Dreaming of Anna Colt Takes Dirt Bow at Keeneland

4th-Keeneland, $73,000, Alw (NW2X), Opt. Clm ($100,000), 10-8, 3yo, 1 1/16m, 1:43.18, ft, 1 1/4 lengths.
BIG DREAMING (c, 3, Declaration of War–Dreaming of Anna {Ch. 2yo Filly, GISW-US, GSW-Can, $2,024,550}, by Rahy), a first-out second over the Tampa turf for Mike Stidham, was turned over to the trainer who conditioned this dam to a victory in the 2006 GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies and graduated at Churchill June 20. A popular Arlington allowance winner Aug. 1, the homebred made the running in the Dueling Grounds Derby when last seen Sept. 10 and held on grimly to finish second by a half-length. Trying the dirt for the first time here as the 19-10 second pick, the half to Fast Anna (Medaglia d’Oro), GISP, $296,731; and Dreamologist (Tapit), GSW, $203,710, stalked the pace outside of Ragtime Blues (Union Rags), took over from that one with a quarter mile to race and easily accounted last-out GII Pat Day Mile S. runner-up Sonneman (Curlin) by 1 1/4 lengths. Big Dreaming is the last live foal from his dam, a half-sister to MGSW Lewis Michael (Rahy) and MSW/GISP Justenuffhumor (Distorted Humor). Big Dreaming’s third dam is none other than Kitten’s First (Lear Fan), responsible for the likes of leading sire Kitten’s Joy (El Prado {Ire}) and MGISW Precious Kitten (Catienus), herself the dam of Midlantic-based GSW/MGISP stallion Divining Rod (Tapit) and GSW Jehozacat (Tapit). Lifetime Record: SP, 5-3-2-0, $248,864. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.

TVG Live At Keeneland For Major Stakes Coverage This Weekend

TVG, America's horse racing network and leading ADW platform, will be live at Keeneland for a loaded card this Saturday featuring two graded stakes races including the $500,000 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup (GI). In addition to Keeneland, the award-winning network will also be trackside at Santa Anita and Monmouth Park.

At Keeneland, TVG will be live on site all weekend with Todd Schrupp, Scott Hazelton, Caleb Keller, Gabby Gaudet and Caton Bredar bringing behind-the-scenes coverage, selections and interviews to viewers watching from home. Friday's featured event at Keeneland is the $150,000 Buffalo Trace Franklin County Stakes (GIII) which has drawn a field of twelve including Got Stormy, the heavy favorite at odds of 6-5 on the morning line for trainer Mark Casse. The popular five-year-old mare was the runner-up in the TVG Breeders' Cup Mile (GI) in 2019 and was last seen winning the Kentucky Downs Ladies Sprint Stakes (GIII). Tyler Gaffalione will be aboard.

The ten-race card on Saturday will feature a pair of graded stakes races – the $200,000 Hagyard Fayette Stakes (GII) and the $500,000 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup (GI). Scheduled to be run at a mile and an eighth on the turf, the race has drawn a contentious field of nine three-year-old fillies including Magic Attitude (GB) and Antoinette, the one-two finishers in the Belmont Oaks Invitational (GI) in September.

The action continues at Monmouth Park and TVG's Tom Cassidy will be live trackside. The featured event of the ten-race card is the $150,000 Monmouth Stakes (GIII) which will be contested at a mile and an eighth on the turf. Trainer Chad Brown will send out two contenders – Serve the King (GB) with Antonio Gallardo in the irons and Almanaar (GB) with jockey Joe Bravo aboard. Almanaar (GB) will be making his first start since winning this race in 2019.

At Santa Anita, the California breeding program will take center stage in the $100,000 California Distaff Handicap featuring California-bred or sired fillies and mares going five and a half furlongs on the turf. TVG will have Christina Blacker, Mike Joyce and Britney Eurton live at the track with analysis, interviews and selections. Simon Bray will be contributing to the broadcast remotely from home.

In addition to racing from Keeneland, Santa Anita and Monmouth Park, TVG will also be showing racing from Gulfstream Park West, Charles Town, Golden Gate and more.

Get Stormy Stays Sprinting at Keeneland

Gary Barber’s Got Stormy (Get Stormy) cuts even farther back to the shortest distance of her career in Friday’s GIII Buffalo Trace Franklin County S. over 5 1/2 turfy furlongs at Keeneland. Twice a Grade I winner going a mile last term and second behind fellow female and last Saturday’s GI First Lady S. heroine Uni (GB) (More Than Ready) in the GI Breeders’ Cup Mile, the Mark Casse pupil failed to find her best form through the first half of 2020. She was fourth at 1-5 in the GIII Lambholm South Endeavour S. at Tampa in February, and was upset by a neck in Santa Anita’s GI Frank E. Kilroe Mile at Santa Anita a month later. Faring no better when fourth in both Belmont’s June 3 GIII Beaugay S. and July 4 GIII Poker S., she stepped up when attempting to defend her title in Saratoga’s open GI Fourstardave H. Aug. 22 to be second, good for a 103 Beyer Speed Figure. Got Stormy paired up that number last time when successfully cutting back to a quirky 6 1/2 panels for the GIII Kentucky Downs Ladies Sprint S. over soft ground Sept. 12, besting five returning rivals. Winning Envelope (More Than Ready) and Into Mystic (Into Mischief) completed the exacta and trifecta, respectively. New challengers include Wesley Ward trainee Stillwater Cove (Quality Road), who was second in last April’s Limestone Turf Sprint S. here and was last seen taking a course-and-distance allowance just under a year ago; and near millionaire Chalon (Dialed In), who scratched out of two spots at Pimlico last week for this and makes her turf debut in career start number 23.

Saturday’s Cross Country Pick 5 Features All Graded Stakes Action From Belmont, Keeneland, Monmouth

Saturday's Cross Country Pick 5 will feature graded stakes in every race to highlight action across Belmont Park, Keeneland Race Course and Monmouth Park in a wager hosted by the New York Racing Association, Inc.

Live coverage will be available with America's Day at the Races on FOX Sports and MSG Networks. Free Equibase past performances for the Cross Country Pick 5 sequence are now available for download at https://www.nyra.com/belmont/racing/cross-country-wagers.

Monmouth will start the action in Race 8 at 3:53 p.m. Eastern with the Grade 3, $150,000 Monmouth for 3-year-olds and up going 1 1/8 miles on the turf. The Chad Brown trained Almanaar will be making his first start since he won last year's edition of the Monmouth in May 2019, coming off a 17-month layoff by looking to make a repeat bid. Brown will also send out the English-bred Serve the King for his first graded stakes start. Bal Harbour, who has run third in three consecutive graded stakes at the same racetrack, including the Grade 3 Monmouth Cup in July, will look to break through in his turf debut for trainer Gregory Sacco.

Belmont will host the first of two Grade 1 events for the Cross Country Pick 5, with seven fillies and mares 3-years-old and up competing in the $250,000 Flower Bowl going 1 ¼ miles on the inner turf in Race 8 at 4:14 p.m. The contest, a “Win and You're In” qualifier to the Grade 1, $2 million Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf on November 7 at Keeneland, will feature the top-four finishers in the Grade 2 Glens Falls in August at Saratoga all return. Civil Union, trained by Hall of Famer Shug McGaughey, won that contest last out and will face three Brown-trained contenders in Cambier Parc, My Sister Nat and Nay Lady Nay. Conditioner Tom Albertrani will send out a pair in Beau Belle and Lovely Lucky while the French-bred La Signare, trained by Brendan Walsh, rounds out the field.

Keeneland will get in on the party with the Grade 3, $200,000 Fayette for 3-year-olds and up going nine furlongs on the main track in Race 8 at 4:57 p.m. Mr Freeze, second in last year's running, will look to earn a trip to the winner's circle for trainer Dale Romans off a sixth-place finish in the Grade 2 Alysheba in September at Churchill Downs. Returning off a five-month layoff for trainer Danny Gargan is multiple graded-stakes winner Tax, who captured the 2019 Grade 2 Jim Dandy at Saratoga,.

The penultimate leg is the Grade 2, $150,000 Sands Point for sophomore fillies going one mile on the Belmont Widener turf in Race 10 at 5:20 p.m. Brown will saddle two strong contenders, with multiple graded-stakes winner Selflessly and French-bred Tamahere as the four-time Eclipse Award-winning conditioner looks to secure his fourth win in the race. Speaktomeofsummer will turn back in distance following a Saratoga summer campaign that saw the Summer Front bay capture the nine-furlong Grade 2 Lake Placid on July 19 ahead of a fourth in the 1 3/16-mile Saratoga Oaks Invitational on August 16.

The finale will be the Grade 1, $500,000 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup for 3-year-old fillies contesting at nine furlongs on the turf in Race 9 at 5:30 p.m. The English-bred Magic Attitude, winner of the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks last month in her North American debut, garnered acclaim for her career in Europe before coming over to the United States following a win in the Group 1 French Oaks in July at Chantilly. Steep opposition will be provided by multiple graded-stakes winner Sweet Melania, who captured the Grade 3 Wonder Again in June at Belmont for trainer Todd Pletcher; and a pair of fillies trained by Hall of Famer Bill Mott in Saratoga Oaks Invitational-winner Antoinette and graded-stakes winner Harvey's Lil Goil.

The minimum bet for the multi-track, multi-race wager is 50 cents. Wagering on the Cross Country Pick 5 is also available on ADW platforms and at simulcast facilities across the country. Every week will feature a mandatory payout of the net pool.
