Mare In Foal To Gun Runner Tops Mixed Sale Session

De la Soul, a 3-year-old daughter of More Than Ready carrying her first foal by leading first-crop sire Gun Runner, sold to Jon Marshall for $205,000 to top Tuesday's seventh session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale in Lexington, Ky.

Consigned by Indian Creek, agent, De la Soul is from the family of Grade 1 winner Harmony Lodge and Grade 2 winners Diligence and Sparky Ville.

On Tuesday, Keeneland sold 299 horses for $9,455,500, marking an 80.61 percent increase from the corresponding session last year when 265 horses sold for $5,235,300. The average of $31,623 rose 60.07 percent from $19,756 in 2020, and the median of $23,000 was 91.67 percent higher than $12,000.

Through seven sessions of the 10-day November Sale, cumulative sales for 1,690 horses are $186,168,500, which is 32.77 percent higher than the same period last year when 1,512 horses grossed $140,214,700. The average of $110,159 is 18.79 percent above last year's $92,735, while the median of $60,000 is 42.86 percent above the $42,000 recorded in 2020.

Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, was the leading consignor Tuesday, selling 25 horses for $1,257,000.

Two horses consigned by Taylor Made brought $150,000 each.

Stony Pointe Farm paid the amount for the session's top-priced weanling, a colt by Not This Time who is a half-brother to stakes winner Wildcat Kate. Out of the winning Wildcat Heir mare Kombat Kitty, he also is from the family of Grade 3 winner Lance and stakes winners Katy Kat, Katy Now, Yaddo Cat and Dingdingdingding.

La Luna Latte, a 3-year-old daughter of Candy Ride (ARG) from the family of Grade 1 winner and sire Colonel John, sold to Jody Huckabay, agent, for $150,000. In foal to Dialed In, she is out of the Tiznow mare Kayce Ace and is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Comical.

Taylor Made also consigned Motown Girl, a 4-year-old daughter of Uncle Mo in foal to Practical Joke who sold to Spring Ridge for $145,000. From the family of classic winner and sire Afleet Alex, Motown Girl is a full sister to Grade 3 winner Name Changer. She is out of the stakes-winning Northern Afleet mare Cash's Girl.

Leading buyer Wark Bloodstock spent $215,000 on two horses.

The November Sale resumes Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET with the eighth session, the first day of Book 5.

Friday's final session will conclude with a single dedicated portion of horses of racing age following the conclusion of breeding stock. A total of 290 horses of racing age have been cataloged to the closing day and will follow the total of 148 head of breeding stock in the catalog.

Three Horses Of Racing Age Supplemented To Closing Session Of Keeneland November Sale

Keeneland has added three horses to the horses of racing age portion of Friday's final session of the 78^th November Breeding Stock Sale. The November Sale began Nov. 10.

A total of 290 horses of racing age have been cataloged to the closing day of the November Sale. They will sell following the conclusion of the breeding stock sale, which has cataloged 148 offerings.

Horses in the final round of supplements are:

Furia Vikinga (CHI), a winning, Group 1-placed 5-year-old daughter of Scat Daddy consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent. Out of Cheeky, by Lemon Drop Kid, she is from the family of Grade 3 winner Derrianne and stakes winners Tapitation and Squadron.
Karmari, a 2-year-old filly by Mastery who is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Miss Sunset. Consigned by Johnson Cross, agent, she is out of the Trippi mare Tuscan Sunset and from the family of multiple Grade 2 winner and sire Prayer for Relief and stakes winners Sizzlin South, Sparklin Lil and Laddie Liam.
Not That Serious, a 2-year-old colt by Munnings who won Nov. 12 at Churchill Downs. Out of the winning War Front mare Mobilize, he is from the family of stakes winners Katy Smiles and Straight Faced. Bluewater Sales, agent, consigns the colt.

The online horses of racing age catalog includes pedigrees, Daily Racing Form and Equibase past performances, race videos and Ragozin and Thoro-Graph figures. Consignors may upload photographs and walking videos.

Keeneland: Opening Day Of Book Four Demolishes Previous Year’s Marks

Pop a Choc, a 4-year-old winning daughter of Bernardini whose half-brother is Grade 2 winner Airoforce, recorded the $265,000 highest price of Monday's sixth session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale when she sold to Clear Ridge Stables.

Bluewater Sales, agent, consigned Pop a Choc, who was cataloged as a racing or broodmare prospect. She is out of the stakes-placed Cuvee mare Chocolate Pop and from the family of Grade 1 winner Sea Cadet.

Monday marked the first day of Book 4, and 271 horses sold for $10,507,100, up 67.35 percent over the corresponding session of the 2020 November Sale when 265 horses grossed $6,278,400. The average of $38,772 was 63.65 percent above last year's $23,692, while the median of $26,000 increased 73.33 percent from $15,000.

The cumulative gross is $176,713,100 for 1,391 horses, which is 30.92 percent above $134,979,400 for 1,247 horses at this point in 2020. The average of $127,040 increased 17.37 percent from last year's $108,243. The median of $75,000 rose 36.36 percent from $55,000.

Repartee, whose daughter Munnyfor Ro is one of Canada's most accomplished 3-year-old fillies of 2021, sold for $215,000 to Pitlochry Partners. In five starts at Woodbine, Munnyfor Ro has won the Woodbine Oaks Presented by Budweiser along with the Wonder Where and Ontario Damsel, was second in the Selene (G2) and ran fourth against males in the Queen's Plate.

Consigned by St George Sales, agent for Shannondoe Farm and South Point Sales, Repartee is a 9-year-old daughter of Distorted Humor from the family of Grade 1 winner Dickinson. Out of the stakes-winning A.P. Indy mare Dubai Dancer, she also is from the family of Grade 1 winner and Kentucky Oaks (G1) runner-up Little Belle.

Hunter Valley Farm purchased the session's $200,000 top-priced weanling, a colt by Not This Time from the family of 2021 Florida Derby (G1) runner-up Soup and Sandwich. Consigned by Castle Park Farm, agent, he is the first foal out of Worth a Chance Mo, by Uncle Mo, and from the family of Grade 2 winner Sara Louise and Grade 3 winners Just Louise, Till Forbid, Hold Old Blue, Scoop and Looking Cool.

Whispering Pines, a 4-year-old daughter of Uncle Mo cataloged as a racing or broodmare prospect, sold to Olivia Perkins-Mackey for $185,000. From the family of Grade 1 winner Schossberg, she is out of stakes winner Walkwithapurpose, by Candy Ride (ARG) and is a half-sister to stakes winner Where Paradise Lay. Whispering Pines was consigned by Upson Downs Farm, agent.

American Indy, a 3-year-old American Pharoah filly who is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Joking and from the family of Grade 2 winner and sire Fed Biz, sold for $170,000 to American Indy LLC. Consigned by Bluewater Sales, she is out of stakes winner Spun Silk, by A.P. Indy, and also is from the family of Group 1 winner Minardi and Grade 2 winner and sire Tale of the Cat.

Bluewater also consigned multiple Grade 2 winner Spelling Again, a 10-year-old daughter of Awesome Again in foal to Audible, who sold to Andrew N. Warren for $150,000. Out of stakes-placed Spelling, by Alphabet Soup, she is a half-sister to stakes winner Sky Willow.

Lane's End, agent, led consignors during the session with sales of $1,434,500 for 32 horses.

The leading buyer was Halmar International, which acquired 12 horses for $415,000.

Four sessions remain in the November Sale, which continues Tuesday at 10 a.m. ET.

Belle Street, Half Sister To Eight Belles, Leads Saturday Session At Keeneland

Gary Broad/Walmac Farm paid $550,000 for the 3-year-old Street Sense mare Belle Street, a half-sister to Grade 2 winner and Kentucky Derby (G1) runner-up Eight Belles, who is carrying her first foal by Bernardini, to post the highest price of Saturday's fourth session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale in Lexington, Ky.

Saturday marked another day of robust trade at the November Sale when 252 horses sold for $19,981,500, for an average of $79,292 and a median of $65,000. During the fourth session last year, total sales reached $13,141,000 for 226 horses, for an average of $58,146 and a median of $43,500.

Cumulative sales this year are $146,615,500 for 838 horses, for an average of $174,959 and a median of $120,000. Through the same period last year, the gross was $115,669,000 for 747 horses, for an average of $154,845 and a median of $90,000.

Godolphin consigned Belle Street, who is out of stakes winner Away, by Dixieland Band, and also from the family of Grade 3 winners Sky Captain and Belong to Me.

“She's a good-looking mare from a very good family,” Michael Banahan, Director of Farm Operations, Godolphin USA, said. “We didn't anticipate she was going to make that much money. But it's been so strong here since the sale started. She made well over her reserve. You can probably put an extra 20-35 percent on top of what we were valuing the mares at. It's just an unbelievably strong market.

Leading sire Bernardini, who died in July, stood for Godolphin at Darley at Jonabell.

Banahan said the Godolphin consignment is “part of what we do every year, trying to streamline our broodmare band.” Selling mares such as Belle Street represents an opportunity for breeders to buy mares from top-quality Godolphin families.

“Anytime we've brought mares to the sale, even when we haven't sold them ourselves, people are very keen to try to get into these families,” Banahan said. “They've done well for other people as well. That's why they are so popular.”

Gainesway Farm paid $340,000 for the day's second highest-priced horse, Trophy Wife, a 12-year-old daughter of Giant's Causeway, who has produced two stakes-placed runners, High Tech and Power Move, and is in foal to Mastery.

Claiborne Farm, agent, consigned Trophy Wife, whose dam is Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) winner Pleasant Home, by Seeking the Gold. The family also includes Grade 1 winner Guarana and Grade 2 winner Country Hideaway.

Multiple stakes winner and Grade 3-placed I'm Betty G, a 7-year-old daughter of Into Mischief in foal to Improbable, sold to Stoneriggs Farm for $275,000. Consigned by Bluewater Sales, agent, she is out of Lady in Ermine, by Honour and Glory, and from the family of stakes winners Sadler's Sarah, Commonsensical and Truth and Nobility.

Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, was the session's leading consignor with sales of $2,571,000 for 23 horses.

Taylor Made consigned the session's fourth highest-priced horse, stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Ask Bailey, a 4-year-old daughter of Run Away and Hide cataloged as a racing or broodmare prospect, to Mulholland Springs for $255,000. Ask Bailey is a half-sister to Grade 3-placed Codoy and from the family of Grade 1 winners Graydar and Ron the Greek and Grade 2 winner Musket Man. Her dam is Puype's Dream, by Kris S.

Taylor Made also sold the $210,000 top-priced weanling, a filly by Nyquist purchased by Bolter Bloodstock. Out of Chifa, by Orientate, she is from the family of Grade 1 winners Dream Tree and Golden Ticket and Grade 2 winners Academy Award and Magical Feeling.

Code of Honor LLC/L.E.B., agent, paid $1 million for eight horses to lead buyers.

The November Sale resumes Sunday at 10 a.m. ET and continues through Friday, Nov. 19.

The Nov. 19 session will conclude with a single dedicated portion of horses of racing age following the conclusion of breeding stock. A total of 285 horses of racing age have been cataloged to the closing day and will follow the total of 148 head of breeding stock in the catalog.

Keeneland will accept supplements to the horses of racing age section through mid-November.
