Lady Prancealot (Ire) (Sir Prancealot {Ire}), winner of the GI American Oaks and two other graded stakes, will be offered at the upcoming Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale in Book 1. Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, will consign her as a racing or broodmare prospect.
“Lady Prancealot represents a great opportunity to race or breed in 2021,” said Mark Taylor, Taylor Made’s Vice President of Marketing and Public Sales Operations. “Her race potential speaks for itself, and her female family has been consistently producing top-class horses on both sides of the Atlantic for the last 50 years.”
In addition to her American Oaks win, the 4-year-old mare also captured the GIII Honeymoon S. and the GIII Pin Oak Valley View S. last year. Last seen when third in the GI Rodeo Drive S. Sept. 26, she has also placed in the GI Del Mar Oaks and three other graded black-type affairs. After beginning her career in England, Lady Prancealot moved stateside and has been under the tutelage of trainer Richard Baltas for the partnership of Medallion Racing, Parkland Thoroughbreds, Craig and Josie Arntz, Donald Durando, Jules and Michael Iavarone, and Jerry McClanahan.
“What differentiates her is she has an explosive turn of foot,” Michael Iavarone said. “I love horses that have that style. You think she has no chance, and all of a sudden here she comes out of nowhere. Horses like that really make the heart beat. They’re really exciting. She never not shows up. She puts in her run every single time.”
Although Lady Prancealot sports an international pedigree, with her dam being a half-sister to European GSW and G1SP Baqah (Ire) (Bahhare), her fourth dam is Eclipse Champion 2-year-old filly and Breeders’ Cup winner Brave Raj (Rajab).
Transferred to the barn of trainer Mark Glatt the day after his win in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity, Dr. Schivel is likely done racing for the year, reports the Daily Racing Form. The juvenile son of Violence will be turned out for three months before returning to training.
“We're going to give the horse a 90-day rest and bring him back as a 3-year-old,” Glatt told drf.com. “He does not have an injury or anything like of that nature, but he's had quite a few hard races, and we just thought if we want to have a 3-year-old next year we better back off and let him rest for a little bit.”
Bred in Kentucky by William A. Branch and Arnold R. Hill, Dr. Schivel was entered in the Keeneland November sale as a weanling but did not meet his reserve when bidding stopped at $37,000. His breeders retained the colt to race, and placed him with trainer Luis Mendez.
Dr. Schivel was third on debut, then second in his second start, and broke his maiden at third asking, defeating $1 million yearling Spielberg by 5 3/4 lengths. He was then sold privately to Tim Cohen's Rancho Temescal, his father Jed Cohen's Red Baron's Barn, and Dean Reeves, while co-breeder Branch retained an ownership interest.
The colt remained in Mendez' barn through his win in the Del Mar Futurity, and was transferred to Glatt the next day. Dr. Schivel goes to the bench with two wins from four starts and earnings of $197,000.
Con Te Partiro (Scat Daddy), a stakes winner on three continents and a dual Group 1 winner in Australia in 2020, will return to the United States for an appearance in the Breeders’ Cup before being offered at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. The 6-year-old will be consigned by Bedouin Bloodstock as a racing/broodmare prospect.
A $130,000 purchase by Gatewood Bell’s Cromwell Bloodstock out of the 2015 Keeneland September Sale and trained in America by Wesley Ward, the daughter of Temple Street (Street Cry {Ire}) graduated by 5 1/2 lengths at first asking going 4 1/2 furlongs on the Keeneland main track, then rolled by 5 3/4 lengths when trying the grass for the first time in the Bolton Landing S. at Saratoga two starts later. She was also runner-up against the boys in the Juvenile Turf Sprint before it became a Breeders’ Cup event in 2016.
Part of the Ward contingent at Royal Ascot the following spring, Con Te Partiro belied odds of 20-1 in the prestigious Listed Sandringham H., defeating 23 rivals in the process and was placed in the nine-furlong GIII Arlington Matron S. on the Polytrack in 2018 before selling to Newgate Farm and SF Bloodstock for $575,000 at Fasig-Tipton November.
Turned over to the legendary Gai Waterhouse and co-trainer Adrian Bott, Con Te Partiro made a spectacular start to her Australian career, taking the G3 Dark Jewel Classic (1400mT) in May of 2019. She resumed from a five-month spell to upset the field in the G1 Coolmore Classic (1400mT) (video) in heavy ground this past March, added a smooth success in the G1 Coolmore Legacy S. (1600mT) (see below) and was most recently fifth, beaten just 3/4 of a length, behind the classy Verry Elleegant (NZ) (Zed {NZ}). Third home that day was Fierce Impact (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}), who prevailed in Saturday’s G1 Makybe Diva S. at Flemington Racecourse.

“It is remarkable to reflect on what Con Te Partiro has achieved in her racing career,” Waterhouse said. “It is a rare feat in itself to win stakes races on three continents, but it is her performances at the elite level in Australia for which she will be remembered. Con Te Partiro won both of the time-honored Group 1 races, the Coolmore Classic and the Coolmore Legacy, making her, arguably, the best-performed mare in Australia.”
Added SF Bloodstock’s Tom Ryan: “Con Te Partiro truly is a one-of-a-kind mare,” said Tom Ryan of SF Bloodstock. “Her accomplishments on the track–including two Grade 1 wins in Australia, stakes victories at both the Royal Ascot and Saratoga race meets and successes on both dirt and turf–put her in an elite category of racehorses with the ability to perform at the highest level around the world.”
Ryan indicated that Con Te Partiro could take on the boys in the GI Breeders’ Cup Mile or remain with her own sex for the GI Filly & Mare Turf.
Con Te Partiro, whose Grade I-placed dam has also produced SW & MGSP Donworth (Tiznow), is one of 31 worldwide GI/G1SWs for her late sire and is from the extended family of four-time champion Beholder (Henny Hughes), Grade I winner and 2016 Keeneland September sales-topper Mendelssohn (Scat Daddy) and Grade I winner and leading sire Into Mischief (Harlan’s Holiday).
“Con Te Partiro has excelled at the highest level of international racing while she has exemplified just how small the global Thoroughbred industry is,” Keeneland President-Elect and Interim Head of Sales Shannon Arvin said. “We are thrilled to hold a Keeneland homecoming for Con Te Partiro. She sold as a yearling at the September Sale and she began her racing career here during the 2016 Spring Meet. We look forward to presenting her at the November Sale with all the fanfare she deserves.”
Paul and Karen Eggert’s versatile Grade I winner Ollie’s Candy (Candy Ride {Arg}) will be offered for sale during Book 1 of the Keeneland November sale on Nov. 9–two days after she competes in the GI Breeders’ Cup Distaff.
“Ollie’s Candy’s Grade I talent combined with her pedigree and conformation make her a tremendous prospect to offer this November,” said Mark Taylor of Taylor Made Sales, which will consign the 5-year-old. “I also love the fact that she is an open book to breed to many of the top stallions from around the globe.”
Two-for-two on synthetic to kick off her career, the homebred annexed the GII Summertime Oaks as a sophomore on the dirt and was a narrow second in the GI American Oaks on turf. She got her Grade I last year in Del Mar’s Clement L. Hirsch S. on the main track, and has been on the board despite tough trips in all four of her tries this term–all at the highest level–including a second in defense of her Hirsch title last time Aug. 2.
The John Sadler pupil is scheduled to prep for the Breeders’ Cup in the GI Juddmonte Spinster S. at Keeneland Oct. 4. She currently has earnings in excess of $830,000 and has been on thee board in 12 of 14 career starts. Ollie’s Candy is out of the Grade III winner Afternoon Stroll (Stroll).
“Ollie’s Candy exemplifies the finest in Thoroughbred racing and has a global appeal that makes her an invaluable addition to any broodmare band,” Keeneland President-Elect and Interim Head of Sales Shannon Arvin said. “Keeneland is pleased to offer a broodmare prospect of her class, talent and promise.”
