Cobb And Tribbett Elected To KEEP’s Board Of Directors

The Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP) unanimously elected to their board Shannon Cobb to serve as chair and Rob Tribbett to serve as vice chair, the non-profit said in a release Wednesday.

The pair will replace Case Clay and David Ingordo, who will both continue their service on the KEEP Board.

Cobb, the Chief Operating and Financial Officer at Red Mile Racing and Gaming, and Tribbett, Vice President of the Consignors and Commercial Breeders Association in Lexington, Kentucky, and General Manager of Watercress Farm in Paris, Kentucky, bring a wealth of experience to KEEP's strategic direction.

“It's an honor to be entrusted with the position of Chairman at KEEP,” said Cobb. “I am eager to collaborate with our Board of Directors and the entire equine community to drive further growth and prosperity for Kentucky's vibrant equine industry. I am committed to upholding KEEP's mission and ensuring its success.”

KEEP, Race For Education Announce 2023 Scholarship Recipients

Over $33,000 in scholarships were awarded to Kentucky equine students for 2023, courtesy of The Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP) Foundation, and The Race For Education (RFE).

The KEEP Foundation's board of directors approved scholarships for 16 students attending equine programs at universities across the Commonwealth. All of the 2023 scholarship recipients are students currently enrolled at a university or college in Kentucky in either an equine and/or agriculture related major or their parents work in the equine industry.

In addition to the aforementioned 16 Kentucky students, the Race For Education also awarded its annual Robert J. Frankel Scholarship to four students from New York: Elsa Lorieul, Carlos Lopez, Francis Marrone and Anitza Parrilla. Now in its 13th year, the Robert J. Frankel Scholarship, in honor of the late Robert (Bobby) J. Frankel, is awarded to students whose families are employed in the Thoroughbred industry and are pursuing any field of study at a college or university in California or New York state. All of the 2023 Frankel Scholarship recipients have parents that work at various racetracks in New York and will be attending universities in New York.

The 16 2023 Race For Education KEEP Foundation Scholarship Recipients are: Jaida Alee, University of Kentucky; Brant Brower, Midway University; Alysa Farrell, University of Kentucky; Leo Foo, University of Kentucky; Rebekah Garza, Morehead State University; Kara Knott, University of Louisville; Thomas Mullikin, Robert Morris University; Lauren Mullikin, University of Kentucky; Taylor Nackers, University of Kentucky; Matthew Reidy, University of Kentucky; Noah Roberson, Kentucky Horseshoeing School; Sydnee Stacy, Midway University; Maddie Stephens, University of Kentucky; Sophia Vega, University of Kentucky; Samantha Versocki, University of Louisville and Logan West, University of Kentucky.

Seattle Slew Grants Launched by KEEP

Over $12,000 has been awarded to Kentucky equine non-profits by the Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP) Foundation's new Seattle Slew Grant Program. Recipients of the inaugural grants are The Ed Brown Society, Frankie's Corner Little Thoroughbred Crusade, and the Paris Bourbon County YMCA.

Available to Kentucky non-profits providing equine educational programs, events, and initiatives, the Seattle Slew Grant Program is part of the Foundation's efforts to support education and promote the importance of the equine industry to Kentucky's economy and culture.

“The KEEP Foundation is honored to support these exceptional organizations that are tirelessly working towards showcasing our industry to future equine enthusiasts,” said Katie LaMonica, KEEP Foundation Board Chair. “The KEEP Foundation congratulates the grant recipients and commends their exceptional dedication and passion for Kentucky's equine community.”

The KEEP Foundation is committed to helping support educational programs, projects and other endeavors that help advance the future of the equine industry in Kentucky. KEEP Launches New Grant Program

The Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP) Foundation has launched its new Seattle Slew grant program available to Kentucky non-profits, equine educational programs, events and initiatives. The program is part of the Foundation's efforts to support education and promote the importance of the equine industry to Kentucky's economy and culture.

“Kentucky's equine industry is a vital part of our state's heritage and economy,” Katie LaMonica, KEEP Foundation Board Chair said. “We believe it's important to support educational programs and projects that foster awareness of the industry and its contributions to our state. We're excited to see the innovative and impactful programs and projects that will be supported through this grant program.”

The grant program is open to non-profit organizations, schools, and other groups that are involved in equine-related educational programs and projects. Examples of eligible programs and projects include, but are not limited to:

● Equine-related STEM education initiatives
● Equine-assisted therapy programs
● Equine-related vocational training programs
● Equine-related art or cultural initiatives
● Equine-related history and heritage projects
