot {Ire}) after Doreen Tabor’s G2 Lowther S. winner ran a fine race in third in the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

“The mile was always a question mark, but to my eyes she got it well, and we were delighted with her,” said Condon. “She’s had a busy season, but she’s retained her form well, and there is plenty to look forward to next year.

“I think her main aim early on will be the French Guineas–we think that might suit her better. I know all the Guineas are run over a mile, but some tracks are stiffer than others. The winner the other night [Aunt Pearl] is obviously very good–she set sensible fractions, and we knew then it would be difficult to come from behind, but we were delighted with how our filly finished off and put a bit of daylight between the fourth, who won the Prix Morny [Campanelle].

“She’s been on the go since the first week racing resumed. She’s been to England twice–that was her eighth run, so credit to her, she has exceeded all expectations. We know if she doesn’t stay a mile we have the option of coming back in trip, but I had a quick exchange with Michael Tabor after the race and I think the French Guineas is where we are going.”

Miss Amulet Purchased by Coolmore

Miss Amulet (Ire) (Sir Prancealot {Ire}), who won the G2 Sky Bet Lowther S. last out, has been privately purchased by Michael Tabor and fellow Coolmore partners, Racing Post reported on Tuesday. Previously owned by Colm Griffin, the grey also gained black-type with a win in the Listed Arqana Irish EBF Marwell S. earlier this season. Trained by Ken Condon, Miss Amulet is targetting the G1 Cheveley Park S. at Newmarket on Sept. 26.

“I can confirm that Miss Amulet has been sold outright to Michael Tabor and partners for an undisclosed figure,” Michael Donohoe of BBA Ireland, told Racing Post. “She remains in training with Ken Condon and the plan is to run her in the G1 Cheveley Park S.”

Bred by Ringfort Stud in Ireland and sold for €1,000 as a Goffs November foal, Miss Amulet was selected by Donohoe as a yearling for 7,143gns at the Tattersalls September Yearling Sale. Out of Shena’s Dream (Ire) (Oasis Dream {GB}), Miss Amulet’s extended family includes French highweight and GI Arlington Million hero Mill Native (Exclusive Native), MGSW and G1 French 2000 Guineas runner-up French Stress (Sham), French Group 3 winner Sporades (Vaguely Noble {Ire}) and GI Frank E. Kilroe Mile S. victor Willyconker (Ire) (Pyrus).

Added Condon, “She’s had a very good season and the plan remains the Cheveley Park, which we’re all looking forward to. Hopefully she’s as lucky for her new owners as she has been for her previous owner, who I know thought long and hard about selling her. He’s had a great journey with her and he wishes the new owners luck.”

Peslier To Take Romanised Ride

Olivier Peslier has picked up the mount on Romanised (Ire) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}) in Sunday’s G1 Prix du Moulin at ParisLongchamp, with regular rider Billy Lee set to stay in Ireland to avoid a two-week quarantine that would see him sit out Irish Champions Weekend.

Dual Group 1 winner Romanised was second in this race last season. He won the G2 Minstrel S. on his 5-year-old debut in July before settling for fifth over heavy ground in the G1 Prix Jacques le Marois on Aug. 16.

“Romanised is heading for the Prix du Moulin this weekend,” said trainer Ken Condon. “He did his last bit of work this morning and that went very smoothly. His blood tests are excellent and his scope was good, so he’s good to go.

“Olivier Peslier is going to take the ride. It’s going to be a small field, I’d say, and Olivier Peslier is world-class–we’ve all watched him for years. This horse needs to be ridden in a certain way. His strongest attribute is his turn of foot and we’ve got a very good man on our side.

“He’ll fly out Saturday. The ground is the most important factor and it looks like we should get good ground or on the quick side. He’s in good shape and we’re looking forward to it.”

Sir Prancealot’s Miss Amulet Prevails In the Lowther

Having beaten Frenetic (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) in the Listed Marwell S. over five furlongs at Naas Aug. 3, Miss Amulet (Ire) (Sir Prancealot {Ire}) was one of the main contenders for Thursday’s G2 Sky Bet Lowther S. at York and she lived up to the billing when holding off Sacred (GB) (Exceed and Excel {Aus}) in a pulsating finale.
